Thanks for your kind words, MT! I used to make copious notes for a friend who didn't have access to cable when the show was on the SciFi channel (Syfy now), and somehow I just never got rid of them.

But I didn't catch everything, so I'm really loving all those hair-touching references!

This episode is a bit more interesting because it's more about Barn and Julia and Willie.

Barnabas fires Jeff, but Angelique has different ideas.

Julia tells Barnabas that Jeff's work is done and that Jeff and Vicki have broken up. Julia hypothesizes, Perhaps he wanted to destroy the body out of revenge. You’re such a romantic, Julia, Barnabas comments somewhat disparagingly. I used to be, Julia says wistfully, but not any more.

Barnabas orders Julia to get used to the idea of Maggie Evans as the life force for the body. Willie knows about this and begs Julia to use her influence with Barnabas to keep him from using Maggie. I feel sick about what I’m doing, he complains. You and Barnabas, you feel sick too, but you just keep on going. Julia promises to try but is doubtful of success. No one can change his mind, she says unhappily. Willie says miserably, I can’t bear to think of Maggie strapped to the table, in danger of dying. Julia is sympathetic but she stops him cold with, You forget, Willie--I watched Barnabas. Then she says goodnight and leaves Willie alone.

Barnabas comes back upstairs after Julia leaves and tells Willie to lock up downstairs. You gonna go to sleep now? Willie asks. If I can, Barnabas answers. Yeah, I guess you do have trouble sleeping, Willie dares to comment. What do you mean? asks Barnabas. Nothing, Willie insists, but Barnabas is highly displeased as he watches Willie head for the basement.

Once Willie is alone in the lab, he takes a scalpel and snarls at the lifeless body, Maggie Evans ain’t gonna die for you! Then he raises the scalpel, poised to strike.....

Finding Carolyn asleep, Adam gently touches her shining golden hair to wake her up. The scene where Carolyn gives him the green sweater was very nicely written and nicely done, too. We'll never see Adam wearing another sweater.

Angelique visits Jeff in the basement lab at the Old House. The director was obviously trying for arty shots, and shows us Jeff as seen through one of the pieces of equipment--THEN, AGAIN, Angelique is seen reflected in a mirror!!! Jeff straps Angelique to the table and sets the equipment going. The noises reminded me of nothing so much as the chemistry scene in The Man in the White Suit.

You're right, of course, MB. Eve is definitely a hoot. And Nicholas is always fun. I will persevere in the hope of those reflective adult moments (and MT's witty posts too).  [hall2_smiley]

Jeff meets Angelique twice--once at Nicholas's house and again, worse for him, in the basement of the Old House.

That's all I've got. Not my favorite story line, I guess.

Jeff tries to get information about the experiment out of Julia, who tells him that the less he knows about it, the better. Then she sets him to work on the electronics (such as they are)--his real work--and stalks off upstairs to see Barnabas, leaving Jeff alone with the knowledge that he has made Julia Hoffman distrust him--never a good idea.

Although Angelique has bitten him twice, he never has bite marks on his neck.

As Barnabas sits upstairs in his drawing room, we see a nice closeup of his cane and ring, with a bright fire in the fireplace in the background.

This isn't my favorite story line either, ILB.

C'mon, this is the ONLY time Nancy Barrett was absent--apparently she had the flu.

Meanwhile, alone in his room, Adam is quite unrepentant and wishes he had killed Tony. As he watches Tony drive off, he doesn’t even care any more that Carolyn will be angry. (And that is Tony Peterson’s last appearance on the show, but not Jerry Lacy’s.)

Carolyn appoints Harry Johnson to stay with Adam. But when Harry and Carolyn get to the West Wing, they find that Adam has already made a statement: The door to his room has been knocked right off its hinges and is lying on the floor. However, Adam has left a note. Like all of his utterances, it is brief and to the point. Carolyn kindly reads it for us: You don’t want me. Goodbye. Standing in the middle of the room, she wonders, Where will he go? What will happen to him now?

Adam teases Carolyn by pretending not to remember her name, but then she has to talk fast when he starts to think that her mother has harmed her.

Adam knocks poor Tony out when he spots Tony and Carolyn making up their differences in the age-old manner.

Roger is actually sincerely nice as he congratulates Vicki on her engagement.

Urgh, now we get the whole "buried alive" subplot. Tiresome.

Sorry, I've been insanely busy. But this isn't one of my favorite story lines, even with Nicholas.

At some point we learn that Joe lives at a boardinghouse, not the Collinsport Inn. A long time from now,
we'll see that Paul Stoddard's room looks remarkably similar to Joe's.
The opening VO tells that Angelique is cursed, but Nicholas didn't put a curse on her.

Maggie tries to figure out a reason for Joe’s behavior. Nicholas even hints that someone other than Joe might be the man for her, but he’s careful to make it only a gentle hint, since things are at a dangerous state now.

Willie
sleeps in the same narrow iron bed in which, a long time from now, Bramwell and Catherine will-- never mind that for now!
When Barnabas is wondering where Tom could be, he has a flashback: The docks at night, he murmurs--deserted except for the occasional woman hurrying home. That certainly can't be a pleasant memory, but give him credit for facing up to it.

We get one of THE classic defining moments as Barn carries Julia over the threshold! Again, Barnabas seems genuinely concerned for her.

As Barnabas and Tom fight, the tables are turned, and the mortal Barnabas can't win against Tom's unhuman strength.

Here's Mrs. J's quote, a massive understatement if ever there was one:

Mrs. Johnson is waiting anxiously at Collinwood when Nicholas stops by. She tells him about Elizabeth’s escape from Windcliff and says anxiously (summing up the whole series!), Too many things have happened in this house, too many things you can’t explain. It’s as if there was some force, some evil force hovering over this house, some force that’s trying to destroy this family.

We never find out, but I think she stayed on out of love for "Davey" at first, and then she grew fonder of most of the rest of the Collinses too.

Nice scene in the foyer with Roger and Julia, who uncharacteristically faints.

Elizabeth should recognize Tom Jennings--Carolyn said he once did some wiring work around Collinwood. But he can't have been a good electrician, and most likely was an unlicensed one, because the power keeps going off during storms.

The last scene is one of my faves, and must have created quite a sensation the first time it aired. Julia finally finds Tom’s resting place--a previously unseen crypt. Elizabeth has followed her and accuses her of being in on Roger’s plot--which seems all the more plausible to her since there’s a coffin here, ready and waiting for her. Furious at Elizabeth for intruding on her rendezvous, Julia screams, Get out! Get out! Frightened and bewildered, Elizabeth finally leaves. Julia addresses the object of her desires, forlornly calling, You called to me! Why won’t you appear to me? Where are you? A voice from the shadows answers, I am here, Julia. Julia turns around with unholy anticipation to see Tom emerge from the darkness, his face full of depraved hunger. Julia removes her scarf and falls eagerly into his arms as he seizes her and strikes....

In a very brief scene, Louis Edmonds is very good indeed as the anxious Roger.

Poor Julia is almost like a little child having a terrible nightmare when Barn promises to stay with her.

Nicely eerie green spotlight on Tom when he summons Julia. The final scene in Josette's room was very effective.

Oh, yes--fun to see Julia looking like she's had the best sex ever.  [hall_cheesy] [hall_cheesy] [hall_cheesy]
