Ah, DS Festival management--last refuge for the halt and lame!

It reminds me of the end of Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe:  "We apologise for the inconvenience."

Unfortunately it is by the dreadful Dan "Marilyn" Ross... as I recall it, this one does actually have some decent bits, such as the scene under discussion--all no doubt cribbed from Sam and Gordon.

That is wonderful news re Louise Jameson.  She always struck me as a very hip, very talented actress, who deserved more (although admittedly I haven't been able to follow her career since the Who days).

I love it that they're going cross-fandom with these... very cool!

The capture that was posted during the day on Tuesday was really quite delightful.  You didn't need a caption to see that Mrs. Johnson thoroughly disapproved of Jason Maguire from the get-go.

It doesn't get much better than Clarice Blackburn and Dennis Patrick... one of the many marvelous moments from the first year of DS, as was discussed recently in another thread.  In many ways year one was the absolute pinnacle for the series--certainly insofar as the skillful management of dramatic tension and subtle unfolding of characterizations and plotlines goes...

I remember a scene in the Old House drawing room where Barn offers Julia some sherry, which she praises as "dry! lovely!"

I lost my copy of that book somewhere dans les brumes de l'antiquite, as the saying goes, alas...

Ah, here it is--the fateful first glimpse of the REAL star of the show in 1970, Hoffman!  I just adore every snide, sinister, sardonic word that drips from those sublimely bitter lips of hers.  Yes, Hoffman is one jive mo-fo, and indigent female pensioner-relatives in hand-me-down sweater sets better not forget it.

Love the line--I think it's actually in a subsequent episode--where Hoffman is orgasmically crooning over the late lamented Angelique "let them remember HER" and Liz snaps, "How could anyone EVAH forget her?"

Hoffman and Liz don't get too many scenes together in the later body of the PT 1970 storyline, which is a pity.  I love how the two characters play off one another.

MB, that shot of Megan and Sky is simply stunning.  It looks like a painting!

I get the impression that Marie Wallace could barely care two shakes of a rat's tail for her stint as a vampire, but I just adored how she chewed the scenery... and any available male ... in the role!  Go Marie!

This is fascinating, Brian.  I've thought about purchasing the hoDS and NoDS dls for my laptop but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

It's disturbing to think there are further cuts on the NoDS dl.  I hope they fix it but doubtful that they will bother.

I really have no idea who Ms. Williams is or what her show entails, but given what has been shared thus far, I devoutly hope that she has not been cursed to walk the night For All Eternity.

I wonder what Count Petofi would be like as a chat show host?  Particularly with, say Cassandra Collins as his co-hostess?  The mind boggles.

Wow, I loved Briscoe with the longer hair! Adorable!

But sad to think of how close to devastating personal collapse he was at this point in his life...

No idea, Charles.  The original idea may have been just a voiceover and then the notion of using another actress in blurred longshot may have appealed to the director... I don't have any idea about what happened.

I'm guessing GH never saw the finished product.

Board traffic on IMDB continues to claim that season 4 of Dante's cove will be in production as soon as they line up all the "actors" involved.

Robot Quentin, did you know that Grayson did a voiceover for a bad 1970s "art" film called Pick-up?  She was supposed to be the spirit of the ancient Priestess, the Pythia, of Apollo.

It's actually on YouTube if you search Grayson Hall...

Warmest wishes,

G.
