As of this point in time MPI is only releasing DSTB DVD sets to their DSDVD Club members. They are not available to the general public, and probably won't be for about a year--that's speculation among many 'round these parts anyway. If someone has some concrete stuff to say, I haven't heard it or I forgot about it.
As for how they'll be released, it probably won't be in ony huge set that has all the episodes. They'll do it like they are now, releasing 6 sets of about 40 episodes each (I'm not sure how many episodes will be on the last set), just like the releases with the DS episodes that have Barnabas in them.
So we have to wait until 2008 unless we sign up? How much do they charge to join, or is it even worth signing up? It's just that it's one of those buy five get the sixth free clubs which is seen in the Sunday papers and I'm a bit skeptical. A friend of mine did that and I think they got in trouble.
Also if Barnabas falls down in the woods and no one is around to hear it- does he make a sound
I personally don't see the benefit of joining the club. I mean you get the DVD sets sooner and stuff, but I'd rather wait for them to come out to the general public. They're not that much more expensive at MPI--once you factor in the free set and free shipping, like Nelson did, but I'm a cheapo and I want to save every penny I can. Not to mention that it's a matter of principal for me. I don't want to join a club just to get access to the material or whatever. I dunno. It's hard to explain, but someone else probably feels the same way.
Brandon and Alondra, I am a cheapo and control freak too. but I had to balance that against have seen very very few of the pre-Barn eps and my teh sad fanboy in me won out!
Oh don't take what I said as a criticism. I know what it's like to not want to wait. But I think MPI is shooting themselves in the foot over this. If I ran a store and people wanted a particular item I would try to stock as many as I could and I would not try to deny anyone that product who was willing to pay for it just because they didn't belong to some nit club. They probably think the interest will be just as stong in a year as it is now, maybe it will be. In fact it probably will be. But this kind of thing just sets my teeth on edge.
