Now that "Leviathans" is a not-so-distant memory and we're packing away our snake jewelry and getting over our fear of funhouses, I thought it might be fun to read how others would respond to these questions. Answer any or all, and feel free to expound if you wish.

--Any one where they WEREN'T dragging Michael offstage by his collar!
What moment made you cheer the loudest?
--The Death of Bruno
Event or revelation that made you ask, "What were the writers smoking?"
--The spectacularly stupid return of Peter Bradford
Favorite quote?
--"Roxanne...she's gonna think I'm weird or somthin' "

--The whole Altar set in the woods...looked like something from "King Kong"

--The Shadow...laughed like hell every time I saw it.
Least favorite special effect?
--The posterization of Jeb and Carolyn...it was stupid in the 70's and it looks even more stupid now.
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
--This WAS my first time. And my last. ::)

The most irritating character?
**Those damned pre-Jeb boys...Alexander and Michael. God how I hated them. [flmthrw]
I'd like to take those two "boys" and beat "the tar out of 'em". Then I'd take Michael to the barber shop, and have all of his hair shaved off and tell him that it would be that way, untill he learned how to comb it. (I know, his hair was really a wig, but I figure out that he'll be so tramatized, that he'll think its real.)
The scene that had you closes to tears?
**When Angelique found out that her husband (Sky Rumson) was a Leviathan, she leaves and goes to Barnabas. She fall into his arms, not because she's in love with him, but because of what she just found out, and I think she just needed a hug. And Barnabas is just what she needed. [witch]

Probably when Paul realized that he was expected to give Carolyn to the Leviathans

Why didn't they do The Mummy instead? Quentin in Egypt ¢â‚¬¦
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
Since I was just a kid I thought the child actors were scary & cool. I liked the idea of the mysterious horrible "thing" in the room

Jeb and Bruno: They were such a bumbling team in the long run that it was almost comical.

Scene(s) you can watch over and over and over and...?
The entire sequence where Angelique learns from Barnabas that Sky is a Leviathan, then discovers he's best buds with Nicholas Blair, strangles Sky with voodoo, reunites with Quentin, sends Sky away from the Old House and turns to Barnabas for support. I'm certainly no Angelique fan and I'm not too big on Parker's acting in general, but her performance here was stunning and this was as close as I came to ever feeling sorry for Angelique.
Most wasted opportunity?
The return of Paul Stoddard could have been better fleshed out and should have lasted longer (though I know Patrick had better things to do.)
Best plot twist?
Bruno trying to replace Jeb and planting him in the crypt with the werewolf. That took nerve.
Creepiest moment or event?
When Barnabas abducted Philip and punished him by putting him behind the bookcase in the Old House with a tape of his chastising voice. After Barnabas tells a frantic Megan to go back to the shop, the camera shows Philip's shellshocked face as we the audience finally see where he is. For me, this epitomized Leviathan Barnabas's coldness and gave me the chills. [eek]
Moment in which you most wondered, "What were the writers smoking?"
The moment we learned Jeb was involved in the death of Victoria Winters. [puke]
Event or revelation that made you ask, "What were the writers smoking?"
See above. This plot twist made me so furious. It was so unnecessary and it spoiled my image of the happy life I assumed Vicki had enjoyed since we left her in the past. [pissd]
Favorite quote?
"Don't worry, you've got Bruno!" (Bruno)
It just strikes me as a very funny, albeit ridiculous line.
"There are so many ways of losing people and so few of holding on." (Carolyn)
Unfortunately, a very true perception of life. :'(
Favorite prop?
The Naga jewelry, I suppose.
Favorite special effect?
Maybe Nicholas's spirit leaving his body. Nothing else stands out at this moment.
Least favorite special effect?
I'm really not liking the disco ball/police cruiser lights in the current dream sequences. :P
Ugliest outfit?
Bruno's fur coat was pretty scary, but not as bad as his hair.
Stupidest continuity error (the most horrendous job of retconning in this storyline)?
At one point, Jeb pleads with Angelique to save him from the shadow because he's not responsible for Sky. She refuses, saying she holds him responsible anyway because he was the focus of the Leviathan plot. She has no pity for Carolyn either, saying her feelings died when she learned the truth about her husband. Just a couple of episodes later, however, Barnabas gives her the same reason why she should remove the curse and Angelique turns soft, blathering about her great belief in love. Not only is this a complete turnaround, but Jeb did not tell her about Sky as Barnabas claims; Barnabas himself did that in a poignant and memorable scene that I mentioned above. I thought this was a grievous lack of continuity, or maybe Barnabas and Quentin are just more persuasive than Jeb? This irked me along with the fact that the writers kept changing the rules about how Jeb could die.
What scene had you closest to tears (because it was so touching)?
Josette's ghost bidding Barnabas a final good-bye.
What scene had you closest to tears (from laughing)?
Bruno telling Jeb not to worry and then running off to fight the werewolf. ::)
Moment or event that made your jaw drop the farthest?
Bruno whipping the werewolf. I thought that scene was unusually intense.
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
I was actually very interested in Leviathans my first time around. I was prepared for the worst after so many negative comments about it being the nadir of the show, but I didn't feel that it was lousy at all. It was very strange, but that held my attention because I kept wondering what would happen next. While I didn't particularly enjoy seeing how people changed under the Leviathan spell or Carolyn's ultimate fate, I wasn't bored during the storyline and I don't hate it.

