Interesting, yes, but they seem to have forgotten completely about Forever Knight, a Canadian series about the 800-year-old Nick Knight, formerly (yes) a knight in medieval France. After repenting of his previous bloodthirsty career, Nick is a detective in Toronto. Doctor Natalie Lambert, a city medical examiner, is the only one who knows his secret, but there's a whole vampire community in Toronto. The show ran for only three seasons, but I enjoyed it. Geraint Wynn-Davies was exceptionally fine in the title role.

I'm pretty sure Bramwell didn't go to Boston with his mother and Justin. He would have been kind of a third wheel, no?

Morgan's so happy now that he's gone over to the dark side!  I'm sure it will have a wonderful effect on his art.  I'm not sure we were ever told precisely what sort of an artist he was, but since he played the piano, I think maybe he was a musician.  Will he compose wonderful danses macabres?  Or an Ode to Jealousy?

I think when RT Daphne or whoever sees PT 1840 for the first time, Catherine says something to Morgan about painting or his studio or both. But since we never hear about his art again, I never gave it much thought. Maybe he will paint bizarre pictures of the Locked Room with a mad--or dead--Bramwell in it.

I was thinking: "If I were Kendrick, I'd plant a tree today."  Then I thought about all the trees at Collinwood and decided I would plant something else.  A nice clematis, maybe, that would grow up and cling to the great house.

Or some kind of climbing plant that would start to tear the Great House apart. Come to think of it, even Morgan went to a locksmith before he took Catherine's place in the Room.

And maybe Kendrick was so intent on what he was about to do that he didn't really have brain space to really realize what Morgan was planning. But then again, he's well intentioned but not very bright.

FAREWELL, GAZEBO SET!

Morgan is almost trembling with suppressed emotion when he talks to Catherine after she returns from the gazebo. When he sits down to write his "correspondence," in his excitement he forgets to dip the pen in the inkwell.

Presumably Daphne's funeral takes place during the day, but the set is dark enough for night. Does anyone know the biblical source of Catherine's very affecting reading? And couldn't DC have sprung for a few extras? Not even Josette is there.

We can now see that Barnabas's first act as a wealthy man is a sad one--he has bought himself a magnificent suit of mourning and gotten a good haircut. He also checks a very handsome gold watch when he's about to leave for his appointment. Was it a legacy from Barnabas or a new acquisition? If it was Barnabas's perhaps Josette had to pawn it while he was away, and finally he has been able to redeem it.

Absolutely heart-stopping final scenes!

Bram's ship came in, but he's still in the scruffy suit.
Not for long now, if I remember correctly.
Anyway, Bramwell's ship may have come in, but he may still be selling off the cargo, so he might still be short of cash. Meanwhile, he's also (presumably) organizing Daphne's funeral and lurking about with Catherine. At least he has the grace to be taken aback when Kendrick tells him he's going into the Locked Room--and to be angry about the fact that Melanie has suffered more than anyone else.

Bramwell enjoys baiting Morgan too much for his own good, but I guess the temptation would be hard for anyone to resist.

Poor Kendrick! He must be in the pit of despair after seeing Melanie/Amanda. Her final words to him sent a shiver up my spine. Yes, a great scene with him and Julia--who is rather surprisingly sympathetic.

The servants may be invisible to the rest of us, but somehow Bramwell has managed to cultivate them as an informal network of spies. And now Morgan has seen and heard that supposedly secret meeting at the gazebo. Things are reaching critical mass!

Yes, I believe Uncle Roger is correct. If I remember, Brutus mentioned the idea of a lottery in his letter.

Maybe the family is having all this trouble BECAUSE Bramwell has always refused to participate in the lottery. If so, he certainly isn't taking the hint, is he?

Flora may or may not have been born a Collins, but what counts is that she married into the family, so that makes her one. A woman left her father's house to marry; a man abrought his wife home to his house. Thus women were transferred from the custody of one man to another--and any property they had went with them.

If the recycled playroom is her boudoir, good for her. The playroom was always one of my favorite sets.

Almost the last episode and we get (I think) a new set: Flora's boudoir. Yay set designers!

I love the scene with Julia and Kendrick--can this be a slight thaw?

I'll bet everyone was glad Kendrick insisted on participating in the lottery, and I love the expression on his face as he succumbs to the power of the occasion. The more people take part, the greater the odds of any individual's NOT being chosen.

Not even a mention of a funeral for Gabriel. That seems odd, considering that Flora still thought of him as the baby of the family. But they're dropping like flies, as is usual when we approach the end of a story line. A corpse-littered stage and an almost-empty Collinwood seem to be mandatory.

I didn't watch soaps back when DS was in its first run (too busy being a Beatles fan), so I was just taking a wild guess about the splashy wedding stuff. But DS could have been the first--oh, well.

Catherine has certainly backed herself into a corner, hasn't she. And I'm sure a large part of Bramwell's grief for Daphne is sheer guilt. It's fun--although a bit disconcerting--to see him and Julia sparring.

I doubt if Morgan notices much of anything except the relative locations of Catherine and Bramwell. But who knows, maybe it was part of Brutus's plan to lure him to the secret room and have him get possessed. Maybe he was hoping that James would kill the whole family, but he turned out to be able to resist Brutus, at least a bit.

Later: I'll bet Elizabeth also footed the bill for a large and ornate marker with an inscription about how Matthew was a "faithful servant" or something.
