It would be nice if Blaisedon would be included as an extra on one of the DVDs.  It doesn't seem to warrant a stand-alone release, although it is a fun snippet and I've watched it several times over the years.

Well, I am going to be revisiting the final 13 weeks of Strange Paradise at some point, since I finally got hold of decent copies of the episodes--several of the tapes I had gotten hold of previously for those weeks were really horrendous quality--so, I may revise my opinion somewhat.  I just find the major plot twist of those weeks very difficult to swallow, because both the major premise and a lot of the related supporting stuff flatly contradicts what we were shown in the previous two storylines.

I'm pleased that you have been able to get hold of info regarding plotting, story outlines, etc. because I have been wondering ever since I got to see the series as an adult why it seemed to change stream so abruptly on a couple of occasions.

I thought the series jumped the shark after the completion of Tudi Wiggins' second story arc.  The last 13 weeks of that show are something of a puzzlement--they brought in a new writer and had some really egregious disruptions of the story continuity.  It's still fun to watch, mainly because of such stalwarts as Colin Fox, Cosette Lee, Jack Creley, and the delightful Pat Moffatt--but some of the additions to the cast (I'm thinking particularly of Trudy Young and Jack Goodier) are at the level of bad community theatre.

Bryan, the updates are fabulous!  I'm more excited than ever about the book.

Excellent work!

Best,

Steve

Thanks, David.  I had heard this news through the grapevine.  Really quite sad.

Uncle Forry was in a number of films as a cameo performer, always a fun turn.  His mag offered up my first visions of the magic of fantasy films, horror and, as he liked to call it "scientifiction."  I have a memory of my grandfather buying a copy of FM for my sister and me on an outing when I was 7 or so, to my mother's chagrin.

I don't think younger fans today realize how much FM and similar mags meant to us back in those pre-Internet, pre-DVD days.  They were a vital link with the people and films we loved.

Vale Forry!

Hi Nelson, I don't recall Crystal being in Trask's "Your Hit Parade" line-up for Barn in '68.  If she had been there, it would have been very confusing for the audience because the character was not a part of the original 1795 story.

Hey JW,

not having had the time to read all the other posts in the current 1796 thread, I may be repeating something already stated:  Dan Curtis stepped in to direct for this week (so far as I am aware, this was one of his very few, and I believe first, stints directing the show).  After I found this out, certain elements of this flashback that seemed out of sync with the rest of the show started to make sense, due to DC's love of violence as an element of style, Grand Guignol imagery, and plot "twists" that don't always make sense.

I chalk the notion of Ben killing the Countess and Forbes up to DC's active hand in those shows. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who came up with that notion.  Some of the most drastic plot twists on the series were dictated by Dan.

cheers, G.

I listened to the whole damn thing, and she's not in there.

There is this one bit where some dude is chanting her name on a loop, if that counts.

I wonder whether he did not sample GH's vocal due to concern over rights issues?  Let's be thankful for small favors.

MB, do you need any quotes for November?  Lots of my favorite episodes aired in this month, as I recall.

A DS PS:  Set 12 of the regular DS series arrived over the weekend (a sale purchase from Amazon vendor), and last night in honor of All Souls Day I was test driving it.  I watched the brilliant scene where
the ghost of Madam Finlay speaks through Mrs Johnson at a seance in January 1969.
Clarice Blackburn fiercely rules!

I watched an episode of Boris Karloff's Thriller called "The Grim Reaper" with Bill Shatner and Natalie Schafer competing in shredding the scenery (I think Schafer, who played Lovey Howell on "Gilligan's Island," gets the prize for cooing in a very sloshed drawl, "Death is my business partner, dahling" to a horrified Shatner).  And I watched Barbara Steele's scenes from The Crimson Cult in which Steele appears in bright green fright makeup, fire engine red lipgloss, a gigantic pheasant-feathered rams horn headdress, and a sick Ren Faire bodice with a very pneumatic bustier.

Neither of these is available on DVD, but I did watch a couple of Forever Knight music videos from the final DVD set of that series, as well.

Holiday cheer!

Hey Nelson Collins,

I adore the Two Fat Ladies!  I've been a vegetarian for nearly 28 years and I laugh out loud every time the old dears start on about us.

cheers!  Gothick