Most welcome character (the one you were happiest to see)?
Quentin, (even though he didn't have much to do in this storyline) and also Willie. I felt they both were good characters on the show but disappoined that they were given such minimal parts to play. I felt they could have done so much more with their characters.
Your favorite character in Leviathans, period.
Paul Stodard. He was the only sane one out of the bunch and they made him look like a lunatic! I felt sorry for the poor guy.
Favorite duo (non-romantic)?
Julia & Chris trying to solve his werewolf curse.
Favorite romantic pairing?
Megan & Philip, the way they were when they first came to Collinwood.
Favorite minor character?
Mr Best!! Because he was so anxious to get rid of Amanda/Olivia.

Quentin coming back and not having much to do but stand around looking clueless.

Jeb deciding that he didn't want to be a "lung" after all and wanted to stay human.
Creepiest moment or event?
Jeb bringing those zombies back from the grave.[crossbones]
Which scene had you yelling at your TV screen the loudest?
Quentin telling Olivia/Amanda that he had been searching for her all these years!! (somehow I find that hard to believe) [puke]
What moment made you cheer the loudest?
Barnabas realizing that he didn't want to be a leviathan after all and finally telling Julia the whole story.
Moment in which you most wondered, "What were the writers smoking?"
Bringing back Peter Bradford's ghost to haunt Jeb![huhg]
Event or revelation that made you ask, "What were the writers smoking?"
That whole Charles Deleware Tate thing with the head rolling off onto the floor! That had to be the most silliest thing I've seen so far on the show.[spin] [rollb]
Favorite quote?
Angelique saying: "I've given up my powers and I am happily married to a wonderful man!" (if we could believe that one then we could believe anything!)
Favorite special effect?
That silly looking shadow!
Ugliest outfit?
Those "Mike Brady" plaid slacks worn by Philip Todd!
Stupidest continuity error (the most horrendous job of retconning in this storyline)?
When Anglelique puts that love spell on Maggie & Quentin and once again we see the pitch fork appear on their hands. It was dejavu all over again. IMO this just didn't fit into the storyline at all and even though Angelique had regained her powers back I was kind of hoping that she was way past that same old jealousy stuff by now.[nono]
What scene had you closest to tears (because it was so touching)?
Well. as much as I couldn't take Jeb I did feel bad for Carolyn who seemed to be so in love with him, then marries him only to have a miserable honeymoon and wind up a widow.
Also, when Carolyn loses her father Paul Stodard after finally getting to know him a bit. Thought this was so sad, she waited 20 years for him and then he's suddenly taken away from her.[cryg]
What scene had you closest to tears (from laughing)?
That silly smile on Paul Stoddard's corpse!
Moment or event that made your jaw drop the farthest?
Philip confessing to all the murders!
What nagging question were you left with? (Uh, try to narrow it down, please. )
What was Quentin's real purpose there? [confused5] They left him little to do except chase Barnabas & Julia around Collinwood to find out what the heck was going on. I think the most exiting parts he had was when he was physically fighting with Jeb!
Also, what was the sole purpose of Angelique putting that love spell on Quentin & Maggie? Where did this lead? They sort of left the whole thing up in the air.
And what happened to Ned Stuart? He was so against his sister being with Chris, yet he drops out of site as soon as she's normal again.
And lastly, why on earth did they have to find the need to bring back Peter Bradford's ghost to haunt Jeb? [5363] Were we suppose to believe that Jeb lived in the past also? They should have left the Peter/Vicky story as it was.
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
Never again!!

