Richard and his son Frank discuss Vickie and Roger. They wonder who tried to run down the spunky governess.
     Sam comes into station to reveal he was on a beautiful beach alone in Maggie’s car.
     Frank goes to Collinwood to see Vickie and ponder who might be out to get her. He leaves as Elizabeth comes down looking for David. Victoria volunteers to Check the Old House while Elizabeth calls Matthew and orders him to search the cliffs.  But Matthew goes to the Old House arriving before Vickie.  As she approaches, a big urn is pushed by Matthew off the roof as Vickie watches it crash by her.  So now we know who is  the secret attacker.

  Vickie arrives at the police station. Richard Garner is there representing Roger.
Vickie tells her story of the pen, the locked door, and attempted hit and run.
     Carolyn arrives to tell her weepy story and argue Roger’s innocence. Then Roger comes in and tells his story revealing he stopped for gas when Vickie was almost hit. They await confirmation. This has to be the end of the pen.  Unless there’s some secret the pen still harbors.

Vickie tells Elizabeth about her apparent intruder. Matt will install a bolt. Roger tells his sister that Vickie should take her overactive imagination and go.  Sam lures Vickie to Blue Whale with tales of Betty Hanscomb, but only wants to know what she knows about Malloy. She decides to walk home and a car almost runs her down, Elizabeth sedates her.  Finally some excitement!

Roger forces Vickie into the drawing room. He presumably tells her the whole true story of Bill Malloy. He reveals he arrived right after Bill was in the water. 

Meanwhile Carolyn and Burke date. He realizes Roger knows too much and Vickie is in danger. He calls and arrangements are made for escape. Vickie goes out back way.

David at the Old House wants his Grandma Josette to come down from the portrait. Matthew arrives and finds David who tells Matthew that Vickie knows who killed Malloy.  They leave and Josette steps out of the portrait. The Old House is a ghostly place. 

I never thought about the two Sarah’s either.  I don’t recall anyone calling her Sarah to her face. There is some discussion between characters using her full name when she is first introduced.  By the time Sarah Collins shows up, they may have forgotten.

  Mrs. J calls Burke, she thinks the house is haunted and must see him. Carolyn comes in and chats with Mrs J. Vickie comes in and Carolyn is still peeved at her for riding with Burke to Bangor. Burke’s plan to steal Elizabeth’s workers fails. It’s on to plan B. He calls Carolyn for a date.  Vickies ride to Bangor is forgiven and Carolyn chats with Vickie revealing Roger lost the pen.

Morning at Collinwood
     Elizabeth, Roger and Carolyn are drinking coffee when Vickie enters. There is much ado about her trip. Elizabeth knows why she went. Carolyn is snippy to Vickie.
     Vickie goes for a walk and ends up at the Evans cottage. She wants to see the painting of Betty Hanscomb. We learn Sam is from Connecticut. He says you have to live in Collinsport 200 years to be a native. He gives Vickie the painting.
     Elizabeth and Roger say the painting looks nothing like Vickie. They also fail to notice the strong resemblance to Elizabeth. Carolyn comes in and asks when did Vickie get her portrait painted? It looks exactly like her.  Obviously, the painting is a major plot point from all the references to it.

  A torrential rainstorm takes Roger and Vickie down a dark road due to flooding. They discuss the pen and Burke’s potential as the killer. Roger feels the evidence is flimsy.
     Back at the great house, Patterson shows up explaining that his car is kaput. Elizabeth offers coffee. Out in the storm, Roger is forced to stop in the flood and they seek refuge in a shack. They discuss his disastrous marriage to Laura and the pen. The Sheriff arrives to save them.  The storms are always fun.
