Songs for our Fav Characters
« on: June 02, 2002, 10:43:32 PM »
On the old board we did a string listing the favorite songs that would be anthems for our characters . .i went there again on another string here. .Does DS drive us insane?  Soooo since we have so many newbies, let's try this again . .

What song best epitomizes your favorite character?

For Julia Hoffman, I choose Tina Turner's A Fool In Love

I have two for Angelique....

Witchy Woman by the Eagles and Devil Woman by Cliff Richard.

Every time I hear either of these songs, I imagine a montage of scenes of Angelique doing her dirty work.

Ok, now for some obscure song references....lol ;)

Quentin - "You and Me and The Bottle Makes Three Tonight"  _Big Bad Voodoo Daddy_

The main theme - "If The House is Rockin' (Don't Bother Knockin') _Brian Setzer_

Buzz - "The Legend of Johnny Cool" _Brian Setzer_

Lady Hampshire "Minnie The Moocher" as sung by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (or if you'd rather listen to the Cab Calloway version, you can pretend I don't know who he is<G>)

Angelique - "Hoodoo Voodoo Doll" _Brian Setzer_

Willie - "The Last Payday" _Harry Connick Jr._

Barnabas - "Blue Light Red Light" _Harry COnnick Jr._ (you really have to know this song to get the reference, I guess)

Julia - "I Only Whisper Your Name" _Harry Connick Jr._

Geez, can't ya guess what I've been listening to tonight? And seriously, how many of y'all have heard of this music???  ?!?

LOL! I must be the only one on the planet still listening to swing music.

EG
Always remember you have the knowledge to do what's right, and the power to right what's done.

ElizabethGrayson,

A member of BBVD is a good friend, and I bet he'll be tickled when he hears about the DS associations you came up with for their songs. ;)

After watching the Tony awards and especially after the sequence of Mamma Mia where ABBA songs are used to tell the story, I could see:

     DARK SHADOWS - THE MUSICAL

with the story being told using Golden Oldies as suggested in these postings.

I think any remake would have to be totally different and totally off the wall to attract any attention IMHO.

EG, I'm a fan of Harry Connick Jr.'s early stuff (and even taught myself to play a little bit of "One Last Pitch").  I'll always remember his concert at the Chicago Theater ten years ago.  It rained so hard that night, water started trickling through the ceiling onto the stage.  This inspired an impromptu performance of "Pennies from Heaven" and the audience went crazy.
