I've been listening to old radio shows at work to get into the spirit of the Halloween season, and stumbled across this story from 1934 on The Witches Tale series. In it two brothers inherit an old mansion in Louisiana with a graveyard in the yard. They arrive pre-dawn and see the laughing figure of a woman in white in the house, upon following her to the cellar they find the tomb of the builder's wife who died young in the early 1800s. I don't want to give away too much of the story in case you guys are also interested in listening, but there are soooooooooooo many parallels to Dark Shadows one could think maybe the writer's heard this story back in the day and then subconsciously dragged it up when coming up with plotlines.

Hello all! It's been like forever since I've been here, but I missed you guys a lot! Hope you've all been well!

Just wanted to inform anyone who is interested that I've resurrected my Dark Shadows fansite as a blog and it can be found at it's original address - marbleorchard.net It updates every Monday and Wednesday with DS related media, and every Friday with a review of either a Dan Curtis production or another horror movie starring DS actors. All incarnations of DS will be covered, though a majority of the focus will be on the original series. I've got a lot of big things in the queue, so if you've got a moment please take a look!

Just wanted to point out, I was watching Wicked Little Things again last night (had it on in the background as I was working) and realized that a very young Chloe Grace Moretz plays Emma. So now there are two DS veterans in it.

I was at Hobby Lobby today and came across this pattern for Sherlock Holmes and apparently, Barnabas Collins. I never thought I'd see the day!

Current Talk '12 I / OT? Anno Dracula
« on: January 14, 2012, 09:21:57 AM »
I came across Kim Newman's Anno Dracula series tonight and was wondering if anyone here had read them and do you recommend the series? I love literary cross-overs so I think this is up my alley, but I just wanted to get an opinion from someone who had read them.

I think it's OT because I heard that Barnabas makes an appearance in them? That could be wrong, but it's what I read.

Hi guys, came across this screencap the other day and thought I would share it with you. It's from the video game L.A. Noire, which is a post-WWII detective game where you solve crimes and such. Very dark and violent but a TON of fun. It's a beautiful game, incredibly detailed, depicting 1947 era Los Angeles. Randomly as you drive around the theater marquees will show the names of famous noir films. Scarlet Street was one of them.

I didn't capture this myself, it came from here

I was on the Internet Archive listening to old Horror Radio programs when I came across these 2 episodes of Suspense! that starred Joan Bennett. Thought I'd share, these programs are great!

The link is to the various radio programs uploaded by Old Time Radio that feature Joan Bennett. Hope you enjoy!

I searched on the forum and didn't see anything about this so forgive if this is old info.

The March issue of Fangoria #301, has an interview with Richard Matheson wherein he speaks to some length about working with Dan Curtis.

Current Talk '11 I / Semi-OT: Greenbriar Ghost
« on: February 04, 2011, 04:33:24 AM »
With all the discussion on here about the validity of the witchcraft accusations and trials in the show in the eras they took place in, I thought this article might be of interest.

Elva Zona Heaster

I thought spectral evidence had been outlawed some 200 years prior, but it stood in court, so.... truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

Current Talk '11 I / Character Bio help
« on: February 02, 2011, 06:01:06 AM »
Now that I've got some downtime I decided to start updating Darkness Falls again and writing the character bios for the "About" section. The only problem is I am really struggling between providing too little information and too much information. It's so freaking hard because the stories are so damn complex.

This is what I have so far for Barnabas, JUST covering the first half of 1795. I've filled in a few other points of what I mean to cover. What I'm thinking of doing is covering the character origins and not going too much into depth on their later fates. This will be a pain in the ass for characters whose time lines are changed by Barnabas and/or Julia going back in time to "fix" things.

Eventually character names and places will have links to the other pages, but as I just started, I haven't completed them yet.

Thoughts, criticisms, suggestions?

Calendar Events / Announcements '10 II / Open hailing frequencies.....
« on: August 26, 2010, 05:41:01 PM »
Hi all, I saw this elsewhere and just had to come and show you. I don't know if it's been posted yet as search isn't working for me, but a casting suggestions list was just released for when they were casting ST:TNG. Apparently both Mitch Ryan and Roy Thinnes were up for the role of Captain Picard! Hmmm, how things might have been different! (Didn't Mitch Ryan guest star as Riker's Dad once?)

This popped up recently on an historic photo site I frequent and I thought some of you might be interested to see it. It's not Seaview, but it's kinda cool nonetheless.

Current Talk '09 II / Familiar music...
« on: July 04, 2009, 04:57:42 AM »
Forgive me if this has been posted before, I stumbled on this video tonight looking at Halloween related stuff. It's an old clip of the dating game, from around 1972, as Vincent Price is promoting Dr. Phibes rises again. There's some very familiar music playing at the beginning of the clip.

Go for the DS ref, stay for the extreme awkwardness.

Calendar Events / Announcements '09 I / Teen magazine scans and other
« on: June 29, 2009, 05:25:22 AM »
Hey everyone. I have been too busy with goats, chickens and turkeys so far this summer to do much of anything other than farm work. I have however slowly been scanning my collection of old teen magazines and adding the Dark Shadows related articles up for download on Darkness Falls. Anyone who wishes to read them can find them here.

I finally ordered the latest batch of Big Finish productions and my hat is off to Mark for penning one of the best in the series so far. Really creepy and atmospheric. Congratulations again and I really do hope they get around to doing Labyrinth as well.
