Please post any rumors about the 2012. I know I am not the only one wanting to make plans, schedule time off etc.
-
Maybe the Festival committee is waiting for Tim Burton to release his trailer so they can decide whether or not to invite Johnny Depp to the event?
And maybe it's time for fans who feel sufficiently motivated to do so to start organizing their own event. I know there is already one in Connecticut somewhere or other...

Maybe we should "occupy" the Dark Shadows festival. Take over and do it our way! Seriously though, I just want to mark time off at work before it's too late to do so.
-
What activities might a Fan-Flung Fest feature?
-
Flailing fobs and furry femmes.

A Mayonnaise, Boiled Dinner, and Indian Pudding taste-testing competition, juried by a panel of Mrs Johnson impersonators. Mrs Johnson would reserve the right not to taste any mayonnaise that doesn't "smell fresh."

Hope everyone hears something soon!

Panel discussions focusing on such topics as "Ryan vs. George: The Great Devlin Debate" and "Amanda Harris: Why?!!"
A contest to see who can find the most typos in a Pomegranate Press title to be chosen at random.
DS Drinking Game: watch a marathon of KLS interviews and do a shot every time she mentions the time that JF walked on camera during the closing credits.

Also, a variation of #2: A contest to see who can find the most factual errors in a Pomegranate Press title to be chosen at random.

Those are wonderful ideas, Claude. Some more:
Scarf, Gloves and Handbag 101: the Julia Hoffman school of feminine comportment. Bring a pair of your favorite gloves for the hands-on stretch and stroke part of the workshop.
Wigs, Wiglets and Witchery: from Cassandra to Mrs. Sky Rumson: one Witch's Coiffure
Not My Bag: the art of concealing a pistol in your favorite shopping confection, with notes from Elizabeth Collins Stoddard

The challenge with errors in a PomPress pub might be--where do you STOP.
I mean, the exercise could conceivably gobble up an entire weekend on its own account...
G.
-
True - so perhaps that could be a theme: Find All The Errors In The PomPress Books Weekend.
Although, now that I think about it, maybe one weekend wouldn't be enough time to find them all. [snow_wink]
-
this is too funny...
gothick i like your suggestion for a "not my bag" workshop...perhaps nancy barrett could contribute with a special discussion on carrying a purse around in your own house and how to handle one's emotions when dealing with that special stepfather-to-be. [snow_rolleyes]
and no seminar on comportment courtesy of dr.julia hoffman would be complete without detailed instructions on how to answer the telephone with both hands. [snow_tongue]

Yes! I would love to be a Mrs. Johnson impersonator. I would substitute Miracle Whip for mayonnaise. I am evil that way.
-
and if the fest is in august during a particularly sweltering day perhaps a fireside fashion show featuring the heaviest of felted wool coats and scratchy mohair suits...
accessorised naturally with a low, squat, square toed shoe. [snow_wink]

My God, Janet, that's ... MONSTROUS.
*feline smile* It is meant to be!
Are you sure you aren't related to a certain Nicholas Blair?
G.
-
Speculate on the title and concept for Lara Parker's fourth book.

Heh, heh, heh...

Angelique's Novel Approach, in which our favorite witch plans to destroy the Collins family by forcing them to read her manuscripts.
-
Claude, I am ROFLMAO at your remark! just brilliant!

You all need sedatives!!!!!! [snowball]

Jonathan Frid adds new pieces to his one man show: Britney Spears' "If u seek Amy" and Bloodhound Gang's "Bad Touch". [snow_shocked] [snow_wink]
-
OK I think we are off topic. I will take it that no one has heard anything about the fest yet?
-
Not one peep of a word but hoping they announce something any day now.
-
and Bloodhound Gang's "Bad Touch". [snow_shocked] [snow_wink]
That would be squirm-inducing to the extreme. And I just horrified myself by realizing I know all the words to that song.
But not really, because it's pretty damn funny.

Some of my Facebook friends are reporting the Fest will be the weekend of July 28, but that there's no hotel location yet. Can anyone confirm this by posting the Shadowgram or a link thereto? Thanks!

"The Dark Shadows Festival fan event with original series cast as guests will be held the weekend of July 28 in the New York City area.
-
A date! Now is this two days or three days? I wonder why this is taking so long to decide.
-
After all this, it should be three days.
-
Why not have the Festival "Weekend Event" in the LA area and the Movie Primere in New York? I think that would have been better for everyone. The West Cost Fans Don't have to fly to New York two yerars in a row and the East Coast fans finally get a movie event sine they allways seem to be on the west coast.
-
Or just have a "movie" marathon week-end instead of the one day at 12AM or THE ARE THEY KIDDING I'm too old to stay up that late and walk around Hollywood to find my car at 2AM fan event.
One day the restored HODS/NODS can be played surrounded by various film panels given by the stars and naturally Darren Gross. The next day would be followed by the new movie with again more panels with the new actors, director, etc. A pig out banquet with a DJ and dancing on Sunday and the usual fan fun events Collinsport players, freak fest, etc., trivia contest on Friday night. Oh yes, and the obligatory 3 hour wait in line for a signature line. How can we have a fest without it?
Hell I should be planning this huh? It would have been planned by now for sure.
-
Wish they would announce something soon -- at the very least, the hotel where the event is taking place. By a most fortunate coincidence, an opportunity has come up for me in NYC during the same week that the Fest is scheduled, and I'm anxious to make my reservations, etc.
-
I saw a flyer on Facebook for the LA event and was surprised Shadowgram hasn't done an update. They flyer has a nice photo and lots of details about the event. Hopefully, more details come soon about the event in the NYC area.
-

Perhaps Marcy is waiting for the NYC-area event to be finalized and then she'll send out an update for both events. Let's hope so!
And, yes, the promo for the Los Angeles event looks great, especially that photo!

It looks like a fun time.
