Current Talk '10 I / Looking for a good Quentin Quote
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:30:26 AM »
I am looking for a good quote by Quentin [gramophone]  Something about the family would be great.  Doesn't really matter WHICH Quentin...If you've got a "family" quote by ANY Quentin, that's just great.

I've got the "looking at the moon,"  the "big, bad wolf,"  "if we could only find a way of telling the truth..." but none of them are quite what I had in mind.  The last really great family quote I found was Gabriel  "It's the luck of the Collins Family.  We seem to attract every oddity on earth."  I know at least ONE of the Quentins MUST have commented on his family at one time or another.  Can anybody help?

Thanks!  [9366]

I'm chiming in as a latecomer to this discussion because I don't get here as often as I should.  But I had the pleasure of being among those who, after the fest, journeyed to Newport, R.I. and visited Seaview/the Carey Mansion otherwise known as our "Collinwood."

I've read tons of responses here and I still do not understand why people would pick "no."  That's one reason (of MANY) that I didn't like the original HODS.  Come on, people, you used the WRONG HOUSE!  Collinwood is Seaview/the Carey Mansion is Collinwood.

And what would be cool, especially for those who want the house to be "different," it WOULD be different.  You wouldn't have the same exact foyer and the same exact drawing room if they used the inside as well as the outside.  Or actually SHOW the front side of the house with the covered drive.  LOTS of folks don't know that side of the house, cause they're used to looking at the back of the house.

No question for me.  YES.  Definitely.  USE COLLINWOOD for COLLINWOOD.

I have to agree with EmeraldRose and lots of others on this thread.  I totally agree that Victoria is Elizabeth's daughter.  I can see some of us think alike along those lines.  In my own DS fan fiction, I've delved into that subject (with more to come).  I've used the Hanscomb name, a soldier, and WWII (specifically the END as in VE Day).  I've also written several letters that are revealed in the course of events which shed light on certain questions.

I must admit, Elizabeth's coldness to Victoria on several occasions messes up my perfect scenario, but I chalk it up to years of seclusion, guilt, and various other Collins family traits.  If Elizabeth was willing to have Victoria so close, yet wasn't quite ready to reveal all, she may have felt backed up against a wall with all of Victoria's questions, and dug in her heels in true Collins fashion.

Liz returned to Collinwood to find that Mrs. Johnson was hopping mad over the fact that the Collins Family had just bought a huge amount of stock in Kraft's "Miracle Whip" Salad Dressing.

I was in a store today that sales stickers that you print on your computer. If it's ok with you I may put one on my car.

Sure!  After all, those of us with extremely good taste just have to stick together!!!  LOL!
And I like your bumpersticker, too!

Ang Wins-- End of 1840 not so problematic for you I'm guessing?!

Correctamundo, Mr. Trask!!!

Wasn't the Barnelique tryst before Josebarb?

Looking at the quotes Midnite provided, kinda sounds like the same time.

B:  You see, it was a mistake. Oh, I know it was wrong to say it this way, but, well, it's my fault.  I know it was my weakness to...
A:  (wounded) ... love me.
B:  I love Josette.
A:  (angry) But you came to me.
and
B:  Because, Angelique, I didn't know that we were going to be married then.  To be honest, I thought I was in love with Josette but I didn't realize she was in love with me.  But now that we've written, (pause) well, you and I... It's impossible.
A:  Are you sad about it?
B:  What good will it be to admit that?  We both have different roles to play now.

Somehow, all I can hear is Han Solo going, "It's NOT my FAULT!"

MB is a true artist!

Here, here!!!!  I TOTALLY agree!!!  I LOVE this theme!!!!!  But for some reason, my little smiley that I "adopted" here (otherwise known as 9366) on the board [9366] looks like it's in the middle of an X and now the halo looks more like a bow or a propeller, but hey, as Gilda Radner would say (as Nadia Comaneci) it's "...STILL DARLING!!!!"

That's a cool logo. I may just use it. The fest is over but that's ok, I like it.
Hey we should have a fest coming up next year!! We could use it then!

Thanks!!!  I thought it came out pretty well.  A friend of mine (who lets me use his button press before the fest each year) said, "It's not up to the resolution we'd like, but it works."  I said, "I work with what I got!!!"  LOL!!  He did fix the sails for me so they aren't so pixel-ish.  And I wear mine all year (my t-shirt, not the sails, and I mean, I wash it and stuff, but it's fun to wear.)  Sometimes people come up and ask if I'm a member of the local historical society and I show them that it says "Collinsport."  Sometimes they go, 'Hey!  That was the name of that town that was on Dark Shadows YEARS ago!!!!  Not THAT Collinsport!!!"

I have a decal on my car, too.  (Yeah.  Ok, book me a room at Windcliff...)  I also have t-shirts from my button designs--"Collins Family Reunion" with a slightly altered (for brevity [smiley]) quote by Gabriel.  Not sure if that's uploaded or not.  I'll have to check.
"It's just the luck of the Collins Family.
We attract every oddity on earth."

Personally, I love that scene because I believe that Barnabas and Angelique are true soul mates.  I also believe that Barnabas never really loved Josette.  If he truly felt that Josette was the great love of his life, then why was he sneaking around with Angelique?  I feel that he viewed Josette as the ideal woman for someone in his social position, and over the years, built her up into a mythical creature.  I believe that Angelique was the one he really wanted, and that Josette was the one he felt that he should want...

...I still think Angelique is the best soulmate for Barnabas.

Go Claude North and Miranda!!!!! [cheer]

Concerning Quentin...
Clearly he's solid and not a ghost, so they can't say otherwise.

I don't know about that.  [spoiler]Joanna seemed pretty darned solid to me...til she wasn't anymore.  LOL![/spoiler]
