Mature WOMAN Question
« on: September 14, 2002, 11:52:29 PM »
I've asked questions of 'mature' posters (ie, people who were old enough watching orig. run); now I'd like to ask the WOMEN who were around 11-15 during orig. run...

Did everyone see the recent post about who was the scarier ghost??? Quentin vs. Gerard?

I never had seen the whole show through, so I hadn't noticed how they tried

to make Gerard a total Quentin poser wanna be ::) (the sneer, the silence).

So, for the babes on here who were old enough during orig. run,.....

Seeing Quentin  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
now...he's silent, menacing, etc...scary...
Did any girls fall in love with him first time around?

(I don't think I'm saying it quite right, but since Q man  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* was scary in beginning, did you fall in love?)

or

Did you wait until say like the

It's nice to be so young. I wasn't 11 until 1975.

Well, I wish I could help but I was rather a fickle viewer originally. I missed a few episodes, came back to a time change and never could figure out what the heck was going on and stopped watching for a while. Now I hear the explanation at the beginning of the show when they change the time period and wonder why that didn't clue me in. It could be that I got home five minutes into the show though.

Anyway, I started watching again when Quentin was a living, breathing (if immortal) character. For me now, as a creepy scary and evil ghost he isn't as sexy. His voice is a BIG part of his appeal too.

I hope you get some answers though, this could be interesting.

Fall in love the first time I saw Quentin step out of the shadows?  Absolutely, I was 12 and he drop kicked me into puberty.  I remember sitting up straight and thinking *who* is *that*.  A few other minor teeny-bopper crushes developed, but my devotion was primarily pure.  Every full page 16, Tiger Beat, Spec, etc., every one went on the wall.  It was surrondaSelby in there.

Dear Jennifer,

In regards to your listing of Billy Conigliaro as one of your teenaged favorites, please, don't forget third base man Rico Petrocelli, reliever Sam Mayday" Malone and, arguably, the greatest "Sox" left fielder of all time, the man simply known as "Yaz."

You know, it's a shame that we never got to see anyone in Collinsport (Joe Haskell, Bob Rooney, Madame Findley, etc.) sporting a Red Sox baseball cap on as they sauntered through town.

Bob the Bartender, who will always be grateful that one of the truly free spirits of baseball played for both the Red Sox and the Mets (albeit for one season), the one and only Jimmy Piersall!  (Jimmy once said of former big league pitcher and manager Dallas Green: "He looks like John Wayne, but he throws like Donna Reed!")

Did any of the girls fall in love with Quentin the first time out?  You better believe it.

I had a little crush on him, but my heart belongs to Barnabas, poor, poor Barnabas.

And then the 16, Tiger Beat and all the rest of the pre-teen magazine, had a Barnabas AND a Quentin picture.  I thought Quentin was the coolest name I'd ever heard.I had my Mother buy me the 45 with "Quentin's Theme" on it, which I still have.

Now I live about 15 minutes away from Morgantown, where he was born and raised.  He's been at my daughter college a lot of times, and I never miss a talk from him.  I've seen him at the mall with his Father, and once I seen him getting some gas.  He's just a good ole country boy.

Did the girls fall in love with Quentin? They're still in love with him.

I can't answer from the first run.  I was too young.  I saw a few eps but none with Quentin.

However, when I first saw this storyline a couple of years ago.  I couldn't stand him.  He was soooo evil and creepy.  I would tell a friend who had watched as a child what was going on and she seemed to love Quentin, I couldn't figure it out.

But the minute we saw him in 1897 and the minute he spoke I changed my tune and he became my favorite!

I watched the original run and I was frightened of Quentin but drawn to him too.  It took a while for me to sort my feelings out and I did have a crush on the character.   :-*

I didn't like Gerard at all.  I wondered why he had to be there when Quentin was so much more interesting.   >:(     :D ;D

You bet I did.  My bedroom was plastered with posters of David Selby.  Hey, I had room for some others too.  Never went for Davey Jones, like Mickey Dolenz, now I wonder why.

My other tastes were different I loved the old movies and adored Clark Gable.  Also have to admit loved Robert Preston after seeing the Music Man.  Still find those man appealing.  I also like Jack Kelly from  Maverick. How can I forget David Mccallum.

Harrison Ford also makes my heart beat faster.  David Selby has been a stand by.

Hey, I still think those guys are/were something special.

The 70's were cool, wish I had been older! Those were the good ol' days, and the early 80's, just wish I had been a good girl. I was every parents nightmare.
