WOW!! I just finally got around to getting the Barnabas 1967 and Quentin figures. Majestic did a bang up job on the sculpt of the heads, and the clothes, while always difficult, are just fine. I would highly recommend these to anyone who is on the fence. The likenesses look superior to the photos I had seen! I wonder if JF and Selby are pleased with the results?
Petofi, who's a great big kid again today! 8)

Yes, I was very pleased with these two. I love my 1795 Barnabas, too. :)
San Diego Comic Con is this coming week and I think we might hear something about a possible second series then...perhaps they will have prototypes on display? I know they're going to be at the Con. If they're going to continue the line (I hope they are), then I would think we'll be finding out very shortly. Maybe lightning will strike twice for me and they'll announce the second series - I just found out Sideshow is finally releasing a Giles figure for their Buffy line, and I've been thirsting for him for what feels like a very a long time. ;) I may actually be able to complete my Scooby gang.
I'd love to have multiple DS figures as well.
-
It goes without saying that the next batch should be Julia/Angelique/Josette.....
-
I'll be happy if they just continue the series at this point! Stokes and Willie would also be fun - or how about an Adam series, with Dr. Lang and - gulp! - Jeff Clark included! >:D
Petofi, who would like HIS likeness reproduced as an action figure.
-
I've never paid the slightest attention to the Figures......I don't collect anything but books, truth be told. But if they were to come out with a Willie Loomis figure.....well.......I just might have to look into THAT!... ;)
-
They are really cool aren't they? I emailed Majestic a couple of weeks back and they said they have Angelique "in mind" for a future release.
-
They really should be announcing the next series at this Comic Con, or giving us good pictures of prototypes on display, anyway. I'm going to be checking action figure sites since they usually post pictures of upcoming items from the companies. Majestic's unvieling their new Battlestar Galactica 12 inch figures there (from the new series).
I'm thinking a second series would likely consist of Angelique & Julia or Angelique & Josette.....but I'm anxious for a Willie myself. :-*
-
Okay, I insist that Julia is the next figure in the series. And I want it to include two heads: one with her original 1967 'do and one with her chic, stylish post-1795 'do. The doll should be dressed in a replica of one of her most attractive dresses (wasn't there a blue one that was especially flattering?) and come with a lab coat that fits over the dress. Other accessories should include a handbag, medallion, hypodermic, and a bottle of sedatives.
-
Kind of a dork for this stuff. I think in all likelihood if they do another series, which I sadly doubt, we'll see another Barnabas figure, perhaps with a longer hair headsculpt and one of the 1800s costumes. He's "the name"; even the Quentin figure didn't sell nearly as well as the Barnabas figures.
These companies have trouble keeping figure lines floating well enough to do supporting characters. Sideshow took a beating on a Planet of the Apes line that had a lot of supporting characters as figures. Would love to see new figures, just skeptical that I will.

Word Claude! I agree wholeheartedly w/everything you've suggessted! May I add that they should also include her gloves, a cigarette (w/holder) and a candlabra to light it with, and instead of different heads, they could simply have one head and several hair changes (the brown football helmut-both actually 'cause it changed, the short 'do' and the longish hair she had at the end of the run). I also agree that the blue suit w/the frilly ascotty thing was her best 'present-day' outfit. 8)

Now, if they were to do figures from Gallactica 1980 and had a Xavier figure or from the original Gallactica and had guest character Lt. Wolfe (Richard Lynch's characters) I'd be all over that like a French whore on an American tourist, LOL! ;D

How could I have forgotten her cigarette holder and gloves???? I could be drummed out of the Legion for that! ::)

Pictures are coming in and it seems that Majestic only had the current figures on display, no prototypes of a second series shown...that probably doesn't bode well for the line.... Maybe they'll mention something about it while they're at the Con, but with no prototypes....it just doesn't look that good.
Anyone know if they're supposed to be at the fest?

Anyone know if they're supposed to be at the fest?
You know, I was wondering that myself. I'd like to see the dolls up close before making a decision on whether or not I want them for myself.
-
If you find close up pictures of them, they look exactly like the online pictures. There were no surprises with them. So if you like them in the pictures then you should like them in person.
I'm disappointed there were no series two figures displayed at Comic Con....if they're at the fest, someone can ask them if they're continuing the line. Maybe they would release information there.

