Our school district still has Junior High Schools....and pantyhose finally became inexpensive and commonplace at the same time the district I grew up in began allowing girls to wear pants to school.  To hell with the pantyhose....I wore jeans every day right through high school and college.

I remember looking around the studio one day in a college production class and noting that every single person in the control room, including the Prof., was wearing jeans and a denim work shirt.  We looked like a chain gang.  This was 1974 or so....gawd, I'm old!!! [lghy]

We are Middle school even though my daughter's school still says "west junior High"
i have to go out to buy pantyhose every time  I wear a dress Hee hee
we had to wear dresses annd skirts Ick!!!but had casual days every few months!

also remember the boys on the stairs trying to look up our dresses!

I feel sorry for you Jennifer, can you feel the heat yet? We're having record high temps of 107 here in Las Vegas, as soon as I bring my daughter home from school, we head out to the pool for the rest of the day. We've been going out since April, and we are already nice and tanned.

thanks Cheryl you are sweet!it's getting warmer here but 107 :o I went to Las Vegas in july once and someone had told me it was a dry heat and didn't feel as bad as the heat waves back here
Boy they were wrong! 107 is HOT! Hope you enjoy the pool do you have to put ice cubes in it? It must get warm too!
take care

Current Talk '02 I / Adam
« on: June 08, 2002, 10:43:13 PM »
i've always found Adam annoying but in watching him this time have to say that Robert Rodan did a good job
He is annoying because he acts like a child and wants everything NOW! while before i would just FF through his scenes i am now watching them. he doesn't listen,
has fits when he doesn't get his own way etc... the poor boy needs a few too many time outs it would have been interesting as Robin pointed out in another post to see him return more mature!

i hear you J99 and i 've been going with the bare leg look half the time but you are right it is pretty funny!
also you do have a point a lot of people do like the garter/stocking feel better and Grayson seemed like the type!
LOl

Dear Jennifer,

You know, Dom "Zim" Zimmer is a very nice man.  He even was an "original Met" on my favorite baseball team.  But, I'm sure remember you former Boston Red Sox pitcher Bill "Spaceman" Lee?  Well, when the aptly nicknamed "Spaceman" Lee pitched for Red Sox manager Don Zimmer, the "Spaceman" rather hilariously, albeit unkindly, refered to Mr. Zimmer as "Porky Pig."

I have to agree with you about Mr. Zimmer's unfortunate appearance in that hemmorroid commercial. It's as funny as Bob Dole and Rafael Palmiero's appearance (as paid spokesmen) for Viagra.  What's next, the eminent Prof. T. Elliot Stokes pitching the effectiveness of the "Body Solutions" weight loss system?

Sincerely,

Bob the Bartender, who's on the "Sea Food Diet," I see "See Food and I Eat it."

I  guess Bob Mr Zimmer was not well liked when he coached here and Bill Lee was a crowd favorite and i believe also stated to call him the Gerbil which has sort of stuck around here(You know us big bad Boston fans)
i actually meant no dis respect to the man!
there was a sighting of Bill Lee a few months ago
and his picture was in the Boston Globe think DZ has aged better Bill looks like Rip Van ! still love him though crazy as he is!

jennifer

Don't hate The Mets though like those dreaded Yankees!(even with 1986) and DZ somehow manages to irritate
the fans here as a Yankee caach!

Catchin' up on this weeks DS. . and I noted when Julia was at Eliots house, sitting on the couch, you could totally see up her dress. . .she's a nylon stocking gal with garter belts no pantyhose for her . . my my Eliot got an eyefull.

Now what other clothing snafus happened on DS?? We've done props galore . . anyone have an obviously unzipped fly or anything?[silly]

actually J99 that brings us back to the topic of pantyhose this was 1968 and we all wore garters and stockings
i remember wearing them in junior high with short dresses and always trying to pull my dress down so they didn't show! LOL! pantyhose still become popular ,probaly cheaper, around this time (maybe 1970)so Julia
was just wearing what we all wore!

jennifer

i know i'm dating myself with calling middle school junior high my middle schooler corrects me all the time!

I think my problem with Rachel was not so much that she was weak.  It was that she was written to be dumber than a grapefruit ;)

You know, I'm not a big KLS fan.  BUT.  I really liked her Kitty, Lady Hampshire at least until the writers removed the spine from the character and went down the same tired road.

I would have liked to see what she could have done with Samantha, provided of course that Curtis and co. weren't planning on having her turn into Josette Clone #17.

