Is This A Joke Because It Just Seems Too Bizarre For Words!

Carol Channing prefers Johnny Depp

Though nothing has been set in stone, Carroll Channing would be "ecstatic" over the idea of Johnny Depp playing her in a bio pic, her agent Harlan Boll told TODAYshow.com.

"Carol thinks that it's wonderful," he said. "She's never seen a woman play her. She said, 'I was beginning to think I have a hormonal problem.' "

Depp has said his dream role would be to portray the actress/singer. “I love her, I really do. She’s amazing,” he told Britain's The Mirror. Channing touched base with the actor to thank him for the compliment, but "nothing was done (like) saying, 'Do you want to pursue this?' " Boll said.

Sounds like dream casting to me.  Depp has that ambiguous look and could probably pass for CC in a wig (as I'm sure SHE'S been wearing for years now)-- But can he do the VOICE?

I even thought up a "working title": HELLO, DEPPY !

Just as long as they don't schedule THIS ahead of the DS  flick which seems to be at the tail end of many other projects as it is.  I know what this is going to sound like, but I'd just like it over with.

"Hello Deppy", perfect title.  It writes itself.   I also would like to see Ed Asner as Ethel Merman.

Maybe they could combine both projects into one.  "A kiss on the neck may be quite sentimental, but vampires are a girl's best fiend..."

I think Depp would make a great Carol Channing.  My all time favorite performance of his is as the drag queen in "Before Night Falls."  Sheer theatrical brilliance.

When I saw ED WOOD,  I thought that, except for the moustache, Johnny Depp in a blonde wig look a lot like Deborah Harry, so I could see him as Miss Channing.

The challenge of a photoshop splice (as someone did fpr the the Depp/ Barnabas portrait) was too much for me to resist.  So here it is:

I can totally see him doing this.  Would it be a blockbuster?  Probably not but he does other stuff besides his BREAD N BUTTER movies.   Johnny has such range I wouldn't put it past him!   LOVES IT!
