If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding today's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Today's quote:
Ep #537 (1968) - Julia - 'You go and get ready. We MUST leave here before dawn. We MUST. Yes. I MUST.'

From "Robservations 6/25/02 - #536/537 - Separate Sets of Mourners"
Willie is afraid, he wants to leave before the questions start. He has no reason to stay there anymore. Julia agrees Willie should leave tonight, and he's surprised she isn't convincing him to stay. She, too, will go, with no reason to stay. She tells Willie he can come with her, to Windcliff. Willie doesn't want to go, but she says she'll give him a job there, he won't be a patient. He's touched, pleased. He can be a gardener or attendant, she says, because Barnabas would want her to do this for Willie. Not because of the police? asks Willie.  She assures him that's not it. He hopes to work himself into a real good job, gain respect, and Julia says he can if he wants. She sends him to the Old House to pack and tells him to close up the house. What about Barnabas' clothes? says Willie. Pack a suitcase, says Julia-it was bright of you to think of that. They agree to pack and meet in an hour; they will leave before dawn. Willie walks away, but Julia lingers, staring down at Barnabas' grave.

The Robservations doesn't reference the quote directly and ignores much of it, but it does reference the circumstances under which it's delivered...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Prof. Stokes - 'Julia, you MUST COME. It's Adam. You remember that name, don't you? Adam') was back on January 16th of 2021.

[spoiler]Today's quote:
Ep #652_653 (1968) - Liz - 'They MUST have a governess-- someone who can be their constant companion.'

From "Robservations 9/18/02 - #651-652/3 - Liz & Death; Joe vs. Werewolf"
Liz's fear of premature burial persists as she talks to Barnabas. He tells her it's in her mind, which only supports her argument that there's something wrong with her. Suddenly her thoughts turn to David and Amy.
She insists that they'll need a governess to replace Vicki immediately, in fact, tonight. She suggests that Maggie would be a good choice. (a waitress as a teacher? Only on the Collinwood universe!) Barnabas agrees to call her.

Again, no direct reference to the quote in the Robservations, but it does reference the circumstances under which the quote is delivered...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Liz - 'They MUST have someone to take care of them immediately') was back on April 18th, and the second (Joe - 'Amy, you MUST be imagining that') was back on January 6th.

[spoiler]Today's quote:
Ep #782 (1897) - Barnabas - 'I MUST see you, Charity. Do you hear? I MUST come to you. But the way is blocked.'

From "Robservations 1/27/03 - #782-783 - Trapped!"
Dusk - We see the cross in Charity's window.  She's dozing by the fire. Barnabas calls to her--do as I tell you to do, he says.  Charity stirs in the chair.  I must see you, says Barnabas, I must come to you, but the way is barred--open your eyes, he commands.  She does.  Rise! He says.   She does.  Go to the window and remove the cross, and then I will appear to you, he promises.  Looking very pleased at this prospect, she takes down the cross and puts it away in her dresser drawer.  Barnabas appears.

The Robservations drops a part of the quote and paraphrases another part, but it gets the main points of the quote across...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Charity - 'But you MUST NOT stay here long. You MUST make other plans') was back on October 27th, and the second (Gregory - 'Yes, the Collins name MUST be protected') was back on January 26th.

[spoiler]Today's quote:
Ep #923 (1969) - Sabrina - 'You MUST come with me, please. Don't ask. Just come.'

From "Robservations 5/2/03 - #922/923 - Death Comes For Amanda; Mrs. Sky Rumson"
The moon, moans Sabrina without preamble, looking up at it. (I cannot tolerate this actress or this character. I wish the blasted moon would swallow her up!) Carolyn asks, why are you here? You must see, insists Amanda--come with me!  Carolyn, realizing Sabrina has run away, wants to call the rest home--I want to help you. Come with me, don't ask, just come, begs Sabrina.

The Robservations drops a part of the quote and it's the "must" part - shameful...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Sky - 'You MUST be a true art lover') was back on May 17th of 2021, and the second (Julia - 'A View of South Wales. Somewhere in this room there MUST be an answer to this. But where? Where?') was back on January 18th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding March 9th's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]March 9th's quote:
Ep #1021 (1970PT) - Barnabas - 'You MUST tell us, Miss Harrington.'

From "#1020/1021: Robservations 07/15/03: Buffie, the Vampire Victim"
What happened? Cyrus asks Barnabas.  The vampire kneels down and quickly covers Buffie's fanged-marked throat with her scarf. I had just taken her home, explains Barnabas, and had left her apartment--I heard her scream, returned and found her this way.  I heard her scream, too, says Cyrus. Buffie, can you hear me? Barnabas asks.  I want to take a look at her, says Cyrus.  No, says Barnabas hastily--she's coming to.  What happened? asks Buffie.  Barnabas stares into her eyes and says, "You must tell us, Miss Harrington."  Frightened? she asks. Through hypnosis, he coaches her: Yes, what was it, he asks--something in the room, out the window? Yes, she agrees--I thought she saw someone at the window, looking in. Barnabas asks Cyrus to check, which he does--I don't see anyone, he reports, nor did I see anyone when I came in.  Are you sure you sure you didn't imagine it?, asks Barnabas. I guess I did, she says, I do silly things sometimes; I hope I didn't cause anyone any trouble.

