Jeff Clark = Ned Stuart?

SPOILERS (as if the title wasn't already one)

After Jeff Clark/Peter Bradford returns to the past, Prof Stokes hypothesizes that Peter Bradford had actually been possessing the body of a living person, and now that Peter has returned where he came from, the body was released from the possession (I believe this discussion takes place somewhere in DVD collection 12). Not too long after that, Ned Stuart arrives in town ... Since his past was never really discussed, this is plausible. It's not like Sabrina would have wondered where he went!!

This would also explain why they are identical (although in DS universe this seems like a common occurrence  )

I did think they were leading up to revealing Ned was a host for Peter.

So the reason Ned Stuart was so...um...beyond-brotherly to Sabrina was that he was feeling guilty over his temporary, inexplicable abandonment of her?

Well, in Ep #660, what Stokes actually stated was that he was sure that there really was someone named Jeff Clark whom Peter's spirit possessed, and when Peter's spirit returned to its own time, the borrowed body was returned where it belonged. Though possessing Ned would go a long way to explain Jeff's extreme irritability. 

sometimes it means something when two characters resemble each other(peter bradford=jeff clark,angelique=cassandra)and sometimes it doesn't...

the fact that jeff and ned stuart looked and acted exactly alike was simply the usual case of roger davis being cast whenever possible.ned in no way factored into the whole peter/jeff plotline.

It's irritating to me when characters actually notice such resemblances, and point them out, puzzle over them... and then they turn out to be meaningless.

If only the series hadn't been canceled, I'm sure the real reason for the resemblance between Jeff and Ned would have been revealed.
