Morning at Collinwood
Elizabeth, Roger and Carolyn are drinking coffee when Vickie enters. There is much ado about her trip. Elizabeth knows why she went. Carolyn is snippy to Vickie.
Vickie goes for a walk and ends up at the Evans cottage. She wants to see the painting of Betty Hanscomb. We learn Sam is from Connecticut. He says you have to live in Collinsport 200 years to be a native. He gives Vickie the painting.
Elizabeth and Roger say the painting looks nothing like Vickie. They also fail to notice the strong resemblance to Elizabeth. Carolyn comes in and asks when did Vickie get her portrait painted? It looks exactly like her.  Obviously, the painting is a major plot point from all the references to it.

I forgot to add that this was a take 2. I only remember this happening once before.

[3894] A torrential rainstorm takes Roger and Vickie down a dark road due to flooding. They discuss the pen and Burke’s potential as the killer. Roger feels the evidence is flimsy.
Back at the great house, Patterson shows up explaining that his car is kaput. Elizabeth offers coffee. Out in the storm, Roger is forced to stop in the flood and they seek refuge in a shack. They discuss his disastrous marriage to Laura and the pen. The Sheriff arrives to save them.  The storms are always fun.

[wishbone]A Tale of two Cities seems to be the theme.  Carolyn and Joe are surprisingly on a date. Joe and Carolyn discuss Vickie’s tale of the supernatural encounter with Malloy. Joe scoffs at the idea. Sam and Maggie come in and Carolyn invites them to join their table. Maggie is uncomfortable.
In the other city of Bangor, Vickie dines with Frank and naturally recounts tales of the orphanage. They are soon joined by big daddy Richard. Frank is reminded that Elizabeth is their client, not the orphan.
Back at the Blue Whale, Joe realizes he is second choice to Burke. Carolyn is furious and demand they leave. Joe surprisingly returns, Sam suddenly leaves and asks Joe to see Maggie home. Joe and Maggie chat. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Which one will Joe choose? Can he be recalled to life?

I believe that the Collins family recap every plot line in this episode. While Roger recaps all David’s sins, David reveals he suspects Malloy wants to reveal Roger killed him. Roger dramatically slaps him across the face.

[bat7628] Vickie confronts Richard Garner. He claims to know nothing. Vickie meets his handsome son Frank and relates her woeful past. He promises to help her in her quest. Vickie goes back to dine at the hotel. Burke joins her and offers to return her to Collinsport. Frank comes and reveals he’s learned nothing. Frank seems enthralled by Vickie.  The elder Garner call’s Elizabeth and tells her not to worry about Vickie.  This seems to reveal that Elizabeth knows the truth as does the elder Garner.

Vickie sees the name Hanscomb and assumes it pertains to her and Sam’s painting. She wants to see Elizabeth’s lawyers in Bangor. Carolyn takes her into town and they encounter Burke. He insists on taking Vickie to Bangor. Vickie totally ignores the impropriety of going off alone with a man who is also the enemy of her employer. Carolyn furiously returns to Collinwood and tells her mother that Vickie is probably spilling the beans as they speak. Burke and Vickie in the car discuss Malloy and Burke’s vendetta. Blah! blah! blah!

David finds Vickie packing. She reminds him he said he wouldn’t attend her funeral. He cheerfully says he would attend as he loves a funeral. He claims he didn’t know Vickie was in the room when he locked door. He learns Vickie saw Malloy which makes him want her to stay. David is just so much fun!
Carolyn enters and David leaves to eavesdrop on them. He finds Matthew fixing lock on door to closed wing. Matthew is disturbed to learn of the haunting of Malloy. Carolyn and Vickie discuss the haunting, visit the room and then David tells Vickie he loves her. Carolyn reveals he loved his Kitten and he drowned it.

Burke’s latest dastardly scheme is to buy the Logansport cannery and run Elizabeth out of business. Elizabeth finds out and Roger is very nonchalant about it. He’s more concerned with getting Elizabeth to oust Vickie with some ludicrous reasoning such as Vickie hates David.
At the hotel, Blair tells Burke that Logansport failed due to Elizabeth’s superior ability and crew. Burke plans to highjack the crew. The motley crew arrives. Elizabeth is informed and tells Burke she’ll stop him.

Vickie relates to Carolyn her ordeal in the locked room and seeing Bill’s ghost. She intends to leave Collinwood. Vickie tells Elizabeth Collins Stoddard that she is leaving. Roger is thrilled and supportive of her decision. Elizabeth and Carolyn want her to stay.
The Collins siblings discuss the ghost and what they saw growing up in the house. They felt things that could not be explained. They go to the room and find seaweed.
There is much discussion of Vickie’s leaving, but in the end it will be up to David. Vickie will talk to him and learn why he hates her.

The storm rages. Vickie is still imprisoned.  Carolyn comes in and Roger discusses the missing Vickie and her encounter with Burke and Sam Evans. Roger is not pleased.  There really seems to be little concern that it’s 1 A.M. and Vickie’s been missing for hours.  Where is Elizabeth?
At the Evans cottage, Maggie and Joe chat about boats and his future plans.  He leaves at 2:15 and gives Maggie a kiss on the cheek. Lucky girl.
It’s now 3:30 and Roger finally picks up a flashlight, opens the secret panel in the drawing room, and heads down musty hallways to look for Vickie. He finds her, but tries to scare her first. Vickie says David did it and that she saw a ghost.

It’s a stormy night at Collinwood. Just the way I prefer.  Elizabeth is worried about Vickie. Both Roger and David are unconcerned.  David smiles to himself in victory as he is sent to bed.
Carolyn and Burke arrive drunkenly at his hotel room.  She sits with him on the love seat and they chat.
When she finally leaves, she wears the look of love.  Inside Burke says to himself that she is going down.
Elizabeth confronts David with a key she found in his room. A key to the closed off section. A light goes on for Roger. Upstairs, Vickie tries to retrieve the key that is locking her in the room, but fails. The storm rages.

Vickie is still locked in the attic room with the only window high up and covered in bars.
Downstairs, Carolyn and her mother have a tense conversation. Carolyn’s spoiled side is on full display. She is angry at Joe and wants to paint the town on her own.
Sam Evans enters the Blue Whale to find a drunken millionaire and he joins Burke for a drink. Carolyn comes in. No surprise. She joins the drunken duo and learns Joe is with Maggie.
A seaweed covered Bill Malloy appears to Vickie and warns her away before she is killed. A little late Bill, but it proves to Vickie that there are such things as ghosts.

David takes Vickie to the closed off wing. Vickie mentions the pen, more often than she did her stay at the foundling home. David mentions his friends that live there. The ones that never die! David locks Vickie in the attic room which can only be described as a hoarders paradise.
Downstairs, Elizabeth and Carolyn talk about the scene with Joe. Carolyn becomes remorseful. She calls and he comes running to the Great House. Elizabeth begins to miss the governess and her pupil. Joe is expected to take Carolyn out. She becomes enraged again when she learns he has a dinner date. She never wants to see him again. Run, Joe, Run.
David appears starving for some pie. He says he was outside. Lightening and thunder rock the house. It’s a stormy night all around. There is no scene, but I imagine David enjoying a piece of pie with a huge smile on his face.
