Roger makes another snide reference to the fact that Elizabeth hasn't left Collinwood in eighteen years. He declares he had important things to do and reveals that he drove to Bill's house but didn't find him at home.

I suppose I’m just quibbling when I remark that the body at the foot of the cliff is wearing a light-colored raincoat, as opposed to the dark one we never saw Bill Malloy without in life.

Vicki and Carolyn meet on Widows' Hill. The breeze is strong enough to blow the girls' hair around, but the shrubbery around them never stirs.

David writes "DEATH" on Vicki's mirror and is forced to confess that he did it and not the widows. Carolyn loses her watch, and she and Vicki go to Widows' Hill to look for it. When David asks Elizabeth where Vicki is going and she tells him, he says triumphantly, That's not what she'll find! She'll find DEATH!

Sadly, Bill Malloy is no longer missing.

The Chopin that Elizabeth plays in this episode is very difficult and requires a right wrist of steel and absolutely independent fingers. I wonder when she found the time to practice--although she wouldn't have to worry about waking the neighbors if she decided to play after everyone had gone to bed.

Day 5 or day 6? It's the morning after Bill missed the meeting.

When Burke went to visit Sam, Sam already had two cups ready for coffee--was he anticipating the visit?

All too soon, Sam switches from coffee to liquor. But in those blessed pre-product-placement days, someone carefully blacked out the brand name on the bottle.

Where are we all heading? Maggie asks her pop. After she leaves, he replies, Toward death, Maggie darling! Then he throws some paint at the sketch of Burke (on canvas).

They also left out Nick Knight of Forever Knight.

Maybe Bill did his own bachelor-style cooking, but back in those days, cleaning was considered "women's work." Mrs. Johnson did a lot more work than just answering the phone.  [ghost_rolleyes]

Regarding your spoiler,
perhaps it's David who is wrong about the murderer and not the crystal ball. He hasn't stopped hating his father. However, the crystal ball is correct about Joe and Carolyn never getting married.
As far as I can remember, it isn't a Robbie the Robot toy, just one of those battery-operated ones that every household seemed to have in those days.

However, Robbie still rules!

True, MT, but even Bill is aware (and has told Elizabeth) that Burke is asking around about buying up all of the Collinses' IOUs. That seems even more explosive to me.

Elizabeth is a real Chopin fan! In ep. 2, she played his C-minor Prelude. Tonight, she's playing the Etude no. 3 in E major, Opus 10. She and Carolyn look very romantic in their robes and with their hair down.

Roger blusters about returning THE PEN to Burke--but where is it?

Elizabeth seems to have had premonitions at various times in her life. Is this something that runs in the family? Surely she is thinking of Roger when she tells Carolyn, Perhaps the lamb has already gone to the sacrificial altar. But later on, when he returns home, she says Bill told her that he (R.) lied at Burke's trial and that he in fact was driving on the night of the fatal accident.

Maybe Sam was improvising about where Bill's phone was.

I like those segues: The tall foyer clock at Collinwood strikes 11:30, and in the next scene, the clock in Roger's office does too. Later, Bill's phone rings and rings, and in the next scene, Carolyn and Elizabeth fondly recall a Halloween trick that involved a ringing phone.

Or maybe he just wants to get the whole business out in the open and is dropping hints that he hopes will push events forward.

I can't think of any reason that Burke would NOT give Carolyn Blair's real name. After all, what could a kid like her (as I'm sure he thinks of her) do about it?

At last, Vicki realizes that the man named Sam whom she met atop Widows' Hill was actually Sam Evans!

In these early days, the writers seem to be pitching Collinsport as some kind of artists' colony.

Great bit of dialogue with VW and RC! Earlier, when he glances briefly at the drawing, Vicki tells him, David has a lot of talent--and I won't let you kill that talent. He might kill you, Roger replies indifferently.

Later, when Vicki gets Roger to take a really good look at David's drawing, he comments, Collinwood, with all its dark shadows--he's captured it, all right.

Have we had our last scene with TWO bearded men?

Poor Vicki thinks that Sam's secret is that he knows who she really is! Roger laughs hysterically at this idea. Rushing to the meeting, he tells her, I don't have time to discuss it with you. But in true Collins fashion, he does have time for a drink before he leaves the house.
