Evidently, by 1969, ABC's "sensitivities" had mellowed considerably, since we got to see plenty of "same-sex" neck/throat biting from Barnabas, Dirk Wilkins and Roxanne Drew by then.

There were same sex neck bites in later storylines, BUT the actual act was never depicted as it was with male on female or female on male. With the same sex attacks, all it was was a shot of the vampire baring fangs and then the victim's terrified expression. Heaven forbid the audience should have seen a fanged mouth going in for the actual bite. But sometimes a bite is just a bite, an act of violence, not a sex act. Though apparently DC and ABC didn't see it that way.

Very true, when [spoiler]Roxanne was chomping on Maggie in 1970 I believe it was all off-camera (haven't actually SEEN this plotline, yet!) and Will is also bitten off-camera in 1970 PT.[/spoiler]
