P.S. Somehow, when Barn surprises Laszlo at the Old House, Laszlo forgets that he's already met Barnabas at Collinwood, back when Angelique sent him (L.) to see if Barnabas was there. But still a great scene!

Quentin's divorce: In the Collinwood universe, maybe divorce laws were different. I'm just as puzzled as you are, Lydia, because Q. could probably prove that Samantha had committed bigamy at least, if not outright adultery.

It was nice to see Barn so utterly bewildered at not finding Julia--although of course he will never admit to us, let alone to himself, why he feels that way. As for transfusing her, maybe Barnabas will simply give her the Collins Universal Restorative--a brandy.

The scene with Barn and Laszlo was fantastic!

And somehow Quentin's realization that Daphne is "the sister of Joanna Mills" has resulted in her suddenly wearing a new dress and a different hairstyle!  [snow_wink]

WTF? Quentin just walks right into Daphne's room without knocking???

As Master of Collinwood, he has the legal right to walk into any room of the house without knocking whenever he pleases. Everything--and that includes servants like Daphne--on the Collinwood estate belongs to him, right down to the clothes on Samantha's back. I'm assuming Maine didn't yet have a Married Women's Property Act in 1840.

Poor Tad and Carrie! Now we know that for all their blundering around, Barn and Julia STILL haven't managed to change history.

The elderly Dr. Welles (perhaps named for Violet Welles?) manages to stay alive by very wisely making this his only appearance on DS.

Sounds great--thanks for the heads-up! But I hope you'll remind us more forgetful members....

Almost every story line does seem to end with a corpse-littered stage, but yes, this one takes the cake!

Quentin actually puts down his drink when he runs out of the drawing room to help his father!  [wink2]

We can see that Daphne is beginning to be distracted from her mission. It seems she is actually trying to understand Quentin and reacts to his parents' story with horror--even while still planning to kill him with her teeny little derringer.

Magnus, I do like your theory about the Quentins and love. Makes sense to me. Neither of them actually dumps the previous girlfriend but simply seems to forget her completely. And I do like that little bit of spooky music too.

The real casualty in all of this, of course, is poor Daniel--my heart goes out to him on account of Louis Edmonds' splendid portrayal. I wonder if Daniel ever had any real happiness in his life, aside from the time Ben coached him on what to take with him when running away from home--and that was way back in 1795/6/7....

Quentin does not strike me as the wood working type, but hey, at Collinwood, anything is possible.

But wait--he may very well be the wood-working type! Didn't he also build the Rose Cottage dollhouse for Carrie--presumably before he and Tad went to sea?

It's too bad, too, that Storm and Vestoff's 1841 PT incarnations dropped out of sight after a couple of episodes.

Yes--I did love VV's pretty green frock. It really set off her hair and complexion.

I'm with you, MB. I love Samantha and (to a lesser extent) Gerard and Gabriel. Certainly Sam isn't one-dimensional--she is unhappily married herself, and she didn't want to see Roxanne share her fate by marrying Lamar. Virginia Vestoff is wonderful.

The opening scene with Lamar and Gerard was hilarious.

Selby does a nice save with those pesky curtains, although I feel compelled to add that if Quentin has the leisure to design and build the Stairway through Time, he doesn't look so good compared with our industrious Elizabeth Collins Stoddard! But maybe it's his occupational therapy after roaming the jungles of Brazil, trying to get home.

Never mind horoscopes or yet another innocent accused of witchcraft, what bugs me about this ep. is that Gerard does his first dream-trick-thingy. Oy oy oy!

Poor Julia! I'll bet she wishes she could dash in and out of the foyer instead of being Roxanne's victim. (BTW, Roxanne's feral beauty is stunning.) And no doubt she's remembering how parallel Angelique nearly killed her in parallel 1970.

Some episodes do seem to be more action packed than others, don't they? I suppose it depended on which day of the week they were aired, with Fridays and Mondays being busier than the mid-week days.

"Soul-transferring" was just my own shorthand for whatever it is that happens when Gerard puts on the Mask of Baal. Certainly Judah does bring out the worst in Gerard. At first Gerard seemed to be just an ordinary, garden-variety opportunist (as I think Julia says), but Judah certainly took advantage of his desire to get everything that he sees as belonging to Quentin--including Daphne. And once Gerard/Judah achieved his goals, it would certainly be easy for him to ruin the rest of the Collinses, as he pretty nearly will.

Sorry about any spoilers--I'm kind of in a hurry, but I did want to respond.

Poor Barn! He knows that staking Roxanne will give her peace, yet he can't bear the thought of it.

Whatever her faults, Samantha proves she is a loyal sister by refusing to let Trask give the eulogy at Roxanne's funeral.

Fabulous scene with Angelique/Valerie/Miranda versus Julia. Kudos to both ladies!

And special kudos to Donna Wandrey, who allowed Makeup to transform her into a vampire of unearthly beauty! (At least she isn't stuck wearing that hideous orange disaster.)

Welcome back, Humbert Allen Astredo! Judah sure made soul-transferring look easy, didn't he.

Poor, hapless Lorna. Of course it would be Quentin who gave her such a gently charitable eulogy. But we always knew that wearing that ring was a big mistake! And so the frame-up begins....

Daniel and Miranda don't seem to be in Ep. 1141--? But Gerard is really mean to poor little Carrie, isn't he.

Daphne seems to be experiencing some regrets, doesn't she?

I enjoy the trial scenes too. And we get a double-header: two fine performances by Louis Edmonds.
