Volume 27?  The first (of 6) in the DS: The Beginning series shipped this week (which, via media mail, might take a while) only to MPI club members, and Bloopers and Treasures came out at the end of least year.  But DVD Collection 26 had the final eps of DS.

Bloopers and Treasures came out at the end of last year.
I'm still trying to figure out what the treasures are.  :P Chapter breaks for each of the songs in the music video segment would've been nice.

I'm thinking the gameshow segments are the 'treasures'?  ;)  But I agree, would it kill MPI to have chapter breaks?   ::)

Even so, one wonders why there is no cover art published anywhere.

Perhaps, since they are catering to their members.  Still, it's Marketing 101 if you are selling somthing that you show us that something.  It would not have taken much for MPI to big up the Beginning series on their site, show off the product (cover art for all the Beginning releases pointing out "Buy the first five and the sixth FREE - Show, don't tell) and just maybe entice some peeps to join the club that that may not have bothered before or be on the fence about joining.

The die hards are the easy ones to get, but with only a little bit of extra effort, they might have gotten a bigger response from the more casual fan.

I understand your point and it's a valid one - especially where casual fans or fans who are on the fence about buying the pre-Barn eps are concerned. And at some piont something tells me MPI will most probably do everything you've said.

Changing the subject slightly, personally, I'm probably a marketer's worst nightmare when it comes to packaging something that I might otherwise not be interested in to try to entice me to buy it. For instance, DVDs that have flashy packaging might get me to look at them, but all the great packaging in the world still won't get me to buy something if I strongly suspect or specifically know that it's not something that would probably appeal to me. On the other hand, often in spite of lackluster packaging, I will buy something if I suspect or know it's probably something I will enjoy. I suppose I'm a content over facade kind of guy.  ;)  (Which is probably why no matter how pretty/handsome an actress/actor might be, just watching them simply to appreciate their looks seems like a waste of time to me if they're lacking in talent and/or they're not bringing anything to their role beyond their looks. The same thing goes for movies, TV shows, etc. that are all flash and no real substance. (Do you hear that producers of Las Vegas?! But I digress...  :D))

No, MB, I am their worst nightmare.  No amount of marketing or commercials or newspaper/magazine ads can entice to buy something I'm not already interested in.  The ads might make me take a second look at something by alerting me to its availability, but just because the ad tells me the product is the best. . .well, I say prove it--give me a FREE demo to use in person, I say, and then maybe I'll CONSIDER

Speculation only, but go to www.darkshadowsdvd.com and see the picture of Vicky running on the Collinwood lawn.  I have a hunch that this will be the main cover art photo, as the eyes of Barnabas was on Vols. 1-26.  Each collection should have a bottom photo that is relevant to the espisodes in that collection, just as was done on Vols. 1-26.  In about a week, I guess we'll know if I'm right or not.

I'd sooner think it would be the main photo of the first set, with perhaps a silhouette of Collinwood where Barn's eyes were.  At a guess, I would suspect that the main photos would be: Vol 1 - Vicky; Vol 2 - Burke, Vol 3 - Roger Vol 4 - Vicky and Matthew?  Vol 5 - Laura (and David?) Volume 6 - Elizabeth and Jason

Well, we'll know soon enough. I received an e-mail notification from MPI that the volume has shipped.

I received mine in the mail today. Took seven days from shipdate which I think is pretty good for media mail. The cover is of Vicki running from Collinwood on the bottom half of the case. The top half has a nightview of Collinwood that is pretty much obscured by the DS logo. An orange-ish banner with the words The Beginning in it separates the two images.

Sounds pretty much like the artwork that's on MPI's site.

Thanks for the report, dom.  :)
