Number 171.   July 10, 2007.

*********************************************
Hello, Dark Shadows Fan,

ShadowGram (SG), The Official Newsletter & News Source for Dark Shadows (DS), announces the following breaking news.

***** POSSIBLE NEW CABLE TV NETWORK HOME FOR ORIGINAL EPISODES

Fans are urged to join the campaign to help bring the original DS back to TV.

The Sci-Fi Channel successfully re-aired DS in the 1990s and into the early 2000s. SG print newsletter issues published during that time thoroughly reported and detailed Sci Fi's 4 broadcast runs of DS.

Now fans are asked to be part of the grassroots effort to help bring DS back to television on the new Chiller cable television channel, available via digital and satellite services.

It is requested that fans contact Chiller by posting thoughtful and encouraging requests on the Chiller TV website message boards, asking them to air DS reruns. Please visit: http://boards.nbcuni.com/chillertv/

You also can write postal-mail letters requesting DS be carried on the network's programming schedule. Send your letters of support to: Chiller TV Programming Department, NBC Universal, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112.

Please act now - don't delay!

SG will report any confirmed developments.

***** LATEST DS AUDIO CD AVAILABLE WITH FREE BONUS DISC

"Big Finish Productions newly-released Dark Shadows: The Legend Reborn is a special behind-the-scenes CD documentary about the making of the new DS audio dramas. The deluxe double-disc CD is $17.00 (includes postage).

"The release features over a dozen interviews with the cast and crew of the series, including David Selby, Lara Parker, Kathryn Leigh Scott, John Karlen and Robert Rodan, plus a bonus soundtrack CD of Joseph Fox's haunting scores from the first audio series."

To purchase "The Legend Reborn" and other titles in the DS CD w audio series, please go to www.darkshadowsfestival.com or ww.darkshadowsreborn.com.

Big Finish is currently working on the second series of DS audio dramas, with plans to record later this year. SG will update confirmed news.

***** CHRIS PENNOCK IN NEW PRODUCTION OF SHAKESPEARE'S "KING LEAR"

Chris (Jeb, Cyrus/John, Sebastian, Gabriel) asks SG to please tell fans that this classic play opens July 13 and runs to August 1 (Chris hopefully adds, "and maybe beyond!").

Performances are at the Lee Strasberg Film and Theater Institute, 7936 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90046. 323-650-7777. (The location is near the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd. and Fairfax Ave.)

Chris says, "I'd love it if all the Dark Shadows fans in the area could come and support me in a truly terrifying endeavor. It's a wild and radical King Lear!"

***** JOAN BENNETT FILM MARATHON ON TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES (TCM) -

INCLUDING "HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS" - AUGUST 15-16, 2007

Before portraying Elizabeth, Naomi, Judith, and Flora on DS, Joan's acting career featured acclaimed film noir movies during Hollywood's "Golden Era" in the 1930s-40s. These roles and others often are noted in retrospectives and tributes like this one on TCM.

The cable network plans a total of 13 films, starting at 6:00 am (EDT) on Aug. 15. The 24-hour marathon is due to conclude with 1970's "House of DS," the first major motion picture based on a TV daytime soap opera. "HODS" should screen at 4:15 am (EDT) on Thurs., Aug. 16.

TCM Publicity:
4:15 am - House Of Dark Shadows (1970)
A vampire seeks a cure so he can wed the reincarnation of his lost love.
Cast: Jonathan Frid, Grayson Hall, Joan Bennett. Dir: Dan Curtis. C-97 mins, TV-14.

SG asks fans to please share any media reviews, articles, or advertisements for the marathon. Please send them to SG's postal- or e- mail addresses (given later in this Update).

Where does the info on the Joan Bennett TCM marathon come from?
I just Googled Joan Bennett/TCM to see the full schedule.
All that came us was, from the TCM site, is Blood Lust, a 4 film marathon in Aug: Mark of the Vampire (1935) Return of the Vampire (1943)
Vampyr (1932) and HODS.
Nothing about a Bennett marathon.
