So much good dialogue. David tells Matthew he heard something behind the wall, but eventually decides it’s a ghost.
Mrs J is on a roll. She tells Elizabeth that they’ll never find Vickie alive. She continues by implying that Elizabeth is a bad judge of character and Mrs. J knows Matthew like nobody else. Patterson arrives and Mrs J takes the Collinsport police down in one blow. Patterson tells Elizabeth that there is not much hope for Vickie. Mrs J and David discuss the sheriff only knowing the cannery whistle means lunchtime. She grills David about her missing cigarettes and he’s up to the task of outwitting her. David goes to talk to the sheriff
learning about abetting a fugitive and that the cannery whistle indeed means lunch.

     Elizabeth says that Burke will hurt Carolyn. Roger pulls up in convertible and is not interested in Vickie’s disappearance, but extremely concerned Carolyn is seeing Burke.
Joe and Burke search the woods, when  returning to the house Burke and Roger argue and Joe parts ways with the spoiled heiress.

      Elizabeth and Mrs. J talk about Vickie and how she seems to court disaster. Carolyn is missing also, but in reality is on a secret date with Burke. He is sweet talking her and plying her with brandy. Burke learns Vickie is supposed to be in Bangor with Frank. He is visibly upset. Joe arrives and punches Burke over Carolyn barefoot on the couch. Burke learns Vickie is missing rushes to Collinwood where a disgusted Elizabeth sends Carolyn to her room. Joe discovers Vickie’s bag and they know she never left. A well acted episode written by Ron Sproat.

  David brings an increasingly unstable Matthew food. Back at Collinwood, Vickie plans to go weekend in Bangor. Liz asks Vickie to go to Old House and find David. Vickie drops her wallet while retrieving him. She later realizes it’s missing and backtracks to the Old house and into the clutches of her demented nemesis. A very scary episode with David and Vickie in danger.

Matthew returns to Old House to hide behind the bookcase in a secret room. Mrs Johnson tells Burke about Matthew and she will stay on as a spy. David visits Burke unhappy that his father isn’t guilty and becomes suspicious of Burke and Mrs. J.  David goes to the Old House to visit Josette and finds Matthew agreeing to help him. Really awful line memorization by Mitch Ryan. It’s a good thing he’s in scenes with two pros.

  The excitement continues as Vickie tries to fool Matthew in order to save her life.  He reveals he accidentally killed Malloy and she can’t talk if she is dead. At the Great House on the Collins estate, Elizabeth and Frank fret over Vickie while the Sheriff searches. They ponder what could have happened to Vickie and who could have meant her harm. One remark Leads Elizabeth to the cottage where she finds Vickie in jeopardy.   
Really a stellar episode. They may have even gotten better ratings if they had a quicker pace in the beginning.

  Richard and his son Frank discuss Vickie and Roger. They wonder who tried to run down the spunky governess.
     Sam comes into station to reveal he was on a beautiful beach alone in Maggie’s car.
     Frank goes to Collinwood to see Vickie and ponder who might be out to get her. He leaves as Elizabeth comes down looking for David. Victoria volunteers to Check the Old House while Elizabeth calls Matthew and orders him to search the cliffs.  But Matthew goes to the Old House arriving before Vickie.  As she approaches, a big urn is pushed by Matthew off the roof as Vickie watches it crash by her.  So now we know who is  the secret attacker.

  Vickie arrives at the police station. Richard Garner is there representing Roger.
Vickie tells her story of the pen, the locked door, and attempted hit and run.
     Carolyn arrives to tell her weepy story and argue Roger’s innocence. Then Roger comes in and tells his story revealing he stopped for gas when Vickie was almost hit. They await confirmation. This has to be the end of the pen.  Unless there’s some secret the pen still harbors.