Hmmm...I rather liked the bit where Ice Queen Liz stands over the prone body of her estranged husband and tells him coldly that she never wanted him back.

Quentin. They totally misused him, but the thought was nice.

In theory it would have been learning that Jeb was a Leviathan. But in practice, no takers.
Creepiest moment or event?
That bit with Michael punishing David in the antique shop. It looked really cheesy when I was fastforwarding through it, but when I actually went back and watched it was pretty weird.
Which scene had you yelling at your TV screen the loudest?
The return of Roger Davis.
What moment made you cheer the loudest?
When Angelique dispatched Peter to his grave forever.
Moment in which you most wondered, "What were the writers smoking?"
I think the pertinent question would be "Moment in which you wondered if sobriety had returned to the writers." However, for the purposes of this quiz: Much of the flower of Jeb and Carolyn's romance crap--no, really, he's a hero!

The emphasis on those weird people down at the antique shop.

Stupidest continuity error (the most horrendous job of retconning in this storyline)?
Oh, God. There were so many. The whole damn plot was an exercise in how not to write a TV show. The Vicki Winters crap (which frankly I refuse to believe).
What scene had you closest to tears (because it was so touching)?

A few from unfortunate fashion choices, but that's about it really.

What were Dan Curtis and the writers smoking? Seriously. There were some excellent performances and a few really interesting concepts, but it fell apart. They ended it poorly when it would have been so easy to at least do something right (like keep the characters' memories intact).
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
I think I'd heard bad press, so I was probably prejudiced, but my expectations were met.

I liked Carolyn in the beginning and middle, pre-Jeb, when she first met her father and when he was going insane. I also enjoyed Angelique's appearances in this storyline.

Dr. Julia Hoffman and Barnabas Collins.
Favorite romantic pairing?
Megan and Philip Todd, before the entire Leviathan mess.
Favorite minor character?
Mrs. Purdy. Nell Gunston was also pretty good.

Most wasted opportunity?
Paul Stoddard. They could've done so much better with him. All they had him do was meet Carolyn, go insane, and die. Quentin Collins also didn't have that great of a storyline either, especially after Amanda died.
Best plot twist?
I can't think of one at the moment.
Creepiest moment or event?
Probably when Michael locked up David in the antique shop. Or when Barnabas punished Philip in the Old House.

The wedding of Carolyn and Jeb.
What moment made you cheer the loudest?
Jeb Hawkes falling off Widow's Hill. :)

The return of Peter Bradford. Thank God Angelique got rid of him after only two episodes.

The death of Victoria Winters. Jeb in his human form wasn't even alive back then, was he?

I like the special effects they use for dreams now. The old way they did dreams - where there was that spiral thing in the middle - got old after awhile.

The shadow.

