Did Matt Hall write episode 9? There's some REALLY juicy dialogue in here.

I think Ruth Buzzi played a Witch in this outrageous skit that was originally aired on Night Gallery (but for some reason wasn't included in the season 2 DVDs, at least not any of the ones I received from Netflix).  A couple of the short "vignettes" seem to have gone missing, but perhaps they'll be restored if the studio ever releases season 3.  I wonder if this person could have seen this on television and not knowing vintage TV very well, somehow thought they were watching DS?

Mitt Romney does bear a certain resemblance to Sky Rumson--unscrupulous, wooden, shellacked hair, in the pay of Netherworld creatures.

Since Susie was mentioned here, I'll share this little tidbit rather than making a new thread.  Susie was played by actress/singer Carol Crist.  I just saw an episode of the 1965-produced series Coronet Blue, co-starring Frank Converse and Brian Bedford, which was aired finally in the Summer of 1967 after sitting on a network shelf for a couple of years.  Carol showed up in an episode that bore the rather Shadowy title "Presence of Evil" as a cheery, guitar-strumming folk-singer in the coffee-house, The Searching I, which was part of the show's set-up.  She's only onscreen for a few minutes but does get a nice lingering closeup around the end of her time in the show.

I tried Google but couldn't retrieve more info.  I really wonder just how long she was in the city and where her career went from her time on Coronet Blue and DS--if anywhere.

What a marvelous story, KMR.  I just love moments like that.

Is "Cue #2" the music those of us who had the 1969 DS LP think of as "A Darkness at Collinwood."  I often think of that as "Barnabas' theme" because it so often played over scenes at the Old House when Barnabas and Julia were talking things over.

There was an article somewhere back in June, I think, where Burton or somebody claimed that the Elfman score would include at least Robert Cobert's classic title theme.

Ah.  Was her character taking the place of Mrs. Johnson, then?

I still don't know how the original series was able to get away with every matriarch of Collinwood, from Naomi down to Liz, living without a lady's maid.  Such privation would have seemed positively indecent to our ancestors, although Liz obviously had her reasons for firing her own maid in 1949.

I suspect that ONE DAY's expenses on the movie set were equivalent to MORE than what it cost to make all five years of the original series...

But I'm no actuary!

Remember KLS's story about the false fingernail fangs?  I suspect that Terrayne/Beth got the same treatment for her own one day in fangs...

I'm afraid I don't remember Sophia Loomis at all in the pilot.  Willie's Mom??

Burke and Liz had a big confrontation early on.  Can't recall the episode numbers, but it's the one where he pretty much smooth-talks Carolyn into bringing him home with her.

I do love how Roger flips when he finds out Burke is at Collinwood in that earlier episode.  Fab work from Edmonds.

That's a great snap of Helena with that bloke at the party. She's such a gamine little thing.

Onwards and upwards!

I had the same thought, Michael C.

Wow, that close-up is phenomenal! Thanks so much, Philippe!  It actually makes me want to see the movie again, which is pretty incredible in its own right.

The beginning of the Empire mag article, which is hard to read due to the poverty of the scan and the weird color chosen for the typeface, describes Burton directing Depp in a scene in which clearly there is going to be major use of CGI.  And the blue bands that extend around the top of the Collinwood facade outdoor set show that in any of these scenes, lots of CGI will be involved to finish off the mansion--beyond whatever action is involved.
