I guess so, I just looked it up. I wonder how long it will be until the DVD's come out? Anyone know how long it took for the other seasons to come out on DVD? An average maybe?

Anyone know how long it took for the other seasons to come out on DVD?

The first season ended on June 29th and the DVD/Blu-ray came out on October 14th.

The second season ended on July 5th and the DVD/Blu-ray came out on October 6th.

Penny Dreadful: Here's How Season 4 Could've Unfolded Without Eva Green

did Green quit? what's with the do or die attitude around her?

and even if Vanessa had "died" given that reanimation, ghosts and eternal life are major themes on the show she certainly could have popped up at any time. something about this whole thing is fishy.  [ghost_huh]

My perception, for what it's worth, is that a number of people, starting with John Logan, the writer/creator of PD, had other projects to move onto.  Logan had mentioned in interviews during the first year that he had planned a 3 year arc.  In a couple of interviews that I have read since the finale was broadcast, he said that during the course of working on season 3, it had become clear to him that the end of the arc was also going to be the end of the series.  Apparently the principal players involved, including Eva, agreed.

Pretty much the same thing with the "cancellation" of DS although it's never been directly stated that Dan Curtis was the one who ultimately made the decision to pull the plug so he could direct NoDS and then move onto other things.  That is the only explanation that fits the chronology and the other pieces of info that have become available over the years. He certainly had a full plate as soon as the series ended and he pretty much kept gone right on for decades afterwards.

i haven't seen the season yet but the complaint i've been seeing ( in addition to general disappointment that it's over) is that that they were introducing new characters and subplots throughout the season that ended up being pointless given that it was ending.

there's a general impression that things were being set up for a fourth season and then the plug was abruptly pulled by someone and they had to wrap things up hastily.
