SHADOWS IN THE '90s: The Dark Shadows Concordance 1991 - PLOT SUMMARIES - EPISODE SEVEN:
WOODS: Victoria runs through the woods but stops, appalled at the sight of Collinwood. It clearly is still under construction. Victoria breathes, "Oh, no..." She approaches the house, then goes inside. Workmen engaged in various tasks are everywhere. Nearing tears, she whispers, "Dear God, what is this? Help me...!" She reminds herself, "The seance... Maybe I can get back the way I came..." She takes a seat on a barrel, closes her eyes and begins to fiercely concentrate. "Time to wake up now. Sara, I need your help. Sara, are you in this room? I need your help!" She becomes more frantic, continuing to call out to Sara. A man comes up to her and suggests she might find Sara in the nursery. Vic- toria, "You're - never mind." "I am Peter Bradford... and who are you?" Victoria, "Is this real? Never mind. Stupid question." He tells her it's not a stupid question - he asks himself the same thing all the time. "Sadly, I al- ways arrive at the same answer. This is as real as it will be." She looks around. "This house - why is it - ?" He ex- plains Joshua Collins asks him the same question on a daily basis - "But it is almost finished, praise God, and I hope in a matter of days to tell him he and his family can move in." Victoria repeats the name Joshua Collins - "Barnabas Collins is his son." Peter explains that Bar- nabas and his brother Jeremiah are his best friends. Vic- toria dissolves into tears. Confused, he apologizes for whatever he said. She sobs it's nothing, not his fault - "It's just all this!" He claims, "As worlds go, we are an Eden. Good soil, plentiful game, an ocean, and a wilder- ness to explore. Take heart! Now - what is your name?" "Victoria... Victoria Winters." "Victoria. 'Tis a lovely name. May I call you Victoria?" He asks her what she's doing in these parts. Still sobbing, she says she doesn't know. "I - I was sent here... I think." Confused, he asks if she's had an accident - perhaps hit her head? She seizes on this explanation - "Yes. An accident." He asks if she has a calling. She explains she's the new tutor for "David - Daniel". He realizes she's been to the manor house. She explains they were very kind, but thought her crazy. Concerned, he asks if there was talk of the bailiff. She says yes, and he wants her not to return; they will ship her off to the madhouse "and that is a fate worth weeping over. She insists she can't leave this place - it might be her only chance to get back. He decides not to try to understand, but if she wishes to stay she must convince them she is sane. "The boy thinks you're his tutor - his tutor you shall be." He takes
her to another room, which contains a writing desk, and writes a letter of introduction from her "previous owner" - "Joshua is a stickler; he will need bonded word." He offers to speak to Barnabas on her behalf. "You must have a sound tale, soundly told..." He continues writing.

And the summary doesn't specifically reference the entire quote but certainly enough of it to know when and how it comes up. On the other hand, a few lines here and there have been dropped. And the two uses of "must" in the latter part of the summary are indeed used, so those lines may show up in the slideshow as some future installment...
And as I've done previously when it comes to the '91 Series, I used a screen capture from the TGG Direct DVD release that's the same dimensions as the ones from the original series -
- because even though that release also doesn't have the correct color timing like the VHS release does -
- also like the VHS release, it has the correct aspect ratio, plus it even tends to show a bit more of the frame and it's clearer than the VHS.
And even though the MGM DVD release, like the TGG Direct release, is clearer than the VHS, frustratingly, the aspect ratio is cropped from 4X3 to 16X9 -
- and it's interesting that in this instance compared to the MGM release, the TGG Direct release shows more all around, which is the first time we're seeing something like that happen.
And Ep #12 now joins Eps #1, #5, #8, #120, #124, #136, #138, #189, #198, #210, #217, #478, #659, #667 and #904 as ones without any "must" lines - and that's just the first one for this month.