Stupidest continuity error (the most horrendous job of retconning in this storyline)?
There were a lot of continuity errors about the Leviathans/Jeb and their/his powers. I also didn't like the one in which they revealed that Jeb killed Vicki when he wasn't even alive in the time period she was in. ::)
What scene had you closest to tears (because it was so touching)?
When Jeb died and became a widow. Even though the entire Jeb dying thing is good, I guess it wasn't too good for Carolyn. -_-
What scene had you closest to tears (from laughing)?
When Jeb and Megan dug up Paul Stoddard's body and it was smiling at them.
Moment or event that made your jaw drop the farthest?
Carolyn actually accepting Jeb's proposal. Carolyn certainly knows how to ruin her life once per storyline, doesn't she?
What nagging question were you left with? (Uh, try to narrow it down, please. :))
Did the writers/Dan Curtis hate us SO much that they did this storyline to drive us crazy?
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
This was my first time. The plot was good in the beginning, but after Jeb arrived things started to fall apart, imo.

Favorite duo (non-romantic)?
Julia and Chris. They made a perfect team when they were trying to get to the bottom of Barnabas' "problem" and the truth about "Olivia".
Favorite romantic pairing?
Hmmm... Jeb and Bruno. You can't tell me that two people fight like that without something else behind it! And they made such a perfect pair. A pair of what, though, I don't know. [lghy]
My own category: LEAST Favorite romantic pairing?
Hands down it goes to Mr and Mrs. Sky Rumson!! Talk about a credibility gap! ::)
Favorite minor character?
Nelle Gunston. I really like Elizabeth Eis.
Most irritating character?

Scene(s) you can watch over and over and over and...?
Well, Roger calling Jeb "A Cheap, Insufferable Pig" comes to mind. ;) But seriously, there are quite a few great moments (particularly in the first half of the story). Some that come to mind:
- Barnabas accuses Julia of being a bad detective, and Julia throws that remark back in his face after she witnesses how overly concerned he is with Carolyn.
- "Grant" remembers he's Quentin.
- Paul and Liz's confrontation at the Inn.
- Carolyn at Paul's funeral.
- Julia and Quentin realize Jeb has turned Barnabas into a vampire.
- Angelique and Nicholas come face to face again.
- Willie realizes Barnabas is again a vampire.
Most wasted opportunity?
Probabaly the two biggest are the appearances of Paul and Quentin. But Paul was never intended to be a continuing character, so I can forgive his waste more than I forgive that of Quentin, who was nearly as popular as Barnabas when it came to fan appeal.
Best plot twist?
Was there one? Perhaps I blinked and missed it...
Creepiest moment or event?
I think I'd also go with Barnabas programming Philip to kill Megan.
Which scene had you yelling at your TV screen the loudest?
Whoa! Way too many to count, much less list!
What moment made you cheer the loudest?
Toss up between the deaths of Jeb and Bruno and the banishment of Peter
Moment in which you most wondered, "What were the writers smoking?"
Moment?! Try the entire second half of the story!
Event or revelation that made you ask, "What were the writers smoking?"
Well, Philip's whole incarceration for the murders Jeb had committed would definitely rank up there!
Favorite quote?

Favorite prop?
Carolyn's feather duster. The sight of her dusting around the antique shop never fails to make me laugh out loud. :)
My own category: LEAST Favorite prop(s)?
Those stuffed and mounted animal heads at the antique shop. What the hell were they even doing in an antiques shop?!!
Favorite special effect?
Not a special effect, but having Carolyn's childhood self torture Paul was certainly a special affect against him.
Least favorite special effect?
The whole fun house dream that turned Liz into a Leviathan.
Favorite outfit?
The gray suit Quentin wore during the end of the storyline. I had one just like it. ;)
Ugliest outfit?
Not really an outfit, and more laughable than ugly, but "Grant's" head bandage after the accident. It looked like he should have been marching and playing a drum during the Revolutionary War - not like something from the 20th century! [lghy]
Stupidest continuity error (the most horrendous job of retconning in this storyline)?
Anything having to do with the Leviathans' purpose and their rules. They seemed to change from scene to scene, never mind from episode to episode!!
What scene had you closest to tears (because it was so touching)?
All of Carolyn's immediately following Paul's death.
What scene had you closest to tears (from laughing)?
Any involving zombie Sheriff "Shemp" Davenport. :D
Moment or event that made your jaw drop the farthest?
Well, from incredulity, it would have to be the fact that anyone believed for even one second that Philip had committed the murders. Take your pick of any one of those individual scenes!
What nagging question were you left with? (Uh, try to narrow it down, please. :))
What the hell ever made DC think this plot would be a worthy followup to 1897?!!
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
I absolutely hated this storyline with a passion when I first saw it as a kid. (Though as an adult I've come to appreciate a lot of it for aspects that completely went over my head back then. But it's still and probably always will remain my least favorite.)

