Current Talk '02 II / Re: HOLIDAYS WITH THE COLLINS'.....
« on: October 14, 2002, 01:25:36 AM »
During the first year, there are seasonal changes.  I remember one episode with Roger wearing ordinary clothes and bringing in wood for the fire.

When Laura first appears in December 1966, Maggie asks her if she is in town for the holidays.  A few episodes before Joe tells Burke to take him off his Christmas list.

In 1897, there are references by Edward about someone sending him Christmas cards the prior holiday season.

During the beginning of Leviathan, Julia asks Carolyn if she is doing some early Christmas shopping.

1897 is so close now, I wonder why they didn't get another actor to play Ned?  Its not that long ago jeff Clark/Peter Bradford was last seen.  After 1897 ends, Ned is never shown again anyway.

George Wyner was better as Dr. Shapiro then Edward Marshall was.  He seemed more fitted to the role.

Unfortunately, that is the last appearance of our multi faced Sheriff George Patterson.  His timing was really well done to get out of office considering what happens to his successor...Sheriff Davenport.

Current Talk '02 II / Liz's Terror Ends
« on: October 03, 2002, 01:33:34 AM »
And it took 100 episodes to do it in.  This story began as a subplot to the main plot that ended a month before.  I never saw such a minor story dragged out so much as this...it could have taken a week to this in!

Unfortunately, this is basically Liz's last hurrah on DS...she is never given a story of her own anymore.  They could have given her one during Leviathian, it appeared like it at first, but they wasted so much potential there.

Current Talk '02 II / Natalie's Fate: Was it really Altered?
« on: September 28, 2002, 10:52:24 PM »
It was never stated how Natalie Dupres died originally, with her being one of the survivors of 1795/6.

With her dying of a heart attack at the hands of Ben Stokes, her heart was obviously very weak.   Perhaps with Josette's death and all that happened, the stress resulted in doingdamage to her heart.

Perhaps in the original run, she died of a heart attack after Vicky was hung (and Phyllis Wick before that)  and Barnabas chained.   Either while still living at Collinwood or on her way to New York to meet up with Andre, her heart gave out due to all the stress she went through.

Current Talk '02 II / The Deaths of Ben Stokes
« on: September 28, 2002, 10:46:15 PM »
There are three different years stated for his death, but unlike Josette or Naomi, all of them can actaully be expained.

1.  His original year of death as stated by Prof. Stokes upon meeting Barnabas and Julia was in 1830.   He got a parcel of land and educated himself and he prospered, had a family and died peacefully.

2. In 1897, his headstone states he died in 1816.  His year of death changed becasue he had the deaths of nathan and Natalie on his conscious for the rest of his life.  While now he may not have been given his own land and prospered, he remained at Collinwood.  Though he still did marry and have a family of his own.  Joshua probably did reward him for his loyalty in some way.

3. Following the final 1796 flashback, Natalie is bit by Barnabas and under his spell.  Most likely, she never did bail out Nathan Forbes.  So, neither were ever killed by Ben Stokes.  He doesn't have any deaths on his conscious and now lives to 1840.  He still probably lived at Collinwood and without the stress of owning land he lived 10 years longer then he opriginally did.  Once again, he still married and had a family of his own and Joshua may have helped him out in someway.

A lot of people are confused by this storyline, but I go with the theory this is all Angelique's doing and except for Barnabas, Vicky, Ben, and Peter, everyone else is shaped by her.  Peter's memory loss was probably also done by Angelique to make it worse for Vicky to be with him.

You can agree or disagree with this theory but due to so many continuity erors, I will go by this myself.  Also, Angelique did appear as Cassandra prior to this to get back at Liz for the last time, so she was still around before this story started.

Current Talk '02 II / A Theory on this Return to 1796
« on: September 26, 2002, 08:39:58 PM »
A. Warren Oddson (the artist/timeline solver)from The World of Dark Shadows  had a theory this return to 1796 was a trap set by Angelique to lure Vicky,
Peter, Ben, and Barnabas into a fantasy 1796 to do away with Vicky once and  for all.

When Barnabas has Ben torch her, Vicky and Peter were able to  escape the trap, but Barnabas had to find a way out, which was his chained  coffin.  Nathan and Natalie were a "fail safe" device in case something
went wrong.  When ben took care of that and chained Barnabas in the coffin,  both returned to where they belonged.

Thus, 1795 was never really changed.

How does this sound to you?

Current Talk '02 II / Re: JOSHUA'S DILEMMA
« on: September 26, 2002, 04:58:06 PM »
Doesn't this return to 1796 erase Joshua's dilemma completely?  He is out of town to Bangar on a wild goose chase in search of Barnabas.  When he returns, Ben will have already chained Barnabas in his coffin, at Barnabas's own request!

I wonder what Joshua thought of all this when he arrived back hom and found out what had happened?

I wish 1897 was written the way 1795 was...the writers had that storyline clear and mapped out.

In the beginning of 1897, it appears that Edward is married to Jenny and had her locked away in the tower.  She even tries to kill him.  DC must have then been able to get Diana Millay back on the show, so the writers changed Edward's wife to Laura.  The original intent for 1897 had probably been changed many times, especially when the story got under way.

DC stated 1897 was to run for three months originally.  it was most likely a simple planned story then.  Quentin kills a relative of Magda, she places the werewolf curse on him.  As a werewolf, Quentin kills Beth. Q is found out by Judith and Edward.  One of them shoot him and he dies in the room.  They seal up the room to prevent anyone from discovering Q's secret and state he went to France to live.
