Current Talk '03 I / Waiting for Houdini.....
« on: March 05, 2003, 03:20:53 PM »
....or perhaps "The Great Kreskin"?

WHAT was that funeral bier they had David on?  Was the Set Decorator stoned?  It looked like the props from a traveling carnival's Magic Act!!

Can you imagine a family like the Collins' having such a display in the house?  Please.  And there's no 'dream sequence' excuse here....the point was supposed to be that Julia was 'seeing' the future reality....not having a 'long strange trip'!!

And about Julia's visit to the Drug Store......what was she supposed to get there?  Snake oil?  Linement?  Even Aspirin didn't hit the market until 1899!  Barnabas would have done better to introduce her to Magda and send them into the Collinsport  Pharmacopoeia......the local woods!!

....in order to make heads or tails of this stuff.  Keep in mind it's all new to me......

Why would Ghost-Quentin let David die?  I can't fathom this behaviour from the character that Quentin has become over the course of this arc.

Before-The-Curse-Quentin was a philandering, self-absorbed, spoiled lush.  After-the-Curse-Quentin is a tormented, remorseful, grieving father and lover.

THIS is the Quentin whom Jamison rejects.  And does that rejection revert him back to his earlier persona?

The character has lost, and suffered and changed.  So why would he take the life of another Collins child?

My own suspicion is that Quentin, like Barnabas, was never originally intended to be a good guy.  But once they got that pretty man on screen, and the fan mail started to pile up like snow, the character was allowed to become more sympathetic, and the pretzel-like plot twists commenced.

I don't know what comes next....but I ain't buying this Kill-David-Cause-I'm-Pissed stuff at all.

Current Talk '03 I / Be still my heart.......

....Barnabas actually said Willie Loomis' name.  Did everyone hear it?  "When the house was rennovated in 1967 Willie moved this desk to the drawing room."   Sigh.

What the hell was a desk doing in a "cell" in the first place?  Was there a demented author in the family we never heard about?

And what happened to Barnabas' ability to de-materialize?  What....does it come and go like a skin rash?  Or the Bat thing....I'm sure a bat with a human mind could figure out how to grab the bar, fold it's wings and slip on out of there!!  But NOOOOOOOO.....we've gotta do everything the HARD way!!   ::)

.....to quote MB!

A whole year?!  :o  THAT went fast.

Congratulations to Midnite and MB and Dom on an exhausting job done VERY well!!

What with problems and crises and glitches galore, we're still up and running, still posting and chatting, laughing (and sometimes crying) with each other.

Thanks to a common love for Dark Shadows, we've become our own little "neighborhood" of the artful, the bashful, the quick-witted, the fast-talking and  the slow-typers......all thanks to the tireless efforts of our small band of gypsies Moderators/Webmasters.  ;)

I got here one year ago today, and have had a BALL on this forum....as evidenced by my gabby 3.9 posts-per-day statistic.  :-[  ;D

Thank you, M M &D......and thank all of you.....oldies and newbies alike....for a wonderful place to visit.  :-*

Current Talk '03 I / Why Doesn't Barnabas Just Go Home?!!!
« on: February 26, 2003, 09:56:33 PM »
If the whole point was to prevent Quentin from "possessing' David then isn't it fair to assume that's been accomplished?

Quentin now knows that a boy named David Collins is in mortal danger because of him in the future.  Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that no matter WHAT happens to Quentin from here on in, the one thing he will NEVER do is threaten that little boy?  Or do we have to beware of Post-Mortem Amnesia?

Oh, I know....now he has to save JAMISON, otherwise there won't BE any future Collinses.  Well personally, I think that kid's been so traumatized he's likely to take Vows and retire to a Monastery, thereby blowing THAT plan all to hell.  ::)

I just checked the e-mail addy I use just for here and discovered that the last 4 e-mails I had on HERE are also appearing THERE.....and that's not normal!

Anyone else getting multiple e-mails?

Anyone care to explain it?

Ignore me if this has already been explained somewhere on the forum...haven't looked at it yet this morning!

....that we are no longer all "Cousins from England".

Now we're just "Members", which, if I remember correctly, was a choice NOT favored by the PTB around here

Personally, I'm feeling a bit....orphaned.... :'(

Current Talk '03 I / Semi-OT/....About coming to the Fest in New York....
« on: February 24, 2003, 09:55:13 PM »
Being a New Yorker myself,  and knowing how much attention is forcused on us during heightened Terror alerts, I was wondering.....

Is anyone here thinking twice about coming to the Fest SOLELY because of safety concerns?

I know the timing of the Fest is a problem for many of us (myself included) but is anyone thinking of NOT coming because you're worried?  ???  I'm really just curious to know what people outside of New York think about this.

....don't seem to have the little "last modified at such-a-time by who-ever" sentence at the bottom of the post.

That certainly makes us all look a little less stupid, but I thought it was something that was supposed to appear.....?

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Regarding Messages.....
« on: February 22, 2003, 03:45:32 AM »
.......Is there some indication when a message has been opened?  I can't find one, but maybe that's just me.

......Is the message supposed to read "are you sure you want to delete ALL messages" when you're simply deleting the LAST message?

.....Is there any problem with simply deleting each message from your 'bandeja de salida' as soon as you post it?  Or can that interfere in some way with the actual 'sending' of the message....I've noticed some strange time lags in sending and receiving messages.

.....the first truly likable character Louis Edmonds gets to play! [lghy]  I love it!  He's perfect!

Which probably means he'll spend weeks, locked up,  conveniently forgotten, and never seen again, right? ::)

.....or does the recent server move mean we can go back to being profligate and thoughtless?  Opening and collapsing boards has become a habit I don't even think about anymore, but I'd be more than happy to get comfortably lazy again....... :D

Current Talk '03 I / O/T "Uninvited" alert!
« on: February 05, 2003, 07:14:47 PM »
This movie was mentioned a number of times when we were all discussing "Good" and "Bad" horror.

It's scheduled to be shown this afternoon at 2pm on AMC.....at least according to what my local Cable company told my local TV Guide ::)

....when I hoped and wished for an old co-worker of Tyne Daley's from "Cagney and Lacy"  to show up on her current series "Judging Amy".

I should have said JOHN KARLEN a little bit louder, I guess......because it ends being Sharon Gless!  >:(

......but Thayer David deserves an award for putting up with those coke-bottle lenses in his glasses.

How on earth he kept that up without getting dizzy and falling over is beyond me.

Does he wear those things for the entire duration of the character?  :o

And speaking of the unholy pair.....is it just me or does Aristede bear a slight resemblance to Barnabas?