Which one to choose? Chris had been confined to the mausoleum room pre-1897 because he was changing into a werewolf even when there was no full moon, and not changing back. Post 1897, he was only changing during the full moon. No explanation of the back track.
What scene had you closest to tears (because it was so touching)?
Not exactly close to tears, but when Angelique returned to the Old House and was comforted by Barnabas (after finding out he was right about Sky) it was pretty special.
What scene had you closest to tears (from laughing)?
The big fake spider coming after Amanda.
Moment or event that made your jaw drop the farthest?
Mrs. Rumson? Meet Mr. Nicholas Blair. (A classic moment!)
Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it?
The first time I watched it was during the last run-thru on Sci Fi. They had cut the show down to one half-hour episode a day and it was painfully slow.
This was the second time I watched it and it didn't seem as bad in one-hour installments. Actually, up until Paul's death, it played out rather well. I think there was lots of potential there but unfortunately it all fell apart about halfway through. :P 8)

There were many moments in which I wondered that but the most that comes to mind is when Peter Bradford's ghost returned to haunt Jeb. Why on earth did they have to squeeze this into the storyline? Come on already, we've had enough of Peter Bradford!!!

Peter Bradford implying that Jeb was responsible for Vicky's death!! This really disappointed me because I liked how the Vicky/Peter storyline ended with the two of them finally happy and I would have liked to keep it at that! I feel the writers spoiled a major part of a story for alot of viewers here, they should have left well enough alone.

Doesn't really make sense, and they never really elaborated on it again after using it as a plot device to have Amy find out that Maggie is a spy and to later use her to help find Quentin ... well, never mind. I guess they did use it after all. Huh.
Favorite minor character? Mr. Best!
Most irritating character? Awexandah. Or maybe Michael. Or maybe Jeb!
Scene(s) you can watch over and over and over and...? The entire episode where Angelique runs from Sky's torch (!), flies back to Collinwood, spars with Quentin, taunts Sky, begs for Barnabas' reconciliation, finds him with Maggie, and calls on the Powers of Darkness to put the love whammy on Maggie and Quentin. Plus it was cool to see that pitchfork again that hadn't made its appearance since 1795.
Most wasted opportunity? Making Barnabas a true agent of the Leviathans, or at least making his break away from them more believable. Maybe if he'd been seduced by them or something ... but nope, it's always gotta be about possession with these people.
Best plot twist? Sky as Leviathan bad guy.
Creepiest moment or event? The dead sheriff (who's first name, apparently, was "Sheriff") getting noshed on by the werewolf. I mean, ew. Really.

Finally, what was your reaction to the storyline the very first time you watched it? I watched it while painting the interior of my parents' house in the summer of '94 (I was fifteen). I adored it. I loved the costumes, the colors, and the fact that there were so many monsters ... we had the werewolf, we had the moon poppy, we had Angelique (looking fantastic everytime we saw her, 'cept for this unfortunate weird braid wrapping thing ... Steve knows what I'm talking about), we had Barnabas the re-re-revampire, we had Audrey, we had goofy weird breathing rhino radiator things, we had ghosts and warlocks and Nelle Gunston with her l'il knife ... I mean, c'mon guys, we had it ALL! Plus Liz Stoddard tried to kill people. You can't ask for more than that.

Since I was a little girl the first time I watched DS, it was kind of confusing, but now as an adult I appreciate the
story a whole lot more.
