Hi everyone, just wanted to say that
i'm really excited about going to The
DS FEST this yr.
Love Anne
( ESPECIALLY MEETING THE Q-MAN )!!!!
YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-* ;D :P
-
Hi Anne, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting David Selby yet, so i too am looking forward to this year's festival..looks like two other DS stars will be there that i have not met. John Karlen & Nancy Barrett. does Jonathan Frid go to the festivals anymore? I didn't see his name on the list. -robert
-
No, Frid doesn't attend fest's anymore, but everyone and their mother-in-law keeps their fingers crossed in hopes that one day he will.
Seeing/meeting Selby is an unforgettable experience. The man is awesome in every way, especially as a "human being". I really can't explain what I mean, but you'll know exactly what I mean when you see/meet him. There should be more men like him in this world. It would be a better place than it is.

You're going to love it, Annie! I wish I could go. I doubt if I'll ever get to another festival again, but it's something you will remember the rest of your life!
Gerard

I don't know if the festival is in my cards this year. It is very tempting. I have never been to Tarrytown and there is alot to do and see in the area.
Could not agree with you more Dom--David Selby is quite a guy. A true gentleman. I really enjoyed the fest I was able to attend

Hi Annie,
I live so close to Tarrytown that I have to go!
That's great you'll be going this year!! I hope to get to meet you there too. You'll really enjoy it, and hopefully I'll be there when you get to meet the "Q" man!! ;)

Anne, I'm so glad that your going to the festival. I know that you love Q-man, but you will absolutely adore him, once you meet him. He is the nicest, fun loving man you will ever meet. Have a great time!!
-
...hmmm....was so happy for Anne that I didn't think...
Isn't there an 'end' to 'Fests' as they were?
Also, wouldn't this be a west-coast year?
Details, details.
Patti
-
Patti,
Where have you BEEN??? The "fest" - I think it's called something else now (?) is being held in Tarrytown - weekend of Aug. 13.
So, let's see....maybe about a 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive from these here parts. You going?
;D
-
i would love to go but such a bad time have to do the milage
from Boston maybe it could be done!
jennifer
-
Jennifer, it is about three hours from Boston, I think. I don't know if I can put it together to go.
Birdie
-
Jennifer & Birdie, its around 210 miles from where iam at, (Quincy,Ma), don't know if we will drive down or just fly into LaGuardia. does anyone know if Amtrack goes near tarrytown?
-
There is an airport in White Plains which would be closer to Tarrytown than LaGuardia. FYI.

does anyone know if Amtrack goes near tarrytown?
I was looking at the Amtrak Web site the other day and it seems like there aren't any trains that go directly to Tarrytown. However, there is one from Penn Station to Croton, which seems like it's about ten miles from Tarrytown. But I haven't gotten around to calling Amtrak to see if that train is the only one or if there's a better alternative.
-
Isn't the DS Festival site giving out info about transportation and lodging options? If not, they should be. Tarrytown's not Outer Mongolia, but it isn't Manhattan either and I'm sure many interested fans would appreciate some assistance in deciding if the trip is do-able for them.
-
I did not see any such info posted on the festival site Raineypark, but i am sure they will post something in the near future. ShadowGram i think puts out festival info as well. meanwhile, i will do some research on the area. also Amtrack. thanks for the airport site Dom.
-
Isn't the DS Festival site
Rainey...would you please put the DS 'fest' site web address link on here (cause I've never heard of it).
Mucho gracias doll,
Patti

Here it is, Patti

I believe they generally do provide directions. However, it doesn't take much effort to research the lodging or transportation options since most of us do that anyway when we are thinking of going somewhere unfamiliar to us. :-*
P.S. Rainey . . . I am getting ready to post some pictures you will like. :-X

minor query. how can going to the Dark Shadows Festival be OT-Off Topic??
-
There is a train that goes from Penn Station in NYC to the train station in Tarrytown.
I went on it with my two partners in crime (they know who there are) in 2001 to visit Lyndhurst. The train lets off about 3/4 mile from Lyndhurst, but cabs come by occasionally and there is a payphone to call one from.

BECAUSE!!!!! lol
Annie started the topic and she always puts OT in the title of any post in the Calendar Events section. :D
I for one, have come to depend on this. It makes me smile. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hi Annie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Anyway, better to be safe than sorry. Right Annie??)

Uh ... um ...
Never mind. :)
Actually, we appreciate it when posters indicate which posts are off-topic instead of leaving it for the moderators to edit in, and also when they're kept to a minimum. And announcing that you're going to a Fest is OT (2. The purpose of these forums is to discuss DARK SHADOWS, its characters, actors and storylines.), and Annie did kindly add it this time. Thanks, sweetie!
-
Uh ... um ...
Never mind. :)
She doesn't?? lol
I thought she did.
I'm losing it. (Actually, I lost it)
Midnite...
I too thought Going to DS Fest was on topic - IN Calendar Events.
But OT in Current Talk. Oh hell, I'm going to bed.
[wavey]
-
I'm losing it.
Nah. We're quick. [wink2]

That's great news, Darren. Thanks for the info! :)
I wonder why Tarrytown isn't included in the NY train station list on Amtrak's Web site? :-

[I wonder why Tarrytown isn't included in the NY train station list on Amtrak's Web site? :-
Because it's not ON Amtrak, Pepe.....it's on the Metro-North commuter line....out of Grand Central Station....probably doesn't even take half an hour to get to Tarrytown from there. [vryevl]

Ah - OK. Thanks for saving me from an embarrassing call to Amtrak. ;)

Here's the URL for anyone who needs/wants it:

Rumor has it that this particular line has helped Sheenasma to overcome late night cheesecake cravings on a few occasions. ;D
-
I'm probably taking that route myself, rather than drive up....Long Island Rail Road to Penn...subway to Grand Central....Metro North to Tarrytown.
If anyone else is considering it, it would be a hoot and a half to get a bunch of us on the same train....we could sing "I Wanna Dance With You....." and scare the bejeezus out of the "ladies who lunch"....[lghy]...Bwahahaha!!

BTW - new members and guests wondering why Rainey called me Pepe might want to check out these two posts:
I'm also thinking...
OH, now THERE's...
:-* to "ma petite tourterelle" from your (http://www.dsboards.com/dsb05/YaBBImages/avatars/Looney_Tunes_-_Pepe_Le_Pu.gif) [wink2]
-
What a coincidence.....I was just looking at those posts recently.... ;)
[lghy]
-
I was wondering if that was your real name or a nick-name, well.. everyone loves a "mystery" right?
-
And I particularly love a good mystery. ;) But now you probably understand that it's a joke between the two of us. :D
-
Grand Central that's right...not Penn station.
It took about an hour.
-
Well, I do hope the Fest does provide some info becuase I know from personal experience that trying to figure out how to get to Tarrytown and around town using totally public transportation (ie not driving) is rather difficult...
