....the Ill Omen Incarnate!!

Just when you thought it was safe to go in the Gallery.....THERE'S her portrait.  In the possession of yet ANOTHER man! Two hundred years of obsessive love for Barnabas....but the girl will marry anything in a pair of pants!!  [vryevl]....Can we say strum-pet?

Current Talk '03 I / About Michael Maitland.......
« on: April 30, 2003, 02:03:48 PM »
.....can anyone tell me if he's the same actor who appeared as Young Nathan in the Broadway musical "The Rothschilds" in the early 1970's?  I saw that....but I'm sure I don't have the Playbill anymore.  Thanks!

.....is appearing on my computer with the right edge pushed so far over I can barely grab the scroll bar with my arrow.  Sometimes it's managable...but others it's almost completely obliterated.

Is anyone else having this problem or is it my own personal peculiarity?

Thanks

......Actors should steadfastly REFUSE to perform with animals or small children.  In this case, we're not exactly sure which.

Evil Barnabas lecturing little BlondieMonster..... ::)

Thank heaven for the ever-enthusiastic Prof. Stokes....."It's like being in the middle of a mystery novel and not knowing how it ends!!"  :D

.....pea green with envy of the people who appear in color on the Online list.  Except that I'm not green....I'm boring, boring white.

It's not that I mind being the same color as 99% of the forum members....I'm FINE with that.

But do we all have to be WHITE!!??  Can't we all be pink, or purple or sage green, or ANYTHING but WHITE?!!!  [bawling2]

(only please...not Indianred.....) [smrtasb]

I'd try it out myself just to see what happens but then I'd have to wait for membership to re-open before I could get back in. [vryevl]

I've seen a lot of pentagrams in my time.....(a LOT of pentagrams, actually)...... and the one Barnabas gave to Carolyn has to rank among the tackiest I've ever set eyes on.  What IS that...rhinestones?.....metal beads?....badly executed hammering?

The man has a cache of family jewels in the basement and THAT was the best he could do for his cousin?  [tngb]

Coming back evil is one thing......coming back without a SHRED of good taste is another thing altogether.  [noseinair]

Current Talk '03 I / Not Since Maggie and Joe.....
« on: April 14, 2003, 04:38:20 PM »
....have we seen a nice, normal, loving, affectionate couple like Megan and Phillip Todd.  Why is that?  It's generally useful to make the audience CARE about people before you put them in jeopardy......if we don't feel something for them, we won't care much when disaster strikes.

That's an aspect of storytelling that never got much attention on DS.....once the supernatural became the driving force of the show, real feelings and natural behaviour went right out the window.

Even the Todds get only a couple of episodes and now the inevitable kiss of death is at hand.  I've never seen 'Leviathans' but I already know that instead of an extended period of character and relationship developement (which would have provided relief from the tension and encouraged emotional investment in the characters) we're about to get hit with All-Hell before we've even caught our breath from the return from 1897.

If we're still talking about why ratings began to go down....THIS practice gets my vote.

Current Talk '03 I / And so we return.......
« on: April 10, 2003, 02:30:45 PM »
.....just in time to join the brain-cell-devouring "Music and Art" fest that was the psychedelic sixties.

Just in case we weren't sure where in time we'd ended up, we had Carolyn's day-glo quilted skirt to clue us in.  Ever the fashion pioneer is our Carolyn!  (The light flare off that thing must have driven the cameramen and the technical director crazy!)

But the REAL illustration was, of course, the Leviathan Ceremony, in all its "let's pretend we're shamans!" glory!!  "The Past is but the Beginning of the Beginning...."  What the F**k?  This was as "enlightened" as they could get?  Come on!  This stuff is supposed to be Cosmic!....Mind Blowing!

Sombody must have stolen a REALLY dull book from the Occult Book Store.  Carlos Castaneda would have spit his mushrooms out laughing.

I can't wait to see what turns up next....a ghuru?...a poet?.....the Greatful Dead?  Actually, I think I'm going to LIKE this storyline!

BTW....if we're still auctioning off Collinwood's artifacts (that was a great thread) I'll take that lovely little red leather giornale with gilt-edging that Julia was waving around at the old house.

like....far out.....

Current Talk '03 I / Getting the heck out of 1897!.....
« on: April 08, 2003, 06:51:59 PM »
A question for the scholars among us:

Has anyone involved with the show ever commented on the relatively hasty conclusion of this story arc?  I know....for some of us the whole story has been interminable.....I'm referring to the speed at which it suddenly reached a crescendo, all the badies got their just rewards, many hasty goodbyes were exchanged and then everyone moved on to "Leviathan"

It seems as though someone suddenly said, "Enough already!!....get us a whole new story!".....and the writers had 15 minutes to decide where they were going next.

Anyone know the background of this transition?

Current Talk '03 I / Great Montage.....

.....it makes it look like "1897" ends "with more dead bodies than the last act of 'Hamlet'"!  ::)

rainey....who'd be glad to attribute that quote if she could remember where it came from.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Okay.....Why am I missing?
« on: April 04, 2003, 03:52:55 PM »
When I first saw 1 guest and 1 cousin listed, and that being MB, I assumed it was in the middle of some new change and ignored it.

But now it's showing 1 guest and 1 cousin and that's RobinV and I'm still missing.

If I've been kicked out of Paradise someone forgot to change the locks, cause I'm still here.

Am I dead.... ???

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Subject Field
« on: March 10, 2003, 04:15:44 PM »
Why is it necessary for my whole message to be deleted because I commit the unpardonable error of forgetting to put something, ANYTHING, in the subject field?

Is it an IE compatability problem?  Is it a glitch that's going to be worked out?  Is it a mortal sin I must learn NEVER, EVER to commit again?

What a pain in the ass to have a long post vanish at the click of a 'preview'!
