Title: Voom...Voom
Post by: TERRY308 on April 22, 2003, 11:39:11 PM
Just the thought of Barnabas in a Benley(?), swirving from side to side, makes me go in my car, not his.  Then, he hits Quentin.  I think he had better take a refreshered course...again.

It should be mandatory for 175 year olds to take both the written and driving test annually, IMHO. [lol2]

PS - Who do you suppose taught Barn to drive? Viki? Carolyn? Roger? Julia? Willie?

PPS - Anyone think that Liz knows how to drive?

PPPS - Are there anymore servants at Collinwood? Or was Mathew the last?

Not Rog, cause Barn was supposed to be the 'cool 'cuz' from England (presume he'd know how to drive).

I very much fear that it was Willie, if anyone who probably taught Barnabas how to drive.

If you'll recall, when Willie leaves off petty theft, harrassment, and goes off to work for that stalwart, decent, upright citizen, Mr. Barnabas Collins, his cover story is that Mr. Collins had some automotive trouble and that Willie was able to fix his car.

So with that kind of excuse, that would probably let off one of the Collinsport citizens from teaching him how to drive.

My guess is that Willie probably tried to teach him. Barnabas got impatient ("If you can drive, than surely anyone can"), and decided he knew how to drive.

I also strongly suspect that he has to be a really annoying passenger. One of those people who keep trying to tell you how to drive (remember this is a man who decided he knew best about Julia's formulas and medical treatment).

Which would explain why Barnabas seems to get into a fender bender anytime he steps into a car.

Luciaphil,
Vicki was driving when Barnabas was in his first car accident.  You remember,  she was trying to run over Jeff Clark and hit a poor tree instead.
In his second accident,  he tells Elizabeth that he was cleared of any fault.  Odd,  I have been living in Maine for fourteen years and never believed it was legal to drive on the sidewalk.

LOL!!  You know Annie, you're probably right about that!

How could he not see Quentin on the sidewalk??  This is probably one of the reasons why we never see Barnabas driving!  ;D

I didn't even know he owned a car?  He just always seems to be walking all over the place.

I always assumed it was deliberate.  He has his plans for Carolyn - told her that some day she'd find someone (had his own ideas of what that would be).  So, when she told him about Grant, he was completely shocked.  He had just managed to convince her to avoid Chris to "free" her for "his plans" and now this happens.

He asked her when the man was coming to meet her and then the "accident" occurs.  I'm certain he intended to eliminate him and had no idea it was (or could be) Quentin.

I couldn't possibly see dear Barnabas waiting in line at the Collinsport DMV to take his driver's test, get his vision tested, get his mug shot and pay the fee.
I think he had Willie get him a fake license and after a few quick lessons, he was an expert!  Or, maybe he's just driving with that outdated British livery license from 1795.

Livery license indeed!
Rainey....who spent most of yesterday being driven around in Mid-town Manhattan and is laughing out loud at the image of Barnabas Collins driving a cab.

Barnabas doesn't have a license.  He couldn't get one because, first of all, the DMV is closed at night.  Second of all, he doesn't come out on film, and third, he has a tendency to drive on sidewalks.

LOL!!  I thought the same thing LAFB.  The DMV closes here at 4pm (wouldn't that be convienent if they were open all night!) so he probably just had Willie get him a fake one like Carol said, either that or he doesn't even have one at all!  But in reality you would think he would need one, especially after he just practically killed someone who just happen to be standing on the sidewalk.
