The Slap Heard Round the World

Today's slide show features one of my all-time favorite moments on Dark Shadows: Julia bitch-slaps Cassandra!  I'll never forget watching that for the first time way back in the Summer of '68.  My jaw was literally on the floor. And I gave an extra little cheer when Vicki told the smirking Witch "You deserve a great deal more than that!"  Great stuff!

As I've commented before, Julia got to slap more people than anybody else on Dark Shadows.  Once I made a video for a friend and part of it was all of Julia's slaps (that I could get my hands on) edited together.

I'm mostly drawing a blank on other characters who administered or received slaps.  I remember Naomi's great slap to Rev. Trask in 1796.  Anyone got any others?

Gregory Trask's notorious slap of Magda when she wouldn't come clean about Barnabas' location - Magda's reaction was priceless - if looks could curse!

My all-time favorite DS moment- leave it to Julia to do what everyone wanted to do!  Ladies and gentlemen, this is where the phrase 'bitch-slap' was born.

A good one was when Vickie slapped Reverend Trask when he was interrogating her and he slapped her back.

Nicholas' slap to Angelique, when she got caught defying his warning about going after Barnabas in the summer of '68, was a juicy moment.

And speaking of Nicholas, he deftly avoided a slap from Eve, as I recall.

Samantha slaps Gabriel at least once in 1840.  Also Quentin slaps her when [spoiler]she claims that he is not really Tad's father.[/spoiler]

I am slowly making my way through my DS tapes, once again; was watching some 1897 eps. last night..."reverend" Trask slaps Rachel, tries to act like he's doing her a favor afterwards - heck, he's a sleazeball whatever way you cut it. Quentin slaps Beth during a particularly tense moment; whatever one thinks of Beth I couldn't help but wince when I saw that too...

But I never wince when Grayson's slapping hand is doin' its thing, of course... 

i agree gothick that the slap was genius.

i had heard tale of it but had no idea what episode it occured in.but when julia got up off that sofa and slowly walked across the room i totally saw it coming and the moment of contact was brilliant.i love julia's bored,exhausted look as she leaves.

vicki's little zinger is the icing on the cake of an all-time favorite scene.

I trust your video includes Julia slapping Joe when he went berserk in 1968.  It wasn't her best slap, but perhaps she felt she had better be relatively gentle because she was slapping a guy.

This was one of my all time fave DS scenes!  But an even better one would have been her bitch-slapping Barnabas!  God knows he deserved it sometimes!

I try and block out ALL scenes involving Roger Davis!  

I think that the best one was JULIA and ANGELIQUE. I would have like to see an all out battle.  Like the scene in Star Trek with the finger zapping. 

I recall Gregory Trask slapping Judith once [spoiler]after he and Evan Hanley sicked Minerva's ghost on her to drive her crazy![/spoiler] Bastard! I really wished Judith had slapped him back.

I remember Nicholas slapping Eve a hard one when she was being a sarcastic bitch to him one time......Angelique could have told her you don't mouth off at a man like Nicholas and get away with it!


And I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet so I will...how about when [spoiler]Aristede was slapping one of DS' most BELOVED characters, Amanda Harris around?[/spoiler]

Normally I hate it especially when a man slaps a woman but when [spoiler]Quentin smacked Samantha for lying about him being Tad's father she had it coming![/spoiler]

And as much as I am attracted to Quentin when he [spoiler]smacked Beth, I wanted to throttle him![/spoiler]

When Julia [spoiler]smacked Cassandra and Vicki told her she should have had more, I really wished that Vicki had slapped her other cheek! But alas, Vicki didn't have it in her. Too bad.[/spoiler]

No one mentioned this one so I will [spoiler]when Naomi slapped Trask in 1795 for telling her she was aligning herself with the devil in supporting Vicki Winters. Oh but my hand felt so good after she did that, it was as if I had slapped him myself![/spoiler]

When did [spoiler]Aristede smack Amanda Harris? I hate Aristede but I flat can't stand Amanda Harris. Which episode please? I must see that![/spoiler]
