"Listen, Vicki - oh, can't you hear it, too??!! I'm sure it's the sound of Mrs. Johnson and Richard Garner making out in my bedroom! Oh, it's so hard to find good help these days!"

But wouldn't the alternative to speaking with ones mouth open be mumbling with ones mouth closed? And that would hardly be an example to set for David either.
