Cemetary Plots-(No pun intented)
« on: May 15, 2002, 12:26:01 PM »
During the course of the show there have been many scenes that took place in the cemetary. Sometimes it seems like the cemetary is their second home. Which cemetary scenes do you remember the most and under which circumstances did they take place?

1970PT Alexis/Angelique switch (once again Angelique was at her evil best)

1840 When Angelique and Lazlo went to see if Barnabas was still chained in the coffin.

and of course the one most remembered by all:

1966/67 Willie Loomis releases Barnabas from the chained coffin.
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

In the 1795 Flashback when Noah Gifford was searching the cemetery, looking for Daniel Collins, and later was shot and killed by Victoria Winters, and fell to his slumber on top of Jeremiah Collins grave.

The most memorable graveyard scene for me was when Julia was trying to reattach the head of Judah Zachary in that really weird hidden vault under one of the graves.

I remember when Barnabas, having already bitten Maggie, summoned her to the cemetary.  The show being in black&white at the time really added to the eerie atmosphere.

A sad one that sticks out in my mind is during the 1795 storyline, when little Sarah is hiding from Barnabas behind Jeremiah's tombstone. There is a bad storm, and "gentle"  Ben finds Sarah and carries her home to safety. To me that was such a touching scene. It shows just how caring Ben really was and how much little Sarah trusted  him. :)

1795-Naomi & Josette visit the grave of Jeremiah and flee in terror as his hand is seen rising up from his grave.  Watching that scene when I was a child, really gave me the creeps.

SPOILER. . .

In 1840, Roxanne returns as a vampire and her brother, guilty and miserable, prevents her from getting to her coffin, forcing her to face the sun, which immediately obliterates her.

Also, in 1897, I recall Carl Collins learning that Barnabas is a vampire.  He is determined that his cousin shall be destroyed for killing Pansy Faye, his fiancee, but after Quentin betrays him, he ends up being locked in the Collins mausoleum as Barnabas is rising.  Creepy!

Also, the Angelique-Alexis switch in 1970PT was pretty damned frightening, too.

The earliest Barnabas-Maggie scenes in the cemetery were bone-chilling, especially in black and white.

Love, Robin
