Sheriff Patterson is admiring a Collins portrait when Roger comes downstairs. Roger tells him the portrait is of his great-uncle Benjamin Collins. Hmmm....

David is all dressed up in a suit and tie in anticipation of his father's imminent arrest.

Roger is positively cruel to Elizabeth, just as David is cruel to Vicki. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I think Vicki is still getting David's measure. Some of the 130 orphanage kids may have been troubled, but I'm sure David would take the cake.

Regarding Nancy's comments:

Baby Barnabas and the hills of Albania--now there's the makings of a story line!  [ghost_cheesy] [ghost_cheesy] [ghost_cheesy]

HBC's wig is an awful color. But Jonny Lee Miller looks great. JD looks like he's twelve and playing dress-up. Michelle Pfeiffer looks good, but where are her pearls? I'm having a hard time dealing with the new Willie Loomis.

Oh, well, I supposed I'll get used to it all eventually....

David and Roger arrived at Collinwood only recently, so David would hardly have known Bill at all. So the idea of Bill's death is probably fairly abstract for him, except for his hope that his father will be arrested.

On the other hand, Carolyn has lived her whole life at Collinwood, so Bill would have known her from the time she was an infant.

David is getting very interested in tide charts. Not a good sign. When Sheriff Patterson shows up, David gets all excited at the prospect of seeing his father taken away in handcuffs.

I don't remember Love on a Rooftop but we were Green Hornet fans!  [ghost_grin]

Maggie wears a different waitress cap, even though it's the same day.

The whole business of Burke's shocked reaction does seem contrived.

The sheriff gets interested in tidal charts.

Now Vicki suspects that Roger knows something about her past and doesn't want to tell her. Really, Vicki, it isn't ALL about you!

Thanks. By now, poor Vicki probably figures that even a dysfunctional family is better than none.

At the BW, Sam has whiskey with a beer chaser.

In Vicki's room, Carolyn tells Vicki that Bill's dream was to spend a month on a desert island, but now he'll never be able to. Elizabeth arrives to ask Carolyn to go into town to find Roger. Carolyn stops on her way out of the room to give her mother a hug. As the interaction between mother and daughter gets more emotional, poor, forgotten Vicki, who has turned away to give them privacy, seems to get smaller and smaller with painful loneliness--nice bit by Alexandra Moltke!

Once again, all by itself in the drawing room, the Collins Family History opens up to the page with Josette's picture. We can see that Josette is dressed in a vaguely 1830s style. Then the camera pulls back to show that Carolyn opened it!  [ghost_cheesy]

Today's statistic: There were 130 beds at the foundling home.

Elizabeth has made Sheriff Patterson some coffee and serves it with the good china. Nice touch. The sheriff gets to sit back and watch as Elizabeth and Roger quarrel.

I'm sure poor Sam can't afford to have a lawyer, hence the hotel safe.

It would have been fun to have some outdoor action scenes on the show. Or even just one person wearing a wet slicker and a sou'wester.

Of course it could be a costume party after all, and he's going as Michael Jackson.  [ghost_tongue]

I think that Elizabeth's first-name basis with the local constabulary is just an example of her high status as Mistress of Collinwood. They might even have been in grade school together, for all we know.

What if parallel time Collinwood were torn down after the fire?  Some unsuspecting person from our time might be in the room in the east wing one day when it changed, and fall down a ten feet or so to the ground, and then have to climb a ladder and sit on it like St. Simeon Stylites until the room changed again.

I can just see Professor Timothy Elliot Stokes volunteering!  [ghost_grin]
