Wow, Victoria, that was a fabulous review.  I've never read the novel, so I appreciated your references to that.

Literate storytelling really isn't in vogue, is it?  I have to admit that what you write of the cast makes me salivate.  I just watched the 1965 film, Dr. Terror's House of Horrors--Donald Sutherland was incredibly sharp (and gorgeous to look at) with very limited material in that.

I've been checking the boards for reviews from fans who watched the Newman Frankenfurter--thought it aired last week???

Was it so bad we've decided to just forget it ever aired???

It was so funny to have this show up on the TV set as my roommate and I were getting ready to run that evening's rental--the DVD of Taste the Blood of Dracula.  As fate would have it, when I had the movie on it was the scene where the Undead Lucy is trying to lure her fiance into her embrace.  It was obviously a send-up of several similar scenes from classic Hammer films.  Unfortunately I didn't bother continuing to watch, so I missed the actual staking (I find the pacing of Mel Brooks later work really uneven, in a distracting way--there was some gag or other he was dragging out unnecessarily in this sequence, which made it all too easy for me to switch to my movie).

DS to DA, these are brilliant.   I never watched Y & R so I don't "get the joke," but I think what you have created is beautiful.  I enjoyed both a lot, but of course my favorite is the first one--gotta love JAB!

That photoshop program with which you created the "sketches" produced marvelous work.  The close-up of Grayson's face from the TV Guide article is particularly impressive.

Congratulations and hearty hugs to MB, Midnite and dom!

What else can I say but "you light up my life" (hmm, that would make an excellent soundtrack to a fan video of Ang torching sequences...)

I'd enjoy seeing this again.  I do recall watching it back in the day and being glued in the tube.  IIRC, the main demon or whatever was named Sargon which is odd, to say the least, since Sargon was a king (of Akkad, I think), NOT a demon.

I remember enjoying the banter between Thinnes and his middle-aged buddy--probably if I watched now, I would find it as derivative and plunky as you say, though.

Wonder whether this has been released by MPI?

Funny that Patti mentioned Chris P coming in drag.  He did appear in drag in the Merchant-Ivory early Seventies film, Savages (in an ensemble cast which also included Thayer David).

Mistress Julia!!!  I love it!!!

You're the only one besides me so far that I have heard of writing Julia-as-Dominatrix stories.  I participated in a round robin years ago where Julia became a vampire and I got to write her first appearance.  I kitted her up in this leather outfit, complete with boots and car-coat, and had a huge amount of fun with it.  I'm sure Grayson would have found it a HOOT, given her impatience with Julia's "straight-a$$" ways.

I wonder whether the good Doctor was thoughtful enough to provide her "patient" with knee-pads? LOL!!!

Just watched again and my admiration grows and grows.  I love the montage recalling earlier phases of  B & J's relationship (the one where she brushes her hair lightly with her fingers is so endearing), the way you edited the B & J scenes from this storyline, the wonderful Julia/Ang catfight, and that killer ending!

So when are we going to see 1995: Divided Loyalties? (or whatever)

A Fan Forever,

Steve

Thanks for posting that link.  Newman's comments on the DS pilot really hit the mark, particularly his words about backstage politics...

I keep going back to today's Montage (featuring the Many Screams, Shrieks, and Hurlings of Miss Sabrina Stuart) and just plain CACKLING.

My fedora is off to El Mysterioso yet again!
When Barnabas dies in 1795, Angelique gets very nervous.  Very very nervous.  Ben asks her what's wrong, and she footles about, and eventually says:  "Have you ever heard the word VAMPIRE, Ben?"  So far as I know, it was the first mention of that word on the show.  I wondered whether DC had a policy to try and avoid it because I know he was aiming for more realism in the original Barnabas story.
That's really nice to know, Fran.  I know Grayson was really fond of Tony and it's good to know he's had such a great life.

I wonder whether he has ever been invited to a Festival?  I really enjoyed his work on the series.

I thought Tony George had been listed in one of the early 90s KLS books--the original DS companion, perhaps? as already past tense.  Let's hope my memory is faulty (once again).

I just watched these episodes (on my handy videotapes, which are around ten years old but still play beautifully) and I thought The Briscoe was HAWT in that white turtleneck.

Sandor, did you see the one where Chris and Carolyn had come in after spending the evening out, and Chris talks about how "relaxed" he feels, and Caro has a line something like "Are you relaxed, Chris?" and he gives her a mischievous smile and says words to the effect of "Yes, and you should know why!"  I thought the actors were playing the scene as if there had been some hanky-panky between the two at that point, although my guess is Caro was too shrewd to let Chris go further than second base (lucky gal).

Too bad there was no scene of Chris lounging around the Cottage in a lurid bikini-brief bit of shorts--and nothing else!

dreamily, G.
