Died By Fire......
« on: April 26, 2002, 04:56:55 AM »
[flmthrw]

Now that I'm back from my virus imposed exile whilst the good men at Guru Computers purged my computer...
I thought I'd come up with a new survey.....

Sooo, the other day.....

Bathia Mapes...Died By Fire.....

And before it was various incarnations of Laura's and a David Radcliffe......[kaiokn]

Who else died by fire in the series.....
(thought at one time in 1897 Angie-baby was born by fire...[liteye]).....I can think of at least 3 others....

[shadow=red,left,300]Always, Minja [kaiokn][/shadow]

I've been dying for the last couple of days to say Bathia Mapes...died by Fire!!! [liteye]

Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.

The doctor (forgot his name now) who figured out who Laura Collins was - she caused his car to crash and burn.

Jeremiah Collins' children (when he was married to Laura, something brought out later).

Alexis Stokes, although technically she was already dead, but her body was cremated when they thought she was Angelique Stokes Collins.

Did Roxanne in 1970PT die in the burning of Collinwood set by Timothy Stokes?  We may never know.

The doctor was Dr. Guthrie. I liked him!! I think I liked the old caretaker better, though....."*misty, far-off look in eyes* Laura Murdoch Radcliffe Stockbridge Collins...........................died by fyre......................*repeats over and over until Vicki and Frank get creeped out and leave*"

LMAO he was hilarious!!

As Gerard mentioned, Timothy Stokes was caught in the blaze of 1970 PT.  The following day's voiceover mentioned his death, but said nothing of Roxanne.

In 1897, Count Petofi and Garth Blackwood were trapped in Charles Delaware Tate's fiery studio, but it was never established whether His Excellency really died or not.

Welcome back, Minja!

During 1897, Count Petofi was in Charles Tate's studio when Garth Blackwood set fire to it. Since we never heard from him again, Im assuming he died by fire, even though it was never proven.

Hi Cassandra,

I've read somewhere that in 1970 while discussing plans for the next storyline, they discussed bringing Petofi back.  I believe that one of the writers (probably Violet Welles, since she created the character) had an idea for a story involving his presence at Collinwood.  However the general consensus among the writers and DC was that the original Petofi story in 1897 went on too long in the first place.  I personally disagree, but the upshot was that the series ended before they ever got desperate enough for a storyline to try this idea out.

Hi Steve, Yes, I believe you're right on that one. I remember hearing of it awhile back. I would have liked to have seen that too. I agree with you about the Petofi storyline,  As I recall Petofi wasn't even on from the beginning of the run, I believe his character was cast later on, so he couldn't have been on in 1897 for that long a time. I felt that Thayer David did a wonderful job as portraying the evil Count Petofi and kind of hoped they'd bring him back,  and that wig was something else too!!   lol!! ;)

Okay...I know this is stretching the meaning of this question to include a structure rather than a character but didn't the Old House "die by fire" in real life?  I thought I read or heard that once upon a time.

Yes it did unfortunately, in 1969. It was on the same property as the Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, NY. Last time I was there, I at least wanted to see where it had stood, but didn't have enough time to go over there. Maybe next time!

Spoiler . . .

Angelique is destroyed by fire by Ben Stokes, on Barnabas' command, when Barnabas travels back to 1795 to save Vicki Winters. Not that it does any good.  ;)

Nicky Blair, though a warlock never really dies, does he?

Unless one happens to be equipped with a pair of scissors and sheet of black construction paper...

LOL Minja, you're a trip! After seeing your previous fiery replies yesterday when I was here, before you had replied to the last post, I was thinking to myself, Okay Minja, you're on now! I agree with VAM about the fire extinguisher. Thanks for the laughs! I'm sure glad Craig's characters on Dark Shadows didn't die by fire, though we never quite knew what happened to Harry. I'm cruisin' on now. It's just too hot here!!!!
