With all you know about vampires, would you allow yourself to be bitten?
I would.
-
I would give it great consideration! [ghost_wink]
-
Nope [2Bats]
-
Uh... no. It always annoyed me as a kid that people saw it as something sexual, when it just looked that way a little bit.... maybe like "necking". Actually, you get tired, weak, and needy. Now I can see, though, that the feelings overlap with romantic ones to some extent.... if one's romantic feelings veer toward submissiveness. Then again, you get to go on evil missions for the vampire against innocents, which can be fun... vampire victims don't have to be passive all the time. Anyway, I guess I can see the attraction in being totally swept up in something... but the victim never really gets satisfied, does she/he?
Is it the self-destructive aspect that might be attractive?
When I imagine Megan Todd the vampire, I find I'm considering it. Sign me up, but first I'm going to get a job at the blood bank.

It's often part of the vampire mythology that the experience of being bitten is akin to experiencing an intense orgasm - hence the eye fluttering and expressions of extreme ecstasy on the victims' faces. And, well, some people will take an orgasm any way and anyhow they can get one. [ghost_wink]

Is that all from after the time of DS or later, modern "mythology", or is that in novels of films from decades before the 60s? I know DS wasn't alone in this, but I always thought that before my lifetime the sexual element wasn't there.

I'm going with what Mysterious Benefactor's reasoning is on this one [ghost_wink]

Stoker's novel featured some pretty steamy stuff, the scene when Harker is aroused from his nap by Drac's vampire brides comes to mind.
In answer to the original question: Hell No.
-
Good question.
My answer is no.

There are those that say that the vampire's kiss is very symbolic of the sex act from the penetration to the sharing of life giving fluid. I can understand it but I don't know if I believe that it was intended to be that way in the beginning.
-
I've had nightmares about vampires going all the way back to when I first saw Lugosi's Dracula. So no way would I.
-
Well, if I were to be bitten to become a slave, my answer is no.
And I have to think if I want to go around biting people and maybe killing them.
But I can get behind that whole slave, submissive thing.
My Honey won't buy me that new Coach handbag? CHOMP!
Neighbors park in front of my driveway? CHOMP!
Yea, that might be cool.
-
N. O. I don't care if she's the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen in my entire life. I ain't doin' it.
On the subject of vampire bites = sex, I always found it interesting how the writers would claim things like, "Oh, it was sex, you know, the male vampires bit females and the females bit males," but that wasn't exactly true, unless Barnabas had a real thing going for Willie and Nathan Forbes, both of which he could have simply drained instead of turning them into thralls.

"Sleep All Day, Party All Night, Never Grow Old...It's Fun Being A Vampire"
That the tag line from "The Lost Boys" and I think there would be alot of truth in it.
-
It would depend on who's doing the "biting"!!! [ghost_cheesy] Johnny Depp?Mmmmmmmmm [blackbat] [laughing_devil]
-
As long as they "turn" me I don't really care. If I had a choice I wouldn't mind if it was KLS. [ghost_smiley] I'd bare my neck for her anyday. [ghost_smiley]
-
No thank you, I'd prefer NOT to become somebody's slave if at all possible [ghost_cheesy]

I'm not sure the partying automatically follows. DS certainly shows it's not much of a life. I only saw Barnabas throw one party.
-
Barnabas was also very in love. If he was more open minded he would have been able to have more fun with it. One thing is he should never had asked Josette to join him.
-
Especially after she was dead.

From what i know of vampires, I don't think the choice would be mine. [ghost_wink]