Luciaphil

You'r right Luciaphil would have liked to see Rachel
given a few more brain cells!
they also did wimp out on Lady H

How could I forget "Night of the Living Dead"?[/b]

The movie that made me decide to be cremated! The movie that I sat through by myself in a theater in absolute terror only to remember in the very last frames that someone had told me how it ended?

Good point kuanyin saw that movie the other night
cremation  would be better!

also for all of who you have totally grossed me out just hearing you describe the movie "Freaks" what is it about?

Hmmmmm.  Jennifer, I'm afraid I have to disagree.  I think that a man who mindlessly persecutes innocent women he doesn't even know is more dangerous than a man who kills a specific woman for a specific reason and frames someone else to save his own hide.

I know this has nothing to do with Dark Shadows in the 60's, but we're here discussing it in 2002......I think religious fanatics are the most dangerous people on earth.....but then, dozens of people I love (including my husband) were at work in Manhattan on 9/11.

As far as the 3 Trasks go....The Reverend is the only one I've ever seen in action....but Jerry Lacy is brilliant in the role, that's for sure.

Raineypark

I don't know Rainey i don't like religious fantics either
but he felt she was quilty ! wait till you see Gregory
as Prof Stokes so elegantly puts it!

sorry to hear your husband was in danger those pieces of crude came into my townand started their despisable acts here on a flight that my father sometimes takes
i know they claim to be doing it for Allah but hope they are all burning in hell

Dear Fellow Dark Shadows Fans,

Thank the good Lord for the return of that paragon of moral rectitude, a man clearly in control of his carnal desires, the redoubtable Rev. Ian Trask!

Why, you may ask, am I so delighted by the return of this kindly cleric?  It's because the Sci-Fi Channel has unfortunately decided to air the Rafael Palmiero Viagra commercial during its broadcast of Dark Shadows.

I must say, the reverend's devout great-daughter-in-law, Minerva Trask, would be appalled by this almost callous act of disrespect by the Sci-Fi Channel, made during the return from the great beyond of her illustrious ancestor, in his fight against the forces of devil himself.

Hopefully, with the Rev. Trask's return, he will be able to stem the tide of the American public's obsessive preoccupation with prurient matters, which our British cousins across the pond politely refer to as "country matters."

On anothe note,  I was greatly moved by Sam Evans' heartfelt attempt to help Adam with his mastery of the English language.  You know, I almost expected Adam's first complete sentence to be:

"Willie baaaaaaaad..............Viagra........gooooood!"

Sincerely,

Bob the Bartender, a man, who, like a famous former US president has unfortunately, from time to time, "lusted in his heart."

my question when i saw this commercial for the first time "what was Rafael thinking?"(oh well maybe i can figure that out)! but next to The Don "the gerbil" Zimmer's hemmorroids i really don't want to hear about it! :o

i hated Gregory the most beacuse he killed his wife
and framed someone else! i felt he was the most evil!
The Rev was just a fanatic and I feel truly believed he was doing the right thing! lamar killed Angelique in the heat of the moment where Gregory plotted things to make himself rich and was a cold blooded killer! They were great but i liked Nickolas and Count P too as great villians![evilb]
great question!

It's interesting you should mention "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", Mark, because I was just thinking of it while reading about slasher films in other responses to this topic.  I saw it for the first time two summers ago, and rewatched it with my friends this past spring.  It's the most recent film that has scared me consistently throughout, and you're right:  that sense of dread that permeates the entire film is palpable.  "TCM" is one exception to the "slasher films aren't generally scary" rule.

I'm a big fan of old ghost movies in general:  "The Innocents" and "The Uninvited" are two examples.  As far as other ghoulies, ghosties, and long-legged beasties, werewolves hold the title.  Vampires, I've always thought, are sexy as hell, but werewolves are just plain terrifying, mostly cuz they just wanna eat you.  When I was 7 or 8 I was mesmerized by "American Werewolf in London" and "Silver Bullet", both which scared the living hell out of me.  They still do.  Werewolves, man ... brrrrrr.

Nicky

PS -- Luciaphil darling ... good point re: Stephen King in Danse Macabre.  I love the man and adore 85 percent of his work (and I really can't say a bad word about him; when I was in 2nd grade, the man sent me an autographed copy of "Cycle of the Werewolf" with the script included, knowing full well I was a 7 year old kid in MT, so I think I owe him considerably), but you're right ... he points out how scary it is not to rip the door off, and then promptly rips the door off every friggin' time.  Go figure.

nicky SK gave books (not horror of course)
to all the kindergarden kids in maine (at least in Portland)and when she mentioned her cousin(me)
was a big fan he gave two for my kids too! What a guy!
