« on: January 26, 2007, 07:06:24 PM »
I was just wondering if anyone knew how well LP's new book is doing...?

In terms of Sales? I'd guess that it's doing moderately well, as one could expect given the limited fan market that they have for DS. It seemed like she sold a TON at the last fest, so I guess you'd call it successful?

It's a good thing you're talking about sales and not the written word....

I got a signed copy when she came to Memphis, but I have not read it yet.

Not as good as Angelique's Descent?

Let's just say that you may not like certain events involving Barnabas that happen, and you may not care for the ending too much. There's a whole topic floating around somewhere that has everything you need to know, if you don't mind spoilers.

i was recently surprised to see a copy of "the salem branch" at the brooklyn public library.

perhaps libraries across the country ordered the book.that would certainly have helped sales.

as for the "written word" part as i already voiced i thought this book was dreadfull.

Well, on Amazon it's currently #58,204 in book sales.   If it had only made Oprah's book club.   ;)  Seriously, I don't think that's a bad sales rank.

But with this opening sentence listed on their page:  The Bentley throbbed down the dark road through a long corridor of overhanging trees.-- that's enough adjectives to scare some readers off.

I wonder why it didn't make Oprah's book club, since she was supposedly a fan of DS. I've started the book but not gone too far into it yet. It's ok so far.

Well, I don't know about that.  No adjectives for the Bentley.  How about The daffodil-yellow, tempest-tossed, gout-ridden Bentley?

All the same, I don't suppose that I'll ever be so enterprising as to write two novels, so Lara Parker's one (or two) up on me.
