It's almost not a DS-themed publication if there aren't some errors... or so it would seem.

Wow, wow, wow! I have lost count of how many times I have been checking the VW site to see when this would be posted.  THRILLED.  This one is going to be the ne plus ultra!  Can't wait to have it on my shelf.

I look forward to congratulating all involved once it is released!

I think this is OT for just about everything but I'll just report it briefly here:  there are press releases circulating as of yesterday that one of the networks (NBC?) has commissioned a new Dracula TV series starring the epically luscious Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (of "Velvet Goldmine" and "The Tudors" fame) as the Count.  The blurb sounds distinctly lame but JRM fans will want to have a look.

It said something about the production company (Carnival something-or-other) being connected to super Brit-hit Downton Abbey, too.

Just reporting the news fwiw.

How cool.  I definitely see it as an inspiration for the 1795 storyline with the idea of Victoria being transported back to the 1790s.

"Berkeley Square" also has the distinction of having been H. P. Lovecraft's favorite film.  Lovecraft, whose "Call of Cthulhu" was an important source for the Leviathans storyline, died in 1937 and generally didn't like films.

Thanks for the notice, M. Philippe!

Like a lot of New York actors, Tony George was a friend of the Halls.  He and Grayson were particularly fond of one another, and I think it shows in some of the Burke/Miss Hoffman scenes.

Interesting.  there's definitely a number of people in the "industry," critics obviously among them, who are going after Burton, hatchet firmly in hand.  I don't know about Depp because I don't really follow the media coverage on him.

I gather there's been nary a whisper of releasing the '04 WB pilot as an extra for the feature film release.

Yeah, I wish I had picked up his DS rehearsal tape. That sounded like a fun item.

I guess for the DVDs to continue, someone would have to manage all of it on behalf of his estate.  It's more work than people realize.  So if people want the discs, they do need to get them now.

What would a visit to Collinwood be without a thunderstorm?

I hear a rumor that that fabulous new book by the late Craig Hamrick and the sweet & sassy RJ Jamison, Barnabas & Co., will be on sale.  And then there's the new PomPress book with the fascinating new essay on the films from yourself!

cheers, G.

Excellent advice all around Darren.  There will be no memorabilia to purchase so folks should definitely budget for cabs, or bring memorabilia to barter for rides in other fans' cars.

And I both love and get weepy at your choice of t-shirt, Darren.

hugs,
Steve

Oh wow, you're flying into Westchester.  Ugh.

Sending good vibes!  Hope someone can connect with you and help you out.

I am sure you will have a great time!

Cool site.  I don't really have time to go through it all, but I like it and will re-visit.  The collection of quotes from Prof. Stokes is something I particularly enjoyed seeing.

I just did a Google search on the location of the Double Tree because after I posted, I wondered if it was the same place where they had a Festival a few years ago.  It seems to be.  Lyndhurst does look as if it is located such that you could walk there.  Hopefully somebody will be able to give you a ride.  The actual town is down route 9 a ways and I think is completely inaccessible to foot traffic.

Maybe you'll buddy up with another fan, or group of fans, and you can all caravan along.  Like I said, it was nice in the days when one did not have to get creative with transport if one wished to attend a DS fan event...

I wouldn't call it walking distance.  I remember it being on a big strip-like road with no sidewalks, so walking more than to the next hotel down the strip is kind of problematic.

Sorry to hear the Festival info did not bother to explain this to people.  *rolls eyes*

And I'm really sorry I am not going to get to see you!  The whole thing just sounds like a mess.

Best wishes,

Steve

Cousin B, I've heard that theory, but I don't know that I'm convinced.

It may be that George got listed first because of his starring role in the early 1960s series Checkmate (which also starred Sebastian Cabot and an incredibly young Doug McClure).  Maybe.

Being listed first in the scroll hardly equates to star billing IMO.  Just how I see it.
