DARK SHADOWS FESTIVAL PRESENTS
"DARK SHADOWS HALLOWEEN CRUISE"
October 27-November 3, 2013

SG Update # 272 (Oct. 30) premiere-announced initial confirmed information for the first-ever DS Ocean Cruise, celebrating 30 years of the DS Festival cast reunions & fan events. SG Update # 275 (Nov. 20) provided details including prices, itinerary / port locations, and DS programming schedule.

The Fest asks SG to announce and update with the following.
"Seven days round trip from NYC / NJ to Bermuda, on board Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas.

---- DARK SHADOWS CRUISE 2013 UPDATE -
ROOMMATE SERVICE & WEATHER REPORT

As reported in the previous SG Update, in lieu of a standard hotel-bound convention next year, the Fest is presenting the first-ever DARK SHADOWS CRUISE, the week of October 27 - November 3, 2013.
Special guests confirmed at this time are Lara Parker (Angelique) and Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie).
The cost of the 7-day event sailing to Bermuda:
Inside Staterooms from $749 per person
Ocean View Staterooms from $949 per person
Balcony Staterooms from $1099 per person
Suites from $1399 per person
Please Note: Rates are per person based on double occupancy and includes all meals, shipboard entertainment, all port charges and DS registration fee.
Government fees and taxes of $125 per person are additional.

---- CRUISE WEATHER REPORT
There has been some misinformation regarding the weather during the time of the cruise.
"The end of October and beginning of November are not an active part of the Atlantic hurricane season. When Hurricane Sandy hit this year, it was an exception, as nearly 100% of past hurricanes on the East Coast have occurred in August and September.
"Additionally, it is important to note that being on a cruise ship versus being on land is a great advantage during severe weather because cruise ships are mobile. A boat's captain can change course at any time and even alter the cruise itinerary, so as to keep a ship far away from the path of any storm.
"For example, there wasn't one single cruise ship anywhere near the area when Sandy struck because modern technology allows warning far in advance. Ships then can plot their courses elsewhere, out of the danger zone."

---- JERRY LACY IN NEW PLAY, "SURVIVING MAMA"
Jerry (Tony Peterson, Rev. Trask, Lamar Trask, Gregory Trask) is "Father" and "Pinsky" in the world premiere of "Surviving Mama," currently onstage in Santa Monica, CA.
Using flashbacks and contemporary scenes, the family drama is based on the Holocaust experiences of the playwright's mother, a feisty woman who escaped Nazi Germany in 1939 and eventually settled in Los Angeles. The character of "Mama" now suffers from dementia and declining health. Her adult daughters are considering placing her in an eldercare facility - and she reacts to their efforts.

---- MARIE WALLACE INJURED DURING PLAY PERFORMANCE
Last month, SG Update #271 reported news from Marie (Eve, Jenny, Megan) about her starring role as "Carol" in THE LAST ROMANCE at the 7 Angels Theatre in Waterbury, CT. The play opened Oct 18.
However, on Oct. 21, Marie accidentally fell off the stage during the blackout at the end of Act One and broke her shoulder. She underwent surgery a couple of days later.
SG joins DS fans everywhere in wishing Marie a quick, easy, and complete recovery. May you soon be back 100%, Marie!