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And since the forum was offline, here's the graphic for the quote:

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Barnabas - 'I MUST find that man!') was back on February 9th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding March 10th's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]March 10th's quote:
Ep #1086 (1970) - Hallie - 'No, David, we MUSTN'T! We MUSTN'T!'

From "#1086/1087: Robservations 08/29/03: Murderous Gerard"
As Tad and Carrie stand on a mysterious staircase, beseeching them, come into the room!, David asks Hallie, take my hand. No, she says, we mustn't go to them. They're calling us! objects David. And while the two of them argue what to do, Tad and Carrie disappear. They're gone, says David, where did they go?

The Robservations sort of references the quote, but Hallie's line is delivered as quoted and she doesn't say anything about not going to them...

And since the forum was offline, here's the graphic for the quote:

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Hallie - 'Oh, we've got to be careful. They MUSTN'T ever find out') was back on February 10th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding today's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Today's quote:
Ep #1146 (1840) - Edith - 'No, now you MUST lie down.'

From "#1146/1147: Robservations 10/29/03: The Real Daphne, Revealed"
No, moans Daniel, lying in bed, no sense to it, no sense at all!--why?--why, Quentin, why?  Edith puts a comforting hand on his shoulder, calling him Father Collins.  Who are you? he asks.  I'm Gabriel's wife, she reminds him.  Get out! he cries  You must lie down, insists Edith.  Don't tell me what to do, he orders.  Someone has to--you've had an attack, she says, now please lie down--there, Gabriel has gone for Cousin Julia.  What good will a doctor do? he asks, oh, Quentin, why, why?  Father Collins, says Edith eagerly, what did Quentin do?--what?

The Robservations references the quote almost perfectly...

And in case anyone misses it, here's the graphic for the quote:

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Daniel - 'It will ruin us. It will ruin us all. I MUST stop it. I will stop it!') was back on April 16th of 2023.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding today's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Today's quote:
Ep #1221 (1841PT) - Bramwell - 'You MUSTN'T say that.'

From "#1220/1221: Robservations 12/23/03: Morgan's Sacrifice"
Daphne looks through the window and sees Bramwell returning home.  Guiltily, he says--I felt I had to, he says, you understand?  I want to understand why you had to see Catherine, she says softly.  In times of crisis, one can never completely erase the past, he says--memories come back that demand certain actions--she's risking her life!--I couldn't let her go without trying to stop her.  Are you sure that's all there is to it? asks Daphne.
He turns to face her--I'm sure, he says.  Then I do understand, she says, and I love you all the more for it.  You mustn't say that, he insists, turning away again.  Why not?--it's true, she insists--you could never hate Catherine and that's as it should be--you're a good man, Bramwell, and deep down, a very gentle one--I'm going to make you a good wife, I swear--I'll do everything in my power to make you happy.  I believe that, he says.

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Catherine - 'No, Bramwell, you can't stop me that way, or any other way. You MUST have faith in me') was back on January 21st of 2022, and the second (Flora - 'Julia, we MUST decide on a gift. Something from the family') was back on January 21st. Apparently we love to use quotes from this ep on January 21st.  [easter_wink] [easter_grin]

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding March 13th's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]March 13th's quote:
Ep #90 (1966) - David - 'Mr. Malloy's ghost will keep coming back for 100 years until they find out who killed him. You MUST know something about that.'

From "#0089/0090: Robservations 07/24/01: Should I Stay or Should I go?"
What ghosts? She asks. There are two of them, he says, Josette Collins and another girl, but I don't know her name. There aren't two of them, reveals Vicki, but three of them. All I ever saw was two, he says. Didn't anybody tell you what I saw? she asks--I saw the ghost of Bill Malloy. I don't believe it! says David. You don't have to, says Vicki, I know I didn't believe you when you told me about your ghosts, but I do believe now. David is pleased. What did he do? he asks, talk to you? Yes, says Vicki, he told me to leave Collinwood. Oh, but you can't leave now, he says, you just can't. That's why I'm packing, she explains, I thought you wanted me to leave. That was before I knew he says, that you had seen a ghost--besides me, you're the only one who ever has. What difference does that make? she asks. If they let themselves be seen by you, he says, then that means they like you and want you to stay. Oh, no, he told me to leave, before I was killed the way he was, says Vicki, continuing to pack. Then that means that his death wasn't an accident, says David--I knew it all the time--he was murdered! What makes you say that, says Vicki. If it had been an accident, he wouldn't have come back, says David--the same way with Josette Collins--she didn't fall of Widows' Hill--somebody pushed her! That was more than 100 years ago, says Vicki. Mr. Malloy's ghost will keep coming back for a hundred years, insists David, until they find out who killed him--you must know something about it! I don't, she says. You could know and not even know it, points out David. That's nonsense, she says. It isn't, either, he says, please, don't leave Collinwood.

