I think one more Barnabas scene--maybe the last one?--may be coming up!  Whoo and Hoo.

I didn't realize that Alec Newman had so little to do in this.  It would help if I could remember more about the screening.

That's a great still of Ivana as Angelique.  I don't recall having seen that and I certainly don't recall the red hair.

Was I asleep at this point?  I do actually recall the ending of the pilot.  I hated it.

But, onwards.  Great shot of Carolyn after Barnabas has been her his "attentions>

PT Samantha also disappears abruptly.  In that case I figured it was simply that Virginia Vestoff's schedule got way too busy to cross town to do the show.  She was appearing in 1776 simultaneously with working on DS for at least a few weeks or months as I recall.

This music video from Fred Schneider's Superions project has certain features very reminiscent of our favorite show...

A fun treat for Halloween.

Doctor and K9:
I always thought that Quentin was the one who killed Stella.  David Selby suddenly had to be hospitalized about 2 weeks from the end of the series, and I always thought that the mystery was left unsolved because that was the solution they had for it and they couldn't come up with anything else.  The idea that Melanie was the culprit was, IMO, a red herring.
It's beyond bizarre at the very end of the show that Kendrick Young (played by John Karlen) comes to Collinwood to solve the mystery of his disappearance, then winds up leaving without ever really talking about Stella for the last few weeks of his time there.

I always wonder who took care of Julia's fish in the aquarium in her office... If I recall correctly, the aquarium was moved into a lounge type space which was where Chris first went to see Amy (or Molly, as her name originally was).

Current Talk '14 II / Of interest for Leviathans fans
« on: October 04, 2014, 07:18:35 PM »
This new annotated edition of a selection of Lovecraft's tales looks very cool.  Of the stories chosen, "The Dunwich Horror" was the source material for the DS Leviathans storyline, and "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" had themes that show up in various DS narratives. "Dreams in the Witch House" might have suggested the idea of a "dream curse," although I've always thought the actual source for that was the classic E. F. Benson story "The Room in the Tower" (which has made me sleep with the light on more than once). Note that celebrity DS fan Gahan Wilson (a very talented artist) wrote a blurb strongly praising the new book.

If the link doesn't work for you, just search "The Annotated Lovecraft" on the site.  This book is scheduled to be released in mid-October.

What a marvelous scene.  I wish I could remember it.

My friend Nicky wrote a very similar scenario for Angelique's resurrection in one of his fan fiction epics in the late 1990s...

I know nothing about the vendor or how reputable they are--for that price, presumably the merchandise would come with a certificate, but who knows.  I always think those certificates can be forged just like anything else.  The doll looks pretty cool.  I don't even recall getting such a good look at it, if it was even seen, in the movie.

I also saw a visual, supposedly from this site, of a can of "Collins Catch" sardines which presumably was also made for use in that movie, but again, I don't recall it. I only saw the movie once and it was a fidgety viewing for me.

That's good to hear the films are being broadcast again.

I find it difficult to stomach the incredible resentment I feel towards WB's home video dept for thwarting the NoDS restoration project.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Halloween theme

The Halloween theme is divine!  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

And there's even more of a DS connection, too:  if I recall aright, WOMAN IN THE WINDOW was one of the films The Divine Joan did with Fritz Lang.  It is said in one of the KLS books that Lang made a visit to the DS studio one day, to visit Joan.  According to KLS, Lang made some lighting suggestions on the set, which were immediately adopted.

It's a lovely thought... and maybe it really happened...

Isn't BARNABAS, QUENTIN AND THE BODY SNATCHERS the one that's hard to come by?  I'm not sure I ever read that one.  The one I remember had Barnabas and the latest ingenue visiting Julia at her clinic.

I remember reading somewhere that "Marilyn" was only ever given the script of episode 1, but somebody must have sent him updated notes on later characters--such as Quentin.

Hi Patti,

You'd most likely have to copy the "link" (i.e., the email address), open up your email handler, and compose a new email to that address.  I know some browsers for home computer will just automatically open the new email template for you, but if that's not the case, you need to do it "the old fashioned way."

Best,

Steve

That's fascinating, Uncle Roger.  I never had heard about that.

I remember finding Julia's one appearance in the books very odd.  Was Professor Stokes in that one as well?  Julia was portrayed as this jealous, shrewish harpy.

As far as I am concerned, the Ross books are promotional materials, end of story.  Their relationship to the Universe of canon (the aired episodes of the 1966-71 series) does not extend beyond the recycling of a few names and the cover photos.

I realize that other fans may disagree--and that is every fan's prerogative, of course.
