A very long and wonderful scene (in two parts) with Samantha and Gerard. Since Daphne is spending the night at Flora's house, they can be sure they won't be disturbed.

Quentin and Samantha's marriage must also have been arranged. Probably it was one of those things that seemed like a good idea to all concerned at the time, especially Mr. Drew Senior, who probably dreamed of the glory of having the biggest bank in town allied with the biggest fishing fleet in town. Possibly neither Quentin nor Samantha had been in love before and never figured on love being a component of marriage and mistook sublimated anger for passion. So when they fell--for other people--they both fell hard.

I loved Flora and Barnabas's after-dinner chat, especially when Flora pours "Barnabas, dear" a cup of coffee--and he can actually drink it! But the poor guy is so susceptible and falls right into Trask's clutches. A cask of Amontillado, anyone?

What a pleasant surprise, Quentin says when Gabriel comes to visit--and it's half true, anyway.

Who knew Carrie was such a good artist? That's a lovely sketch of Jeremy. Very cute scene with her and Leticia.

Daphne is getting way above her station when she refers to her employer's family as Samantha, Edith and Gabriel without any "Mrs." or "Mr." as would be proper!

Gerard's huffy insistence that he never betrayed Quentin all the time they were at sea together makes me wonder if he didn't actually push Tad overboard, forcing Quentin to jump overboard to save his son and heir. Maybe Gerard--even when he was still just Gerard--was already planning some kind of takeover of Collinwood. We know that pretty much everything Gerard/Judah says is a lie.

And yes, yet another murder-in-bed switcheroo--although the first one with Barnabas and Julia is still the best!

Although pink is my least favorite color, I just love Angelique's knock-out iridescent pink gown.

Lydia, what a thrilling scenario you've sketched! I think it would have been a hoot to see Amadeus Collins and his various relatives living in rudely built, filthy log cabins, grubbing their way to the top of the heap. And your image of Barn I Chinging his way back to 1692 with Julia on his lap is priceless! I'm sure she would have been accused of witchcraft (another trial scene!) for running around trying to doctor everyone or give them transfusions at least.

I suppose lifting the curse must be Miranda/Angelique/Valerie's first altruistic act since 1692 at least, if not longer. Maybe in 1795 she was just out of practice. And of course the last thing she would want would be for Gerard to destroy Barnabas.

I think Louis Edmonds's four ghostly characters are highlights of the series, much more fun that the feckless Roger or the pompous, blustering Edward.

I think you're right, Janet--Joshua expunged Angelique's name from the "official" history just as he eliminated any mention of poor Millicent's marriage. In fact, I don't think anyone in 1968 knew about Angelique except for Barnabas and Vicki--after she returned from her "strange and terrifying journey" into the past. I could be wrong, but I think Barn and Vicki even have a conversation about Angelique somewhere in there.

You've also got to love Naomi's gorgeous gowns!

And yes, Barrett and Karlen are even more adorable in PT 1841 than in "our" 1841. The writers even managed to have them "meet cute"!

I love the scene with Barnabas and Julia! She stops herself just in time, and Barnabas gives her such a sharp look! One of my favorite scenes ever. The previous scene with Barn and Angelique is another high point in the series.

And yes, I bet Jeremy was brought in as a romance for Carrie. I have to say I never thought it might be strange for Julia to talk as if Carrie has a future--but how could she tell the poor girl she was doomed to die? I think Barn and Julia should be consulting Leticia several times a day at least, to see if they've changed the future at all!

It does seem odd that Flora said nothing about her séance when Gerard and Trask were visiting. Funny how they arranged to meet at Rose Cottage without even consulting her, let alone get invited!

More sweet scenes with Jeremy and Carrie. I gather she's about fifteen or so, but Jeremy doesn't seem inclined to wait till she's older to take her away with him. In the Collinwood universe, maybe the age of consent is thirteen, like it used to be in Texas.

Daphne kissing Gerard back: That doesn't seem so implausible to me, since he's sent her far too many dreams already. Maybe this subplot will pick up some speed now. I confess I find it pretty irritating.

Meanwhile, poor Barnabas is helpless to prevent the revelation of his terrible revenge on the original Reverend Trask....

And so the trial wears on. It was nice to see Quentin's smile of loving pride when Daphne refuses to testify against him, but he was probably making another mistake. Too bad Desmond still hasn't gotten him to see the light.

Daphne's declaration that Samantha is incapable of love: Well, they were in the middle of a good, old-fashioned cat fight, so Daphne may have just been speaking in the heat of the moment. Daphne may be the heroine, but Samantha isn't an outright villain.

Nicholas and Angelique's reunion is one of my favorite scenes too, though there are other highlights later on.

Possibly the best scene ever may be Barnabas and Abigail. Wow.

Farewell to David Henesy! If he isn't hanging out in another room, he's probably in Boston.

Probably on Desmond's advice, Quentin has finally, finally shed his demonic ring now that his trial is starting. That alone makes Desmond much more useful that Peter Bradford ever was.

Samantha is vengeful almost to the point of recklessness in testifying against Quentin, who somehow doesn't seem surprised at this turn of events either. I guess she can't do anything by halves. I think it was still illegal for a wife to testify against her husband in 1840, but if the court believes that colonial laws supersede the U.S. Constitution, anything is possible.

As for Judah's vengeance, maybe he's just waiting for Quentin to be convicted and maybe even on the scaffold before he does his Big Fat Gloating Reveal. That way, he can enjoy watching Quentin dying a terrible, despairing death, knowing that his (Q's) descendants are hopelessly doomed. Judah certainly doesn't seem to be applying his satanic powers to the judges--at least not yet.

The minister would have been required by law to record the marriage of Barnabas and Angelique--but Barnabas or even Joshua could have engineered a convenient, ledger-destroying fire at the parsonage later on.  [snow_grin]

Wow, Barnabas was on some really thin ice there at the séance! It's a good thing Flora was distracted by Gerard when he asked her to act as his hostess (only temporarily, of course) at Collinwood. She's so amusingly flattered!

Yet another dream for Daphne. How annoying. But it was interesting to see how the set designers have recycled the elements of Josette's room to make the bridal chamber.

Drat--almost committed a spoiler here. But all's well now that I've discovered the "Modify" button!  [snow_blush]
