Thank you- THANK YOU for that wonderfully detailed account of this year's fest. I'd have to say I fully agree with you regarding
the 2004 remake. Blech! I saw a few minutes worth of it and then had to walk out, at the one and only fest I attended. I
don't know what it was... It just did not play up to my expectations. Sadly, those expectations weren't very high, to tell you
the truth.

I'd love to see pictures, if anyone has them or can direct me to some. :) ~DJ

Yeah, my Mom never imagined the possibility of Depp partaking in the role. She's just
on cloud nine with the idea alone that she'll get to see it in the theatre.

This is just fabulous. A friend was just saying on another board that Depp's star power
alone would be enough to "refuel" interest in Dark Shadows. I imagine this will create a renewed
interest. If it doesn't, I'll be utterly surprised. What a party the fests will be then, huh?
Not that they weren't fun to begin with, but they're going to be packed if this pulls
through! ;)

I wish my mom was still with me so I could share this with her...we always talked about how cool it would be to see Depp in the role.

I knew you guys would already have a thread up and running for this!!

I'm tickled pink, whatever that means. ;) I'm floating on air at the prospect of
this movie actually hitting the theatres. I really never even dreamed that a
new Dark Shadows movie would come to be. But so it seems that this will
come to pass. I just can't believe it... Dammit it all, I'm stunned. This is
magnificent news.

And I STILL want David Tennant to play Willie Loomis. :P ~DJ

Oops. Guess I got ahead of myself there. :D

Harry Johnson. Harry Johnson was, in my opinion, the crux of the entire DS story arc.

ROTF!!!!!

In soap operas, things are ever-changing so it's hard to tell just who's holding the puzzle
pieces in tact. For the sake of not spilling the beans here (i'm always paranoid about dropping
spoilers), I think it all goes according to storyline. Such as with Barnabas' introduction into the
series... Barnabas was released from his coffin, he made his presence known to his family,
kept hidden his little reign of angst and evil, and then we were taken to the past and shown
just WHY he was evil. So, Barnabas was the core of it all for a great while. But was he the
glue that held DS together? Idk. Ask yourselves this... Who's the first character that comes
to mind at the mention of Dark Shadows? Well, I think "Willie" or "Maggie", but that's beside
the point.  :P I think Barnabas made the show the most enjoyable for me, imo... ~DJ

Excellent. Thanks! I don't believe I've ever posted links to my vids here, come to think of it. I'll have to do
that the next time I get a couple uploaded. :)

Again, thanks for answering my questions. ~DJ

Magnus Trask: That's great! Eccleston was a great Doctor, but I think I'm extra fond of Tennant. I'm just getting into the older Doctors, and I'm finding that Tom Baker has his own charm (the 4th incarnate). I've seen a few of his episodes and really liked them, but I'm looking forward to watching the entire series day by day from beginning to end. The novelizations, too, seem pretty appealing, so I won't shirk from reading them.

I once had it in my mind to read the old DS books, but I kept hearing that Willie was described unfavorably by the author. "Ugly"? And then Jeff Clark was handsome? Someone needed to clean out their glasses. ;)

Chocolate Vampire: What is it about artists and acrylic? I've met so many people who seem to love to paint in acrylic. Or is it that it's just a cheaper medium?

The painting is easily identifiable as Julia, first off. The most blatant problem I see here is with the chin and how it droops a little too much. I think there might be a shading problem somewhere around there. Her jawline seems to require a little more. ...The eyes are absolutely beautiful. I think Grayson would have loved this...

Mysterious Benefactor: There you are! And you've answered my question. So, do people post links to their fanfics, rather than just post them here? Not that I have anything of the kind to show  off. I haven't sat and typed out a good fanfic in ages! Vids are another thing. I wasn't thinking about uploading vids directly to the board, but rather direct linking them from- say- youtube (or maybe even just posting a link).

Idk, I just suddenly got the hankering for some Dark Shadows art. I don't see many of that online. There's some gorgeous depictions in the Karlenzine, and a friend of mine has taken a liking to drawing the characters in cartoony form on deviant art, but other than that, the net leaves me starved. :) As far as DS art goes, that is. ;)

I hope it all works out! If an art gallery is in our near future, I certainly can't wait to see all the artists on this board come out of the woodwork. ;)   ~DJ

I wasn't certain where to post this, but I figured since this seems to be quite a frequented portion of this
forum that I might as well post this where everyone's bound to see it. I've been fixating on other series
forums lately, particularly that of Doctor Who. What I've been noticing is a constant in these forums is an
art gallery... a place where one can- say- display avatars, drawings, paintings, manips, songs, fics, vids, etc.
Being very much into art, I was wondering if the creators of this forum would be opposed to dedicating a part
of this board to us art enthusiasts who just love to show off our creative sides? Could be fun. ... :) ~DJ

I'm not sure which website you're talking about, but this one has a slew of good images courtesy of a

Current Talk '07 I / Re: With all the talk about Barnabas heart??
« on: March 13, 2007, 02:55:22 PM »
You see, this is what's always confounded me about vampires... that they can walk around,
dine, drink fine wines, go to operas and plays and NOT leave a stench in their wake. And these
are supposed to be "undead" creatures. So what then does "undead" mean, if all their organs
are still actually working? I was under the impression that the heart was dead, as were most
of the rest of their vital organs, and that they were walking around merely by supernatural
means-- or by the will of (haha) the  >:D, himself.

Btw, I've always wondered about the resounding heartbeat everyone heard, myself. I gathered
that it wasn't the heartbeat of Barnabas himself but the embodiment of fear in his victims... ? ~DJ

Same here. About 2 weeks. Patience, dearie. Patience.

I love my CDs. I can't wait for them to come out with more. I took the liberty of
ordering myself the little behind the scenes CD they've been promising.

Ha!  ;D See, I'm always going around telling everyone to exercise patience (not
just you) and lookee here! I can't even wait for the next CD to come out
before I have to place my order! Oh, well. I guess that's just a testament
to how GOOD these CDs are... or at least they are, imo. ;)

I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed with this last installment. ~DJ

Whaaat? No one was watching Doctor Who around that time? Or was it not on near the run of Dark Shadows...? Sorry, I'm a new DH fan and just couldn't help myself.  ;D

Btw, my little brother and I used to watch The Monkees on Nickelodeon when we were kids. He was obsessed with their music and got me into it, too. ;) ~DJ

Having already zipped over there and voted for him, I now ask myself the same question. But
believe me, I consider myself a VERY private person-- even moreso than Frid probably is--
and I think I'd be honored (even touched) that my fans were at least trying to do something
this special for me.
:) But I don't know the guy, so I can't speak for him. :)   ~DJ
