Barnabas was extremely surprised to see that Sam's artistic talents also included painting silver filigree pens.  Having been in his coffin during THE PEN's heyday, he had been unaware of how deeply THE PEN had influenced Sam.

Whether Sam painted polar bears that wore pink swim trunks and held trout or if he actually wore the trunks and held the trout while he painted them is up to you...
