Jeremy and Carrie really are sweet together, aren't they. Maybe Jeremy, with his sunny good nature, takes after his (apparently long-dead) mother.

It's always a pleasure to hear Joan Bennett say almost anything, whether with a French "n" or not. Michelle Pfeiffer will have a tough act to follow.

Ha ha ha! I thought it looked familiar--I haven't seen HoDS in ages, I'm afraid. Somehow it seemed much bigger last night than in the movie, but I guess that was because it was empty of furniture.

I wonder if that was really Greystoke that the team was looking at via Google Earth (or whatever, maybe the navy's own special edition of same). I thought the whole sequence was beautifully photographed and the house shown to great advantage.

The funniest part is that all the time, when Trask catches Quentin kneeling over Mildred's body, the cell door is open and Quentin apparently doesn't even think of escaping! Later on, we get yet another handsome shadow profile of him.

The wedding scene--all those candles, all that white satin and lace--is sooo romantic. Too bad Daphne is marrying the wrong guy.

I thought it was very touching when Desmond kissed Daphne's hand. Aw......

Yes, it would have been fun to see father and daughter together. I imagine that if Mildred had lived to a ripe old age, she would have turned out just like Dear Old Dad. The voodoo/death sequence was very well done. I suppose Gerard used the real live Edith just because he can and because it will bind her to him even more stringently.

Poor Desmond--he's the only rational person at Collinwood now. But it's always great fun to see Samantha, Gabriel and Edith squabbling.

This is one of several episodes in a row where Quentin casts a handsome shadow profile on the wall of his cell.  [snow_smiley]

I suspect Gerard was so sure of himself--and so sure that Angelique didn't suspect him--that he felt perfectly confident about walking into the room. It would be consistent with his arrogance.

Oops--meant to say that Edith took the gloves off with Gabriel but lots more for Gerard.  [snow_wink]

Samantha failed to notice not only the rumpled afghan but also that the door she had left open behind her was closed when she returned.

Poor Daniel. When he came to Colinwood back in 1796 he was spirited and adventurous. The change in him, so well portrayed by Louis Edmonds, was so sad to see.

Maybe because he's only a cousin of some sort--perhaps Flora married a cousin of Daniel's and that's why Demond called him "Uncle Daniel"--anyway, I'm sure the family has made Desmond feel like a poor relation and his opinion not worth considering. He certainly doesn't have any authority to back him up against Samantha and Gabriel.

Edith has certainly taken the gloves off--and lots more too for Gerard.  [snow_wink]

More fine turns by Pennock and Edmonds as Gabriel tries to ingratiate himself with his father.

Welcome back, Barnabas! We get a nice view of his long, lean legs as he stares out the drawing-room windows. His scene with Daniel is pretty good too.

All those dreams are tiresome, but what's really scary is Gerard/Judah's seemingly infinite patience in stalking his prey.

A shocking finale!

True, but Quentin is so charmingly disheveled!  [snow_smiley]

I always liked Elizabeth Eis. And Lydia, I love your comment about those Grimes family gatherings.

And too bad about Michael Stroka. I feel like we were just getting to know Laszlo--and yes, I'm pretty sure his last name is Ferrari! Perhaps like Count Petofi's aide-de-camp, Laszlo also, um, decamped.

I hope so too. I have to admit I cringed and abandoned all hope when I heard it was going to be a Tim Burton oeuvre, but I'm inclined to be ever so slightly hopeful now that Michelle Pfeiffer may play Elizabeth.

This ep. features one of Louis Edmonds's finest hours. David Henesy also does very well indeed.

And the mystery of Mordecai Grimes's ex-cattle is solved.

But where the heck is Barnabas? And Julia?

Another great fight scene with Quentin and Samantha.

Trask is so sure of himself that he offers Samantha tea in her own home. And yes, after she refused to let him speak at Roxanne's funeral. But then again, she's lost both her sibs in such a short time--maybe even only a few days--so she's bound to be completely stressed out.

Poor Quentin doesn't seem even the least bit surprised when he's arrested. For someone whom Daphne's ghost (in 1970) described as having a "will of iron," he sure isn't putting up much of a fight, is he?
