Yes, I obviously didn't catch your byline when I had my very brief brush with the piece (pick up zine, flip past pages, go, "seen that, done that"), return to rack.

As you know, my enthusiasm for the topic for the WB project was never very high, and the tude of those suits left a REALLY bad taste in my mouth for the whole thing.  I'm sure your writing enlivened an otherwise sad subject.

Kudos!

Thanks, MB.

I'm not into those Blade movies, but I may rent Blade: Trinity when it's out on disc because of those scorching shots of Ryan Reynolds from the film a friend sent to me...

It would be nice if the material presented in the Fangoria article had percolated into the lore of those media columnists who keep repeating that the WB canceled Angel to make room for DS, then ditched the latter because the material was "unsalvageable."

I didn't have time to read anything about the storylines in that article.

I looked at that Fangoria issue in a store, and there wasn't much new there that I could see.  There weren't many photos and none were an improvement on the ones published on Collinwood.net.

The article seemed to argue that network execs short-sightedness and budget issues were what doomed it, which was pretty much what I had gathered from the numerous posts here over the past year.

It's an expensive magazine, so I would say--only order it from the website if you're a completist with the "remakes of DS" stuff.

I'm sure Lost is one of those shows that you have to have watched from episode 1 to follow, so I'll wait for the DVD's.

Of course, I said that years ago about 6 feet under, and I still haven't gotten around to seeing any of it...

If Lost is as intelligent as you say, it won't be on TV for very long.  Unless it's on HBO or Showtime, of course.

Thanks for holding out that hope about the Japanese release possibly containing the Julia's walk sequence, Darren.  My own hope in that area is zero, but who knows?

As Jean-Claude mentioned, the cut of the greenhouse scene makes Jeff's absence in subsequent scenes completely inexplicable.  I remember that I didn't even understand what was happening in the movie half the time until I read the "Marilyn" Ross novelization, which as you know was based on an early script draft, and included several sequences never even filmed.

And dammit,I *want* that scene where Roger complains that all the craziness at Collinwood is cutting in his time reading... PROUST!

Ah well.  At least I have the laserdisc version of the films to enjoy (though as you pointed out long ago, only the one shown on television has the correct sound mix for NoDS).

I have seen neither Lost, nor Desperate Housewives, nor Carnevale.  I am slowly but steadily morphing into a dotty old curmudgeon who does not watch anything lensed after 1979.  On the other hand, just now I checked out the DVD of Practical Magic from the library--I am borrowing that more for professional purposes than from an interest in the film as such.

I just want to thank you for getting me through the work week with your wonderful little essays.  I really must some day create a bound version, illustrated with photographs from the shows.

I would love to see our beloved Mysterious One including screen captures from these shows, but I know his plate is already WAY too full for that.

Thanks again,

Steve

Is Sandra Lee related to Sara Lee?  I only ask for reference purposes.

At least Burke didn't slip a funny little paper umbrella into David's drink.

I thought they were really pushing the idea that Burke was David's real father (biological father) in these scenes between the two.  As for Vicki's parentage, I go back and forth; there are later scenes in which the only possible interpretation of Liz's reaction is that Vicki is really her daughter.  I do think what we're seeing here from Liz are some serious cracks in her frostry facade, even if Vicki doesn't benefit from them.

Pats in that photo looks like Laura Collins in her 2005 return to Callanwood: "Eat THIS, Barnabas!"

Heather, you and your sister have SUCH good taste--have I mentioned that before??? Yup, I think set 9 of those DVDs has my name on it.

Hey Jennifer, hope you guys are OK out there!  My landlady's son did the sidewalk with his snowblower so all we had to do was dig out my roommate's car which only took about an hour on Sun.

I haven't gotten hold of any of the DS DVD's.  I may get the set with Julia's vamping by Tom on it just to try out the format.  I really need to replace all of my Cassandra tapes--a couple of those have not worn well, probably because I play them more frequently than most of the others.

I love watching Patsy Stone on "Ab Fab."  As a small child my Mom's best friend was named Patsy, so I always smile when I see all the signs around town that say "Go Pats!"

here I am in a world of my own,

It was probably the best scene in the movie.  It hit the cutting room floor before any release print, so apparently the footage no longer exists. Back then, they didn't save cut scenes for "the DVD".  *pout*

There are some other great scenes in that movie that were cut.  Basically any scene that gave any motivation or explanation for the film's bloody events was deemed to be "too slow," or something.

Jean-Claude, darling, you're skirting MAJOR dream territory with those conjurations of luscious, soapy, naked Briscoe... sigh.

Unfortunately, the I Dream of Jeannie episode is nothing to get too excited about.  Don appears in a group of 3 other men (but of course shines as the most handsome of the three).  He has a couple of lines but no close-up. The Iron Horse thing sounds interesting--I'd never heard of that one.

I don't remember, but that would certainly make ME recoil in disbelief.

The author of those ... works (I am not sure just what word should be used to denote the things) once described Angelique as having an olive complexion.  That shows he had no idea how the people actually appeared, apart from perhaps Liz, Barnabas, Vicki and anyone else who appeared on the covers.

Heather, I'd never visited that site before.  Hilarious, nay, Hysterical!

theirs just happened to focus on Julia.

Darling, that's like saying a talk by the Dalai Lama "just happened" to focus on Buddhism.

and before you say it, I know, I know... "pot, kettle!"

I think a Cassandra fashion folly would be a HELL of a lot of fun, too (literally!).  Another fan and I tried once to count just how many different wigs Cass sported during her tenure at C'wood.
