J: Sheesh John, did the thought of a breath mint after lunch enter your brain?!
-
JB: Ooo-wee! Thank you, Johnny. You have no idea what a time I have getting in and out of this dress!
-
Joan Bennett: "Ewwwwww, Johnny! I hate it when you turn your eyelids inside out like that!"
-
Flora: Oh yes Desmond! I would love to teach you Collinsport's national dance, but my polka days are long behind me now....
Desmond: Aw, lets do give it a whurl! a one and a two and you know what to do!! ha ha!
-
"Mother, what are you saying!?!"
"Oh, please, Desmond! I mean, it was 1810. I was only 25-years-old. And, I thought, he is the extremely handsome and debonair Martin Van Buren. Why not go for the 'gusto' with a future POTUS? [cheers]
-
FLORIA: Here's the story of Lt. Nathan Forbes, he was a liar and backstabber, and was married to Milicent, and he was a bad mutha!
DESMOND: Shut your mouth!
-

Desmond: "'Cause he'll never make you FLOTUS, that's why! But wait... does that mean I could be President, someday... nah, the Adams Family put an end to that. The American people would never be that stupid again! A son of a president... nah!!"
-

Brilliant!! [hall2_wink] [hall2_grin]
-
"Desmond, I even envision a day when a future first lady will actually run for POTUS! The fact that she also communicates psychially with the ghost of Martha Washington, will only further sway the electorate in her favor!"
-

Here's the third line you weren't allowed... FLORA: Just talkin' 'bout Forbes!
-
Here's the third line you weren't allowed...
Of course, you actually meant to say: "Here's the third line the rules of the Caption This! game didn't allow you to add..." Right? [hall2_wink]
-
You read my mind, except I would have added, the rules of some benevolent deity that it would be ridiculous and practically immoral to disobey, damn it!
[dancing_skeleton] [dancing_skeleton] [dancing_skeleton]
-
"Mother, hear me now and believe me later. I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lorna Bell!"
"Spare me! You're as much of an incorrigible alley cat as your late father. May the good Lord rest his philandering soul!" [santa_rolleyes]
-
Oh, Desmond, I went into that strange room at Collinwood... It changed on me, and then I saw a shiny box with moving pictures, and it sang this song: "Five... Five Dollar... Five dollar foot long!"
-
"Five... Five Dollar... Five dollar foot long!"
[laughing4] Flora does look like she's doing the gestures from that commercial.
-
Flora: "Gerard told me that I'm going to be reincarnated as someone named Kathryn Leigh Scott and I'm going to be publishing pomegranates."
-
[pointing-up] [lol2]
-
Flora: "If this is any indication of your technique with women, no wonder you're still single."
-
[pointing-up] Very good one!! [laughing6] [cheers]
-
Got to love Flora!
-
([pointing-up] Some may disagree, but I think she's one of Joan's best characterizations because she's so different from all the rest. [nodassent])
-
I would agree with you. Flora is a part that could have been played by Billie Burke or Gracie Allen and Joan is obviously enjoying herself.
-
([pointing-up] Definitely!!)
-
I wonder if Big Finish would ever do a young Flora audio drama.
-
([pointing-up] Now, there's an idea! And it would have to be a lot more satisfying than a Harry Johnson audio drama!!)
-
I was thinking along the same lines. I wonder if they would cast Flora from DS alumni or look for an actress elsewhere. Any casting suggestions?
-
([pointing-up] Hmmm - I'd have to think about casting suggestions...)
-
Since this would be for an audiodrama, I think that Ilene Kristen (Delia from Ryan's Hope, Roxy from OLTL) would make a good Flora. Ilene does middle aged wackos quite well and manages to make them endearing. I'm not sure about who might play a younger version of the character.
-
([pointing-up] I can see Ilene Kristen as Flora - but, yeah, it's the younger Flora that's harder to cast...)
-
Well, the age of the performer isn't as critical a factor for an audio drama. Possibly another OLTL alumni, Kristen Alderson?
-
([pointing-up] YES!!)
-
I adore them. I see Ilene in NYC every so often but I haven't seen Kristen since the ABC OLTL went off the air. Both are exceptionally gracious with fans.
