The end of the world may well have arrived. I can find no other way to explain the fact that, although Vicky behaved in an exceptionally imbecilic fashion today, I felt a certain amount of sympathy for her. During her conversation with Josette, I thought about her friendship with Maggie, and remembered scenes between Vicky and Maggie. And now Vicky was talking with this woman who looked exactly like Maggie. I just can't entirely blame Vicky for doing something foolish to try to save Josette's life.
Once again, Josette is wonderful and Angelique is horrible. Josette may be wrong about who the witch is, but she is selfless and fearless in her endeavor to save Barnabas. Meanwhile, Angelique pretends to Barnabas that Josette can be saved if Barnabas keeps his mouth shut about the identity of the witch - but she knows that Josette is doomed by the curse, because Josette loves Barnabas. And if Angelique can't save Barnabas from the curse, then she certainly can't save Josette, even if she wanted to. If I had a nickel for every lie that Angelique told, I could bankroll a whole new Dark Shadows series.
Oh My God Angelique! It's EXTREMELY obvious in this episode that she does not love Barnabas at all. She knows he's dying but her jealousy prevents her from letting him have peace in his final hours by spending it with Josette.
What does she feel for him, then? I'm not saying that it's love - but I'd like to know what it is. Obsession is a nice word to cover the whole thing - but what fuels the obsession? Just sort of wondering.
