Hail, oh mighty jennifer!   [9050] [9050]

Being a DSF goddess ought to make you feel better. :)

My sentiments exactly. Congratulations, and I hope you're doing OK.

I really enjoyed Betsy Durkin's talk and I have much more appreciation for her work on DS. She seemed really touched at her response and I felt very good for her. I too agree that she should have done Vicki in the dramatic reading.

I, too, very much enjoyed her session, and meant to comment on it earlier. I was so pleased that SHE seemed to be so pleased with the audience's acceptance of her. I was so surprised to discover that she only appeared in 10 episodes. I guess I'd read that before, but it sure seems like more than that! I thought she was charming and very graceful and loved the stories she told, such as sneaking the kids into the studio as a Christmas gift. It was very, very nice highlight of the fest. Ditto that she should've played Vicki in the episode re-creation.

I didn't get to meet as many people from the forum as I had hoped. I guess when you only know usernames and avatars, it's hard to pick faces out of a crowd :)
Teresalita, I wish our chat hadn't been so brief, I was in a bit of a dispute with the hotel. I thought I'd get more oppurtunity later but all weekend was a whirlwind, I can't believe how quickly it was over. I also got to  meet Midnite, who was so sweet and charmed the hell out of me! And I met Barnabasjr, super-cool laid-back guy. There are so many others I wish I had met, I sure would like to put faces to usernames. All in all, a great time. I 'm glad I came, it was worth it.

Thanks, cousin, same to ya! I, too, was SO looking forward to meeting people from this forum, particularly Mysterious Benefactor, Midnite, retzev, BuzzH, Gothick, CyrusL, ProfStokes, and others that I knew through these boards would be attending. I recognized retzev from his myspace page and we hit it off really well and spent a good amount of time together. While we were at the bar Saturday night he pointed out who he thought may be Midnite and it was! We had a really nice conversation, but she was busy and had to scram. I'm truly sorry that I didn't meet more people from here, but it was a very busy fest that was over before you knew it and that was that!

Saturday wasn't nearly as satisfying to me as Sunday was, although the ever-cool auction was a blast, as was Nancy Barrett's performance, despite MANY audio problems. Finally being able to see the WB pilot was also totally cool, although it was much different than I'd imagined.

Sunday's activities were awesome from start to finish, some of the best I've seen at a fest, and made me realize how much I truly enjoyed being a fan and attending these fests.

I agree that the Grayson Hall segment was really lovely.

I've gotta second that. It was really lovely. Definitely a highlight.

Being a 3rd cousin from Virginia, I'll third that. I commented to retzev, with whom I had the pleasure of attending this part of the fest, that I noticed during this segment that the very packed room was totally silent, everyone was staring at the stage, thoroughly enjoying the presentation. I asked the author, Ms. Jamison, if she had noticed how enraptured the crowd was but she hadn't, as I'm sure she was nervous enough. It was magnificently well done, a culmination of much anticipation. The video presentation was fantastic, and having Nancy Barrett there to provide her own insightful comments was brilliant.

Hi Jennie,

To my recollection you'll get in a LONG line just to show your receipt and they give you a name badge that you have to be wearing in order to get into the various areas of the Fest, i.e., the infamous Dealer's Room, where a fan can go broke quickly, the ballroom where the Q&A sessions are held, etc. You come and go as you please all the livelong day. I can't quite recall how they give out the tickets for the banquet, I think there's a line just to get the tickets on Sunday, but I may be mistaken. I haven't been to a dinner since '99.

I'm happy for you to be experiencing your first Fest, it really is a blast.

Thanks for the tips. especially the fish and chips. I hope I'll finally learn how to pronounce your name! Has there been any mention of how/when/where people from this forum can hook up?
And who didn't want to slap Quentin when he had that little temper tantrum when Maggie appeared at the stairs wearing Angelique's dress? Seriously dude, if you still have that many problems with the ghost of your ex-wife you shouldn't have gotten married again!
That's what I'M talkin' about! He alone makes 1970PT almost unbearable! LOL re the bedhead-do, Gothick!

Current Talk '06 II / Re: parts you can't re-watch?

I started my DVD collection with set #9 that a friend gave me for Christmas a few years ago. To my recollection, DS had ended its Sci-Fi run, so it was good to be "back," although it put me right in the middle of the Adam story, which I wasn't crazy about. I took the plunge and started buying the sets from the beginning and eventually I caught up to the DVDs as they were being issued. One of the sets ended at 1995 and while I was waiting for the next set, I started from the beginning again (Barnabas Intro). I have not been able to force myself to get back into the Summer of 1970, I just can't take all the
Daphne/Gerard not speaking, David and Hallie pissing and moaning
even though I've continued to purchase the DVDs with the intention of revisiting 1840. Now I've truly come full curcle, back to where I started with set #9. I'd thought I'd bored with the 1967 Maggie/Prisoner shebang but this time around I found that I was fascinated. The anticipation of 1795 was so worth it, and now that I'm back to 1968 and enjoying Cassandra, the 1970 ghosts just aren't appealing.

Polls Archive / Re: How do you view your DSBoards?
« on: July 29, 2006, 04:07:42 AM »
I'd forgotten there was an option to change it. I've used red since it was implemented, but took a gander at the blue and bolted back to red ASAP!

The first thing I do when I bring up the forum, well, after the slideshow, which has become a must for me, is to see what's up in the Recent Posts. It drives me crazy when all that's listed are Caption This items. Many times I feel that I may have missed a good post and I don't always have time to dig into Current Talk or Calendar Events, etc. Not that I'm complaining, this board has been a lot of fun over the years, despite my lack of posts. Your posts, in particular, retzev, are always interesting.

A good one was when Vickie slapped Reverend Trask when he was interrogating her and he slapped her back.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: DS Revival Series -- Sigh
« on: July 11, 2006, 04:22:09 AM »
I totally loved the revival. It was actually my true introduction to DS, other than HoDS, as I never saw the original till the Sci-Fi run. While I wasn't crazy about the format of the DVDs, as well as the lack of ANY extras, the VHS tapes are aging and take up SO much space. I totally agree with your observations, especially regarding the ending (or lack of...).

Yes, there is usually plenty of time for the fans to check out the items up close prior to the start of the auction. It's a "look but don't touch", with the items laid out on a long cafeteria-type table. It draws a pretty hefty crowd that usually moves in a line, but the items tend to be so fascinating that the line moves SLOWLY! The items typically range from scripts to props to viewmaster sets, and other such memorabilia. The painting should be on an easle close enough to whet your appetite and make you think how much you really might bid. It's a lot of fun.

Please forgive me but for the life of me I have not been able to figure out how to quote spoilers. I totally know what you mean, Buzz, re fun w/ Barn & Liz. I kept replaying those scenes in slo-mo just to watch the new facial expressions appear. Great stuff!