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Vicki - 'I MUST admit, though, it doesn't look quite as bad in daylight') was back on January 14th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding March 14th's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]March 14th's quote:
Ep #267 (1967) - Vicki - 'Preparing to jump? No, you MUST be mistaken.'

From "#0267/0268: Robservations 12/03/01: Will Liz Take a Dive?"
What ghosts? She asks. There are two of them, he says, Josette Collins and another girl, but I don't knowhe felt so comfortable with her, he was able to tell her about his concern for Liz--that it appears to him as if she's contemplating suicide.

The Robservations falls into the period where there's little detail so it doesn't reference the quote at all, but it does at least reference the circumstances...

And Ep #267 joins Ep #266 as an example where Midnite serendipitously happened upon an ep that hadn't been quoted from before.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding March 15th's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]March 15th's quote:
Ep #413 (1796) - Barnabas - 'Sarah. No, Sarah, you MUSTN'T see me.'

From "#0413/0414: Robservations 03/26/02: Barnabas Visits the Docks"
Sarah is about to light the candle in Josette's window when she peers outside and sees Barnabas looking up at her! Sarah calls to him, but he quickly recedes into the shadows, not wanting her to see him. Sarah races downstairs, intent on finding him, and Barnabas hurries away-she mustn't see him! Sarah asks why he's running away and begs him to come back.

The Robservations falls into the period where there's little detail so it only references part of the quote, but it certainly gets the main point across...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Vicki - 'I know this book MUST be very hard for you to accept') was back on July 15th of 2020.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding March 16th's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]March 16th's quote:
Ep #538 (1968) - Julia - 'I MUST be alone. You-- you heard me. Please, please leave me alone.'

From "Robservations 6/26/02 - #538/539 - Nicholas Disciplines Cass"
At the cemetery, Julia tells Stokes to hurry and get the lid open. Maybe you'll be in less of a hurry next time you bury the dead, suggest the professor. The lid is open, and Julia tells Stokes that she must be alone.

Another Robservations that falls into the period where there's little detail so it only references part of the quote, but it certainly gets the main point across...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Prof. Stokes - 'For once, I MUST admit I-- I don't know what we should do. You MUST forgive me, it's been a long time since I had this feeling') was back on February 5th.

[spoiler]March 17th's quote:
Ep #785 (1897) - Edward - 'We MUST, Quentin! In this we MUST be united.'

From "Robservations 1/28/03 - #784-785  - A Sudden Marriage; Magda Takes a Desperate Chance"
we know why he married her.  I never really thought much about Judith's charms, says Quentin.  We both know that isn't why Trask married her, says Edward--if she thinks for one minute that HE will be master of Collinwood--Quentin, do you have plans tonight?--we should go see Evan--there must be a way of annulling this mistake.  "Don't count on me," warns Quentin.  Edward huffily says, in this we must be united.  "I SAID DON'T COUNT ON ME!" shouts Quentin, and leaves the room.

The Robservations references most of the quote...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Magda - 'Ah, Mr. Edward, you MUST be so happy to have a man in the family at last! ::laughs::'') was back on December 12th of 2021.

[spoiler]March 18th's quote:
Ep #925 (1969) - Roger - 'And David MUST start on his lessons.'

From "Robservations 5/5/03 - #924-925 - Ang Returns; Maggie's Missing; Todds Divided "
Roger goes to answer the door. It's Philip, who has come to pick up Michael.  Roger invites him in. Philip bids Michael good morning. We haven't finished this game yet, says Michael.  I can't wait for you to finish, says Philip, I have work back at the shop. And David must start his lessons, adds Roger. "He can't do that until his governess comes back," points out Michael.  Roger looks at him, as does Philip, who asks Roger, is David's governess away?  We don't know where she is, says Roger--she seems to have disappeared. Philip stares at Michael, who smiles innocently, wiggling his eyebrows.

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (David - 'She MUST be somewhere in the house. Well, it doesn't seem like Maggie to go off without telling anybody') was back on February 8th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding March 19th's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]March 19th's quote:
Ep #1022 (1970PT) - Cyrus - 'No, I MUSTN'T. I know I MUSTN'T. She's Quentin's wife. Quentin's my best friend. Has been all my life.'

From "#1022/1023: Robservations 07/16/03: Yaeger Lusts For Maggie"
4:30 - Cyrus' lab - He returns and quickly starts to open the safe. No, I mustn't, he cautions himself, I know I mustn't--she's Quentin's wife, Quentin's my best friend, has been all my life! Buffie's right--so soft, so quiet, so special! What did Yaeger achieve with Buffie--nothing at all!--but with Maggie...no, I wouldn't do it, there have to be limits, even for John Yaeger! No, there are no limits for Yaeger, he would never give in so easily, never keep saying, over and over, no, no, no--his word is yes, nothing stands in his way--nothing! He opens the safe, takes out the potion and swiftly downs it.  Immediately, he is beset by the pain.

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Buffie - 'You MUST think I'm some kind of a fool') was back on May 19th of 2020.