A few weeks ago I purchased the DS figures by Majestic Studios. I absolutely love them!
Their clothes are fabulous, and they even came with socks! Now that's detail! I think the fabric the clothes are made from are quite good. I haven't seen many figures where the clothing is made of fabric, rather than molded plastic, so I am quite pleased.
I haven't tried to change the heads on them, I had enough difficulty attempting to put the hands on 1968 Barnabas.
My only complaint is how the figures came packaged. There was a plastic tie wrapped around their necks, then coiled down through their clothing. This made it very hard to unbox them, because I had to untuck their shirts and pull the wire out that way.
So what does everyone think of the DS figures? Do you like them? What do you like most? What do you dislike?
And lastly, if MS comes out with additional figures, who do you think they will be?
As for myself, I am hoping for Julia, Victoria and Angelique.
-
well i'd love a chris jennings but i'd have to fight a few here if it was a one of a kind ;D

Am looking forward to seeing these figures up close at the Fest, but someone I know who has one had one gripe about Barnabas, and that is he has BLUE eyes. True, or no? That wouldn't necessarily keep me from buying one, but that's a pretty big detail to screw up as Jonathan has very distinctive, HAZEL eyes and Barnabas' eyes were so focused on whenever he was 'putting the bajewel' on someone. ;)
-
I wouldn't call them blue, more gray-ish to me....I have both the 1795 and the 1960s version, and one's eyes are painted darker than the other (which I think looks better). But it doesn't take much away from the look of the figure or the headsculpt (which is probably as close to perfect as you can get in this scale of a figure).
-
I'm a fan of these figures. I'd been waiting for someone to do DS figures for years and these are great.
My only gripe is with Quentin's werewolf head. They left his nose looking totally human instead of giving him the black werewolf snout from the show. Thus he looks vaguely like the Bela Lugosi in the
'Ape Man' instead of looking like the werewolf from the show. With all the detail they put into these figures, it perplexes me that they did that.
-
Same, PennyDreadful.... I noticed that about the werewolf head, too. I've never placed the werewolf head on Quentin, so I'm not sure how it looks on the body. As a figure lover I was on cloud nine when Majestic released them. I might cry if they don't continue the line. :-X I so want a Willie and Josette (I'd buy others, of course, but those are the two I want the most). IMO, Angelique and Julia are likely for a series 2. If we ever see a series 2.
Sunny Collins, if you like these and are a fan of other movies/shows, you should check out Sideshow Collectibles. Majestic's DS figures are comparable to Sideshow's figures (they do Buffy, X-Files, Star Wars, classic horror like Dracula and Frankenstein, etc...). I love figures with cloth clothing. More detail and more life-like to me.
-
Well, as long as we're dreaming about potential figures, wouldn't it be cool if they had a Sarah figure? :)
If they don't have a series two, that will be sooo lame! :(
But until they tell us for sure that they're not going to make any others, I'm going to hold out hope. ;D

Thanks for the info on the figures, Barnabas'sBride!
I completely agree, that the cloth outfits make them seem more realistic!

heehee we can all be bought ;D

Raising this to ask fest attendees if Majestic Studios was there.....was anything said about a series 2? I want to know if I'm going to have to give up on my dream figure line..... :(

They were, but I don't know about another series. I'm pissed at myself for not getting my Barnabas figure Friday night as they were only $35 AND they'd sold out by Saturday. Ah wel...
-
Maybe due to the fact that they sold them so quickly at the fest, MS might consider doing a series two. One can hope.

At one point during the Festival, Kathryn Leigh Scott commented on how surprised she was by DS's ongoing popularity and by how her likeness has been used so often over the years: "I've been on T-shirts, on the music box packaging, I'm a bobblehead, and I hear I'm supposed to be an action figure." So maybe there will be a second series featuring Josette/Maggie.

would pay a tidy sum for a maggie figure dressed in her diner garb......... ::)
-
Just as long as there's a Julia Hoffman figure as well! (And Angelique as well)

Well, that gives me some hope, anyway. Josette's one of the ones I want most. The fact that the first series sold out is a good sign, too. :)

Right on Charles! I want Barnabas and Julia. Now, if we're REALLY dreaming (fantasizing really) I'd love to have Bramwell and Catherine figures too, LOL! ;)
